Q:Both wires are green but unsure if it is the top or bottom wire.
both wires are green because it is a continuation of the same circuit. They are both the hot. power comet to the switch and when you depress the pedal the contact in the swich makes and the power continues to the brake lights in a sense hooking the two wires to each other. and making them one. But only one of them will show power (from the battery) until the pedal is depressed. Then both of them will have power as the brake lights come on (if everything is working properly)
Q:i bought a programmable thermostat, and the wiring i see doesn't make any sense. it's for central air, heating and cooling. there are no tags or labels on the wires, and it was probably installed in the seventies.there are four wires coming out of the wall, and they're screwed into four of six slots:Y = blue wireG = red wireW = green wireR = white wireB = emptyO = emptythe new thermostat has the following slots: G, Rc, Rh, Y/O, W/B, Y1. how should the old labels correspond to the new ones?
Here is the schematic you will need. First off I will explain what each terminal is for. Y is for cooling. G is for fan operation. W is for heating operation. R is for your 24 volt transformer. A typical wiring color is as follows. R= red wire. G= green wire. Y=yellow. W=white. B and O are for a heat pump. Do not use them. Now what you will have to do is make sure the wires at the furnace are set the way described above. Make sure if you have to switch wires around on the furnace that the power is off. You WILL blow the low voltage fuse on the control board. If your furnace has a C terminal that is the COMMON That is used to power your thermostat. (so you don't have to use batteries). You will need a 5th wire for that. For the life of me I cant figure out why they did not put the proper color wires on the right terminals. It's a supper easy thing to change. Just remember to turn off the power before removing any wires. If you use this diagram, then it will be simple for anyone else to work on the system . I hope this helps. If you need any further information feel free to let me know and I will do my best to answer your questions. Good luck.
Q:my dogs have chewed my central air contactor wire.my ac will not cut on. does anyone knows how to replace them and where to buy replacement wires locally( i live in Dallas TX.) i would like to do it myself instead of spending a lot of money.
You shouldn't need to replace the wires, only splice them back together, color to like color. If you decide to replace them, they are 18 gauge. Depending on the unit that you have, there may be 2, 3, 5, 7, or 9 wires. Install the wire in 3/8 flex to prevent a repeat. Lowes and Home Depot will sell you the wire by the lenght you need. Ask for jacketed wire.
Q:I removed my range hood (switched off the electricity for it first) and there are three wires coming out of the wall. There's a white insulated, black insulated, and totally not insulated copper wire. What is the non-insulated copper wire? When I flip the electricity on, will it have a charge? It was weirdly wrapped around a screw in the box with the wiring...I'm not sure if it was doing anything. Thanks!
The copper wire is for ground. If there's a short, it is supposed to send the electricity into metal that leads into the soil. When you flip the switch, no charge should be in the copper wire... unless there is a short. Screw the weirdly-wrapped screw into something metal. If you have a metal utility box, screw it onto that, and you're range will be safe if there is a short.
Q:What does insulated wire do?How does it differ from regular wire used on breadboards?
Insulated wire is .... insulated. That is, it has a layer of plastic or rubber around it so that there is no exposed metal (except at the ends) and thus minimizes the shock hazard, and also helps prevent accidental shorts between wires. Non insulated wire is bare, it has no insulation, it's just a thin copper bar. You can use either on breadboards, so I don't know what you mean by regular wire. .
Q:Phone wire outside was old is anybody done that, do it your self put a new wire on?, Just curious to know..
anything after the demarcation (demarc) is your problem, anything on the telco side of the demarc is the local telco's problem. on your side, you can basically do what ever you want, but if you do it wrong, the telco has the right and OBLIGATION to disconnect your service. There are many sites on the internet that can instruct you in the Bell Standard Practice to wire your own phones. Just maintain the BSP and all will be right with the world.
Q:how to wire the alternator for a 77 mustang
Ever thought about just putting a one wire alternator in there and doing away with the external voltage regulator. Its a nice upgrade.
Q:i have a 92 saturn and bought the wire harness, i put all the wires together and all that turned on was the theft light that comes on when you take off the face after that i tried putting the red and yellow wires together and it worked, just without the key having to be in the ignition and i think that is why the stereo gets so hot so can youall tell me how to wire it correctly?
if leith was paying attention he would of realized you already have the wire that goes straight to the battery. YOU need a wire to hook up to the red one that comes on with the ignition. if the wire thats supposed to work for this dont for some reason you can 1. hook it into the fuse box with something that comes on with the key or 2.you can simply hook the yellow wire and a 4 foot peice of 12 g wire to the one that gives it power then with your extra wire run itout on the dash for a toggle switch and run that back to the red wire and remember to turn it off or you will have a dead battery in the morning :)
Q:ok so the passenger side back floorboard was getting wet and i believe the water to have corroded the wiring to my radio i've taken care of the water problem and know how to reconfigure the wiring but do i need to be worried about the security system while tinkering with the wiring see as how sensitive the security in these cars are i figured id check and see what you guys have to say about this pls also give resources as to how you know
If you are going to replace wire by wire , you can do that first unplug the battery and be very care full with orange and pink wires, try to solder the new wires the factory amplifier is in the trunk left side good luck new wiring is $700 from the dealer and the only place to buy it new good luck
Q:like can u use home power wire that is 4 gauge rather then getting the car power wire
Home okorder /... (spanky, well trying to run solid wire in a car would be a real task! lol) And, 4 gauge can handle more than 95 amps.
