Q:How to fix loose roof tiles?
You don't; screw your resolve to the sticking place, then get out the ladder and hammer! - Hym Glorianus......... GL>
Q:Cutting ceramic tile?
I tile every day of my life, and hope you have extra tile pieces. As one answer states a diag. Grinder and a diamond blade. I go through a couple a week, but certainly you can't pull a wet saw to the wall. I'll assume not, but might you make the cuts on grout lines? Also, I'm wondering about even 5/8 drywall as a substrate for tile work? You might also use a Dremel with a proper bit for the very corners, but with care the Di. Grinder will suffice, You probably can expect cutting into the dry wall as well. Steven Wolf just my two sense I'm just purchasing a FEIN Multi tool, that I'll use exclusively for installed tile cutting, especially grout.
Q:Laying new tile in my laundry room help?
I don't think you should use more glue but they will need to be weighed down i.e. a roller like the type used for linoleum. or something flat and heavy
Q:Laminate wood floors or tile?
Go with tile. You add value to your house. Cheap laminate would only last only a few years. Laminate, in essence, is comppressed paper. If you have kids and they spill water, it could easily damage the laminate flooring. Expensive laminate could prevent this.. however they cost like $3+ per sq/ft. At that rate you might as well get the real deal and go with hardwood flooring. Last longer. Upkeep better. I'm a contractor btw.
Q:Will sheetrock fall with tiles?
Sheetrock is not the best base for tiles. If the tiles start to pull away, they will pull the paper face away as well. It would be best to fix a sheet of fibre-cement to the wall first. Then seal the sheet before fixing the tiles.
Q:Sub-floor in addition before vinyl tile?
Self stick tiles commonly loosen from subfloors, concrete or wood. They can be installed successfully over concrete but it is absolutely vital that your concrete be smooth and very, very clean. If you are concerned about adhesion it would be wiser to use glue down vinyl tiles which aren't much more expensive, rather than build a very expensive wooden subfloor which wouldn't guarantee the integrity of peel and stick tiles.
Q:Tiled map in Java Game?
That's the most efficient way to do it. You use math to calculate positions, so the tiles are virtual. Unless you really need to draw tiles with boundaries, don't show them (like the original Warcraft game). Perform all of your calculations like movement and clicks-to-tile conversions based on pixel location. This is far more efficient that trying to do it with lots of actual Java subpanels merged together. But, note that it's a lot of work and you have to carefully work out your calculations to make sure your clicks are aligned correctly. One mistake I made with a hex map once was I used doubles and I casted them to integers too early, and the slight different (by losing percentage) threw all my calculations off slightly. The trick is to create your background image tiles so that they blend seamlessly together on all sides. That will take a LOT of effort.
Q:How do I make old tile look shiny?
You could try to re-seal the tile. Is your tile glazed? Glazed tiles should never need to be sealed, as the glaze is the sealer. Do a water test first to see if your tile is soaking up water. Put a little water on the tile if it turns dark, then your tile needs to be re-sealed. If you just want to make it shiny, you can try a topical sealer. Your local tile/flooring store should be able to help you pick the best one. There is also something called a 'wear layer' which is an acrylic floor finish that helps to keep you from wearing through the sealer. Again, your local tile store can help you with this step.
Q:how to measure and install ceramic tile counter tops and back splash?
unsure the nature of your request! if it is working out quantity of tiles take the square meterage of area to be covered then divide it by the calculations given on the tile boxes, if you can be more specific i will try and offer more help regards steve
Q:When were tiles invented? Who invented them? Where was it invented?
The earliest finds of roof tiles are documented from a very restricted area around Corinth (Greece), where fired tiles began to replace thatchet roofs at two temples of Apollo and Poseidon between 700-650 BC.[1] Spreading rapidly, roof tiles were within fifty years in evidence for a large number of sites around the Eastern Mediterranean, including Mainland Greece, Western Asia Minor, Southern and Central Italy.[2] Early roof tiles showed an S-shape, with the pan and cover tile forming one piece. They were rather bulky affairs, weighting around 30 kg apiece.[3] Being more expensive and labour-intensive to produce than thatchet, their introduction has been explained with their greatly enhanced fire resistance which gave desired protection to the costly temples.[4] The spread of the roof tile technique has to be viewed in connection with the simultaneous rise of monumental architecture in archaic Greece. Only the appearing stone walls, which were replacing the earlier mudbrick and wood walls, were strong enough to support the weight of a tiled roof.[5] As a side-effect, it has been assumed that the new stone and tile construction also ushered in the end of 'Chinese roof' (Knickdach) construction in Greek architecture, as they made the need for an extended roof as rain protection for the mudbrick walls obsolete.
