Q: I'm comparing the GP 6500 with 389 cc engine (splash lubrication) to the XG 6500 with a 410 cc industrial engine (oil pump pump lubrication). I would be using it for home emergency use, so I doubt I really need the industrial engine with oil pump. Over 10 years it will probably only get 100 hours on the engine mostly at a consistent 50% load with occasional short term peaks closer to max (toaster, sump pump coffee pot, etc). So I'm leaning towards the cheaper GP. But want to consider the following:Are they both easy to pull start? The biggest engine I pull start is my snowblower with a 250cc OHV Briggs. But when starting only the engine is turned, i.e. it's not engaged to the snowblower yet. The hardest thing I have to start is my power washer with a 160cc OHV Kohler. I think because it's directly connected to the pump which makes it harder to start.Is the XG industrial engine quieter than the GP engine?

Q: Every other electrical and electronic equipment in my house is alright. How can alarm company prove the above in a court of law or to Better Business Bureau ?
The alarm company employs the expert who says so! I'd say it is completely possible. One problem with an alarm system is all the wiring connecting it to the various triggering devices. It is usually long, and elevated, not shielded in any way. It works like a large antenna. So, a lightning flash doesn't even have to cause a surge on the power lines, in order to induce a voltage on all this wire. Distant lightning will produce an EMP (electro-magnetic pulse). It is like a strong radio signal. It only has to exceed the breakdown voltage of any chip it can get to. As this has to be some particular chip, it could be taken out alone. It only takes the destruction of a single gate in it to render it useless. I'm sure the manufacturer would have had enough experience to realise the cause of that particular chip being taken out! Nothing else in your house can present such a large antenna to the pulse.

Q: Do you find batteries die faster than they should, light bulbs flicker or go out too quickly, electrical equipment does werid stuff or dies sooner than it should. Hmmm a diode bridge can change ac to dc, but not just a diode. all it does is block current flow one way a converter - as in an inverter? This will convert dc to ac a transformer only works with ac, because it depends on the magnetic flux I dont' even know what a mercury arc rectifier is, but it sounds like it might work
Q: i have an old distribution board, dorman smith and the lights are all off one circuit, when i flicked the outside light on it knocked off all the lights but didnt trip the 6amp circuit breaker?? Has the circuit breaker had it? its at least 10 years old?
Car dude and Berl W are correct. I have been dealing with electrical equipment for for 23 years and have never heard of a 6 amp circuit in general home wiring, like lights and outlets. Turn off the main power and inspect the wiring going to this breaker, check to see if it is at least 14 gauge. If it is, your breaker or fuse is undersized. The sheathing on the wire should be stamped or black labeled with the gauge. If the wire is cloth coated you probably won't be able to read any ratings. If it is solid copper wire chances are good that it is at least 14 gauge, but have somebody qualified in electronics verify that it is. If this is the case you MAY be able to increase to a larger breaker.
