Q: I have a USB keyboard and mouse (combo thingy). I can not use the USB keyboard and mouse when trying to enter setup, boot menu, or anything like that becasue Windows needs to load the driver for it, which it can't do at that point. My motherboard does not support the old PS2 keyboard, so I'm pretty sure I can't use my old keyboard. What do I do? All I really need to do is enter Linux instead of Windows for a little bit (I am dual booting)
Unplug the usb keyboard from the computer, power the computer down completely and remove the power cord/switch the power switch on the power supply wait 30 seconds plug in power, usb, and try rebooting The usb keyboard should work now, if not, you'll need a different keyboard. USB ports sometimes stay active even when the computer is shut down, so you have to do a cold boot to get them to reactivate themselves on bootup to detect a keyboard. You could try another usb port too.
Q: Hey guys. my iBook g4's internal keyboard is kinda broken and it types on its own so i bought an external keyboard then after a while while im typing sometimes the internal keyboard is typing diffirent letters again and its annoying so my question is how do i disable my internal keyboard?its just sooo annoyingPlease answer. Thanks in advance. No stupid answers. Please
Uninstall the driver for the correct keyboard (this can be done if you disconnect your external keyboard and go to your device manager and un install the driver seen under keyboards). Or you may uninstall all the drivers come under key board. Then reconnect the External keyboard. It will work fine.
Q: I just got gta4 from steam at a really cheap price but i found out i can only use either an xbox360 controller or the mouse and keyboard which got me thinking, Can one really get used to playing with the mouse and keyboard? I thought if it was possible id get gta5 when it comes out for pc, but i don't know if anyone could effectively use the keyboard and mouse.
keyboard and mouse is really easy to get used to. You can map buttons on the keyboard to make it easier too.
Q: i reformat my computer, use it for a day. i was watching a video, and notice that the keyboard stopped working, i tried numerous keyboards ps2 and usb, but nothing works. with ps2 and usb, i can use both untill i see windows when the computer turns on. but only with ps2, the following happens: whenever i press a key on the keyboard, i hear a bleep sound coming from the motherboard. i do have all of the drivers installed. any help? (and i reformatted using windows xp)
remove all the keyboards and reboot the system--you will probably have to use the mouse only at this point. Before you restart the system, remove the USB keyboard so the system doesn't see it and forces it to load the other drivers. An afterthought isdid you go into the Device Manager and see the built in keyboard listed? If notdid you seen any large yellow exclamation points showing up for unidentifiable devices? If so, one of those is probably your keyboard and the drivers didn't take. Try reinstalling the keyboard drivers again. But try the restart after removing the keyboards from Device Manager and see what happens first. Then try reloading the drivers if you still don't see it.
Q: I spilled water on my laptop keyboard which no longer works so I have switched to a usb keyboard however it will randomly insert the - and not stop for a while and I know it's the usb keyboard because whenever it starts doing it and I unplug it, it magically stops. What could be going on here?
i think your usb keyboard has technical problems. have you been using that usb keyboard before you spill the water on your laptop keyboard. if you haven't and if your keyboard is new, then it must be the keyboard with problems.
Q: hello. just wonder if u lot can help:everytime i use my keyboard to type a message, when i press certain keys - programes pop up. for example when i press b on its own, a programme will open. its like im holding the control button or something.it has nothing to do with the keyboard, i have tried 4 on there - and they all done the same. my friend had a similar problem, and pressed some keys and it stopped it!please help i need to use me pc. thank u very much!
it sounds as if you have some macros set up. some times viruses have set them up. do a thorough virus scan. good luck
Q: I want to learn how to play the piano but all me gotz is me electronic keyboard and so i ask will learning how to play the keyboard now make it easier for me to learn the piano later on?
in some ways yes, you will know chords and simple melodyies. however when you see piano music it is much more deep, harmonies , moving basses (bass clef used) and therefore will be hard to break habits you make while playing keyboard.
Q: Hi, i've been planning to buy myself a piano keyboard for a long time. I'm holding back because i can't decide which piano keyboard to choose. I want a piano keyboard that sounds exactly or almost as nice as a real piano. Some keyboards i've played on sounds too fake and electronic. I want one that will have the beautiful quality sound, like a real piano or at least close. is there such thing? probably spending like around $100-$300 for one.
Please visit you local store and hear them carefully. Check key response/recovery time (very important)!
Q: Can you do dynamic changes (like louds and softs) on a keyboard???
Well if you press harder you get a louder sound, but on an electronic keyboard (which I assume you mean) it is harder to do really dramatic dynamics, than a real piano, but as someone else said: you can get more sensetive keyboards which are better for dynamics.
Q: I got coffee on my keyboard. I was wondering how to keep the keys from sticking? I whipped everything off but, I am sure later when I get off the keys will become hard to push.
As long as this is a plain keyboard (i.e. has no batteries inside) you can unplug it from the computer and run hot water though it. You can also pry off the keys and clean under them (they go back on by pressing them down until they click). If you run water though it make absolute sure that you dry it out. You can use a hair dryer if you are careful enough not to get it too close. A keyboard is really nothing more then a large array of switches. These switches may corrode (depending on the make of the keyboard). But generally they can have water run though them. If all else fails simply buy a new keyboard (they are relatively cheap) and call this a learning experience about drinking liquids around your computer.
