6. What's the characteristics about porcelain tiles and glazed tiles? Which one
more slippery, more aesthetically pleasing and easy to clean?
Glazed tiles are colorful, the effect is rather diverse, stain-slip, abrasion resistance but worse than the porcelain tiles. Long-term use may wear a large surface; porcelain tiles have the higher degree, long hard wear surface. Good performance and stable cleanup (before playing the best times to use the wax to improve stain resistance). The porcelain tiles are weaker performance in non-slip than glazed tiles. We should take attention on its anti-slip properties, face down in a tiled brick water testing.
7. How to choose bathroom tiles? Porcelain tiles or glazed tiles?

- Ok,I'm not sure exactly what your going for.. there's stone tiles like marble and travertine pieces which are rather pricey or you can choose on getting a ceramic tile which there are many arrays of colors. There's the ceramic tile itself made from a red-clay backing... that has various grades called PEI Levels: 1-5 ... 5 Being the best.. Italian and Spanish Tiles are the best. And my recommendation is to get yourself a porcelain tile. Which has a cream colored backing almost as the exact color prints in the front of the tile. In case of anything falling and chipping the tile, porcelain does a better job and is not as noticeable, as where the red clay backing tile (ceramic) will chip and you'll see the red. The best way to tell as to how good a choice you've made is to carry one, if it's heavy it's good stuff...oh and be careful to not get it too slippery or too rough that dirt easily clings to it. If it's a new construction home, for installation get some kind of slab crack isolation system as (PRP) it's the best against any kind of stress cracks in the slabs of new homes..And always keep at least 3 boxes of extra tille for future repairs, tiles easily get discontinued and you will never get the same one again. - I would suggest Tile. I honestly do not think that Wood is the best choice because there will be a lot of water on the floor most of the time so it could harm the floors.

- Is it a pure white? If so your best look will be a white grout. If you have any coloring or haze of color in the tile pick up and match that as best as possible. The use of any other colors in a pure white tile will show as a checker board look on the floor. Maybe not so bad in a real light tone, but any time you go a grey tone it will jump out at you. You asked about type of grout, most likely you ll need a sanded grout and have to use a 1/8 th 3/16 th or a 1/4 inch grout joint.I prefer 3/16th myself and thats what I use on most all my jobs. There are a few (few) porcelains made to go tight together and you ll need a unsanded grout. These you can tell by the tiny beveled edge they ll have .. - Q:I am in the process of tiling my bathroom, now that I have the 12 X 12 tiles on the floor and nearly done with them, I need to do the walls behind the toilet sink and cabinet. My question is, how far do I have to move the toilet flange (pipe) forward so the new tiles will not interfere. The toilet sits right on the wall. I used 1/2 backerboard, and I am using a 4x4 tile and thinset to mix and hold it together.

- The cost depends on the choice of tile and the application ( if your talking about insatlation costs as well). individaul Tile can cost anywhere from 99 cents S.F. (on sale) to several dollars.

- Do not use LimeAway! This product is an acid that will etch the glazing on the surface of the tile. This result is not repairable. The most safe and effective way to clean dirty tile and grout is to use a cleaner specifically designed for this use. Check a local floorcovering store, especially if there's one in your area that specialized in tile. Look for a heavy duty tile and grout cleaner, there should be several options available. Any kind of paint that I'm aware of is not a viable long term option. Paint will fail to penetrate the glaze of the tile, and therefore will be subject to wear fairly quickly.

- The right way to do it would be to remove the flooring and lay down some hardi backer or some cement board. However - if your wood floor is very very flat, and you consider the areas where that wood floor + the thickness of your tile meets up with other floor surfaces (e.g. carpeting or door door thresholds), it might be the easiest thing to do. Tile is a lot of fun. Don't skimp on making the right cuts and be sure to use spacers. Depending on what kind of tile you use - go with a smaller (1/4 or less) spacer so you have less cleanup with your grout. [Edit - I definitely agree with Crazy Man below. The waterproofing layer is a definite! Make sure you give it adequate time to dry, and then make sure you let the mud (adhesive) dry completely before grouting.] You might also consider something other than ceramic tiles, although there are some newer styles that are quite nice. A sealed porcelain tile or slate looks so nice.
