- Q:Lookig for a new desk chair and seen one i like but theres a lot of plastic parts on it mainly the legs. Woundering if its a big deal or just a strong as metal legs ?
- I'm sitting on a leather office desk chair that I purchased at Office Depot 10 years ago and have had absolutely no stability problems, breakage or durability problems with the plastic coasters or the the base to which they are attached. The secretary chair which is upholstered is over 15 years old has plastic feet and coasters and hasn't had any issues either. We are very hard on our office furniture and have found plastic to be easy to keep clean and just as durable as metal (which in our case rusted over time on a metal based and castored wingbacked office chair we once had).

- At that price point you won't get durability, but if that's what you can afford, so be it. Things to look for: Heavily padded arms. The seat is comfortable immediately when you try it out. Arms have removable covers. Arm covers and seat cushion cover are washable. Matching footstool or small ottoman. The chair fits you so your back is against its back and your legs bend naturally at the knee. FWIW, if you're in the US you can do better on Craigslist than in an inexpensive furniture store.

- You really have to shop around Visit fabric stores - those that specialize in upholstery fabric. Take pictures and very good measurements of your chair. The folks at the fabric store can help you determine how much fabric you will need. Then get labor quotes. Unfortunately re-upholstering furniture can be as expensive if not more expensive than purchasing new unless the furniture is originally very high end. Since you chair is vinyl it probably does not fall into that category. You are better off getting a new chair. Sorry

- How many guests and where are you located? Yes, you can use bales of hay with linens draped over so guest will not have hay all over their clothes. Check with a local restaurant that may be closed at the time your ceremony and reception takes place and ask if you can borrow them and give them free advertising in your program (nothing fancy just a mere mention). You can also check with Parks Recreation, a local VA hall or even other churches. If you have to go with the ground (for some odd reason) make it fun with blankets that guests can take home with them. It really depends on your style or theme of your wedding that dictates what to use.

I've tried slipcovers with arm padding, but everything just looks weird on it. The current fabric is in terrible shape, but the structure is like new, and the wood is in great shape.

- I think it can sometimes be overused. Especially since most people are under the wrong assumption that they are special fake chairs that wrestlers use. They are not. They are standard chairs that you'd sit on in some meeting hall, and if used incorrectly, they can lead to very real injuries, such as concussions. In fact, after learning about just how dangerous concussions really are, and just how often some wrestlers who take unprotected shots to the head receive concussions, I'd be a very happy wrestling fan to never see an unprotected steel chair shot to the head ever again. Get your hand up and protect yourself! All that being said, I think pro wrestling goes to the steel chair so often is because in the fictional reality that is pro wrestling, it makes sense. They're big and look impressive. They make a loud crack that echos through the crowd. And most importantly, they're always around ringside. It makes perfect sense (in wrestling anyway) for a wrestler to get his hand on a steel chair since they're all over the place. It's a lot less believable when a wrestler gets his hand on say... oh... a cattle prod. (I'm looking at you Scott Hall and Kevin Nash)

- Haven't okorder / anyway, once you have the moulding you just need to measure (twice!) and cut the moulding with mitred edges (that is a 45% angle that makes it look like the two pieces continue around a corner seamlessly) you can get mitre blocks for about $5 from a hardware store, and that ensures you get a good cut, but please test your cutting on a scrap 1st!!!
