Q: i would like to get the machine that is at least 2000 0r 3000 kw: waw. That's a lot of energy for just a house. You got to be kidding me. okay, you can find diesel generator if you like, but you need to keep storage of diesel enough for it.

Q: I am build a 40KVA permanent magnet generator for diesel engine. the customer request the voltage is DC 28V after an rectifier. may be this 28V dc charge for the battery. can someone help me how much AC voltage should be output by the permanent magnet generator?permanent magnet generator----AC ???V----rectifier---28VDC---charge to battery.: In AC side connect a series high current Choke with less no of turns take the out put use a High current bridge Diodes with suitable heat sink.For regulating out put ,In the series choke place a Dc winding that can be excited by a separate dc circuit, Increase saturation will give same voltage decrease excitation will give drop in voltage.It is like magnetic Amplifier.Set the out put voltage with pre set point or a regulating circuit.I have given rough Idea If you want further detail PM me (This only cheapest method unless you have use thyristor or others to con troll may be expensive)

Q: I know that they could re-surface to re-establish a normal supply of air but what about when they were under attack and couldnt surface for long periods of time,wouldnt those engines use up a lot of the oxygen inside the sub?: As others have stated the diesel engines could be used under water only with a snorkle system which wasn't very practical to do if you were indeed under attack. The have ports at the engine room to take in combustion air (oxygen) and to exhaust the combustion gases. The generator/motor was built inline with the drive shaft to the main propeller. As the diesel engine powered the prop it used the generator/motor to charge a bank of batteries. When the sub went under the diesel engines were shut off and the sub was powered by the battery bank. There is a huge switch station just to the rear of the engine room for this purpose.

There are entire books on the subject, and you need plenty of diagrams as well. That's far beyond the scope of an answer on here. But if all you need is a 12v regulated dc power supply why not just get a model car or boat engine and see if you can hook it up to a car alternator from a scrapped vehicle via a suitable pulley gearing? It certainly won't be quiet though, and you'll need to ensure that the engine is either fan or water cooled and that there's a suitable exhaust outlet. Model diesel engines aren't very large, but there are larger scale copies of the old British Mills engine design made in India, and also various websites which give you details or sell you plans on how to build your own. Usually they have lapped pistons so don't need the complication of piston rings.
