Q:We HAD a leak problemThat is now fixedBut if you stand in front of the unit in the garage, the very base part (box shaped base) has insulation on all three visable sidesWell the insulation is totally moldy and mildewedA) Can I just tear that off (wearing gloves) or could I get electrocuted that way? B) Any safety issues with getting rid of that insulation? C) how do I replace it?I have a photo if that helps.
There should be a power switch installed on the side of or near the furnaceIt usually looks like a standard light switchYou can simply turn the power of the furnace by flipping this switch or by going turning off power at the breaker-box/fuse-panelHowever, it sounds like removing the insulation you are talking about, there is likely no chance of getting shockedIt is probably a sheet-metal/duct-work base that the furnace is sitting on and it is insulated so that you don't lose heat/cooling into the garage spaceSimply remove the insulation and install new or hire an HVAC contractor to do this for you.
Q:I think I've asked before but I'd like some additional recommendationsI have a 16X70 mobile home that is not well insulated and with winter approaching fast, I'd like to see what I can do now to help keep us warmer without breaking our walletsThis mobile home has sheetrock with some cheap yellow insulation then the metal exterior and that's itSomething I've thought about but I'm not sure if it would work is to take off the interior walls and remove the insulationWhat I've thought is I could cut pieces of that sturdy foam used in homes, and put between the studsMaybe use some kind of tape around the perimeter of the foam, then install new insulation of a better brand then replace the sheetrockWe keep the thermostat set on like 66 degrees and the bill is still sky highWould my plan work? or do you have any better suggestions for better insulating mobile homes? I do have underpinning but it's just the plastic/rubber kind (not concrete blocks).
Drill and fill is a better answer than re-doing all your sheetrockYou will most likely make things worse if you try thatIn drill and fill they cut a small hole on the top and bottom and fill the cavity with blown in insulation or foam insulationTry to do your roof before you do the wallsAlso, Putting on a insulated skirt around the bottom of your home that is air tight (or at least mostly air tight) will do wondersMake sure you have all gaps and holes filled with caulk, weather gasketing on the doors and windows must be in good shapeInsulated drapes that velcro or magnet to the window frame will also work well for you Plus, get a programmable thermostatLet the temperature drop when you are sleeping and or out of the houseOne more idea, most states have a weatherization program that will help you pay for this kind of thing if you meet their income guidelinesIf you don't meet the guidelines, they can usually at least point you in the direction of some reputable contractors.
Q:what is Kevlar that is used in enclosing cladding of optical fiber?

Q:What are the benefits for adding more fiber to my diet? I have started eating nature's valley cruchy gronola and also added benefiber to my dietPls let me know the pros and cons?
Does drinking orange juice make you stronger? No Logic people
Q:I find eating raw fruits, especially apples, pears etc a difficult habit because they can sometimes be tasteless and unappetizing-so i decided to use a blender (yes,a blender, not a juicer) to blend the fruits then drink them as i found that they tasted much better in liquid form-i find that it's much easier to consume more fruits when they're blended,so1.Is this way of consuming the fruits considered unhealthy in any way, should i not be blending them?2.Is it okay that i use a blender-because when i do eat fruits without blending them i don't peel the skin off and i feel that when i use the juicer only a portion of the fruit's nutrition comes out whereas the rest remains untouched-or is there some reason i should be using a juicer instead?
There is every reason to be using a blender instead of a juicer, as long as have thoroughly washed the produceWIth a juicer, you are completely removing the pulp from the fruit, and the pulp is fibre, generally soluble fibreFibre is necessary to help you to feel satiated, and to help guard against constipation and other, far more serious instestinal illnesses.
Q:I eat a lot of fiber with a lot of liquidLots of fruit.OatsFlax mealMy doctor told me that I shouldn't have a problem if I'm eating a lot of fiberShe said to increase the amount of oil that I eatI eat fish, take fish oil supplements, and eat some smart balance spread already! Sometimes, I do not have bowel movements for 2 weeksMy stomach becomes rock hard and hugeI will gain about 5-6 lbsWhen I menstruate, I will start to poo againI will drop back to my regular weightHow do I stop this crazy cycle? I have thought about laxatives, but I do not want to become reliant on themFlax seed meal with a bit of warm water really isn't doing the trickPrune juice doesn't help eitherWhat should I do?
The 'marinade you described is actually just a 'rub', because it's all solids and no liquidsYou should include an acidic liquid, like vinegar or lemon/lime juice, to help make it more tenderYou can include all the 'rub' ingredients to add flavorMy toaster oven has a heating element above and belowI can turn one or the other on, or bothTo get good grill marks, turn on the bottom element only and, 1/4 way through the cooking, rotate the steak 1/4 turnHalf way through the cooking, flip it over on the other side, 3/4 way through the cooking, rotate it another 1/4 turnThis will produce grill marks on both sidesGive it to poke test to see if it's done enoughAll toaster ovens are not alike, or like their big oven cousins so you'll have to play it by ear to determine the best time and tempAre there instructions on the toaster oven near the dial(s)? All, it would depend on the cut of meat you're cooking, not just the thicknessDon't wrap it in foilThat will keep it drying out and developing a crust on the outsideYou should, however, place a piece of aluminum foil under the toaster oven rack, to catch the drippings and keep the oven clean.
Q:It seems health advisers tell us to have a high fibre diet consisting of brown rice, brown bread, pasta etc, but all those things contain load and loads of carbsIs there anyway I can get a lot of fibre in my diet yet keep carbs low?
i admire making doilies for presentsthat's transforming into greater famous recentlyI observe an excellent style of youngsters asking how they are able to benefitI found out to crochet by employing making edges for towels while i became a teenager and now savour making pineapple centerpieces and doilies.
Q:I just painted my nails and i accidently got it on my throw/blanket on my bed i really need to get it out as its my favorite one and its not reversible its 100% Polyester How can i get this out as quick as possible???
Home remedies do not workIf you try to remove the nail polish yourself (with remover or acetone), you will just work it further into the fibers of the clothHowever, many dry cleaners can remove nail polish from cloth Take your blanket to a dry cleanerCall first to make sure they have experience in removing nail polish from clothIt shouldn't be that expensive Good luck -
Q:I have a 900 sqfoot condo, and I think the insulation is horrible, so the gas bill is often over $100/monthI think there are ways to better insulate and save money on heating, but I don't know details
i tought this question would menstion the london tube.
Q:there is only wood and tile between the attic and outside
You're not the only oneI get this too and it drives me NUTS!! It's especially bad in the winter time when the dry heat from the furnace is running at full blastI get shocked when I touch my car door to close it after getting out of it and sometimes the shock is so severe that it sends a wave of electricity all the way up my armOUCH!! I have even noticed this to be a problem in the grocery store, again, mostly in the winter time and just about every time I touch a metal surface of any sortI know I have to look like a complete a$$ reaching for a can of soup with the uttmost hesitation while wincing in anticipation of a potential electrocution! I've even gone to extremes and purchased a can of Static Gaurd from the laundry aisle to carry around with me in hopes that it would help but it didn't seem to do much goodThe best advice I can give you is to run a humidifier in your home and/or office to keep the air from becoming too dryYou may also find it helpful to add dryer sheets or liquid fabric softner to your daily laundry routineThis should eliminate static in your clothing to some degree I hope this helps.
