Q:I'm trying to tighten the electrical wires on my car.Do I just use pliers and twist them tighter? Can I use my hands?-tightening the wires on my ignition switch and starterNeed to know asapNo B.S. just need to know how
I think that twisting with a pair of pliers is best, less chance of getting a nasty metal splinter in your skin.
Q:im assuming red to red and black to black? but then what about the extra green and white wires in the iphone cable? where do they go?
if you have a multimeter or a volt meter, ascertain the voltage at the amp. If youre interpreting 12V then the fuse for yourchronic furnish is sturdy, if no longer, replace the fuse. Then ascertain you have sturdy grounds (naked metallic, no painted surfaces, secured/bolted tight) If these are ok ascertain your distant cord. Its frequently a skinny blue cord as soon as you purchase the kits. it fairly is the on/off swap. if you have a manufacturing unit radio, then your distant replaced into hooked to an adjunct that good factors 12V at an analogous time as your motor vehicle key turns the upload-ons on (acts as a swap) like a cigarette lighter. If that cord is linked wisely to the amp yet its no longer exhibiting 12V, then its maximum possibly that the fuse for that distinctive accessory is out. replace it. If none of these solves the priority then the priority is with the amp itself. Have it appeared at. despite the fact that it may no longer be the battery because of the actual fact in case your battery replaced into undesirable, it wouldnt influence purely your amp, yet every little thing else on your motor vehicle.
Q:I was looking at the wiring of my current thermostat and I want to know why it's wired the way it is...The yellow wire was wrapped around the white terminal and the yellow terminal. And the white wire was wrapped the around the Orange terminal. The red and green wires were each wrapped around their respective terminals. And the blue wire wasn't connected to anything. Why would the electrician have wrapped the yellow wire around 2 terminals? Is that normal? Also, I tried installing a new thermostat but the heating is not working. The fan works but it just blows room temperature air. The new thermostat only had 4 terminals for R, Y, W, G. I connected the wires I had to their respective terminals. However, I think it may not be working because I have a probably have a heat pump. Any Ideas why else it might not be working? Thanks a lot!
Yeah it sounds like you have a heat pump and it is wired VERY basically. Your new thermostat will not work because it has no O terminal. You will have to buy a heat pump t-stat then wire it the same way your old one was and it should work fine. In other words Red to R and Rh if it has one, Green to G, Yellow to Y *AND* W, and White to O. Basically what's being done the way your old t-stat was wired is the compressor is being brought on in heat or cool and the white wire on O is switching your reversing valve for cooling mode. The way you have the new one wired is just going to switch the reversing valve and turn the fan on and won't bring the compressor on when the heat is called to run. If your system has backup heat, that extra blue wire could be used to bring the backup heat on if it is re-wired to do so. If your going to have it re-wired I would change the wiring so blue was the reversing valve and white was the backup heat. This would require re-wiring both indoor and outdoor units if it is a split system or re-wiring the package unit if it is that type. Or if you really want it done right have new thermostat wiring run and have it wired properly for a heat pump. If you don't want to go through all of that just buy a heat pump stat and wire it like your old stat.
Q:I just need to know what each wire is by the color because im trying to hook up my radio to it and the wires on it are different colors than the wires in my car i dnt kno wut is the ground/power/speaker wires or anything please help if you can. Thanks
go to auto zone or wal-mart or advance auto parts and buy the wiring kit for your car. they have them for just about every car made these days. cost like 10-15 bucks, and is a simple install.
Q:How do electric and other companies decide on strung wires in consideration of snowfall?
The spec on the wires includes enough strength to handle reasonable loads, such as snow and wind and ice. Actually snow is a very light load, compared to ice and wind. Usually they are a steel core with aluminum around it. The aluminum handles the current, the steel the mechanical loads.
Q:Is there such a wire that is able to be wired that can actually keep something cold, like insulated? If not, is there anything remotely like it? thank you for your help.
Insulated wires is commonly used for current carrying electrical wires. There is a cover of insulating material over the copper or aluminium wire which saves us from electric shock , short circuit etc. However, you are using the term insulating wires in the context of thermal insulation. There are so many thermal insulating materials as used in refrigerators and other applications but they are not in the shape of wires.
Q:I am in the process of installing a new thermostat, but I ran into the problem: new thermostat has 4 ports W, Y, R and G. But the old thermostat has 5 wires: W, Y, G and B. I am not sure where B wire (black color) should go. Do I need to look for another thermostat that has a port for B wire?
The black wire should be for ground. You and try to connect it without the black first to see if everything works ok, if it does tape off the black and tape it to the other wires. If not look at your UPM diagram and see which port is for ground and it should hook up with that wire. But I would double check with the heat pump wiring diagram to see what that black goes to and verify that wire with a multimeter.
Q:I have seen 2 wire detectors and horn strobes, and 4 wire detectors and horn strobes. What is the difference? The 2 wires are cheaper.
In 2-wire systems the power and the detector signal are multiplexed onto 2 wires. The detector has to have circuitry to extract the power and multiplex the signal onto the wires, making them slightly more complex. In 4-wire systems the power is separate from the signal, unless there is more than one signal from the detector (i.e. smoke heat). It could be 2 wires for power and 2 wires for a single signal (i.e. smoke), or 1 wire for power, 1 wire for smoke, and 1 wire for heat, with the 4th wire being common to all 3. .
Q:what gauge wires should i use for my 12'' alpine typr r SWR-1242D?
For the speaker wire going from the amp to the speaker? Try to stay above 16 gauge, I use 12 gauge as over-kill. It costs like 12 cents more per foot and is completely worth it. For the power wire going from the battery to the amp? Use no thinner than 4 gauge power and ground wire assuming your only pushing a single Type-R. Good Luck!
Q:I'm faced with a dilemma...I'm wiring my basement right now and all is fine, except for my living room. I want to have a 3-way switch setup, but with four light fixtures. I've already ran 3+ground wires in this order...Breaker box - Switch A - Fixture 1 - Fix. 2 - Fix. 3 - Fix. 4 - Switch B. I have done regular 3-way switches in the past, without much trouble, but I have no idea how to wire this, so well-explained instructions would be perfect. Thanks so much!
A normal three way has two wires switch to switch and one wire from each switch to the single light. All you have to do is wire the lights in parallel, Each wire will go to one side of all three lights. The light to light wiring is no different then any other multiple light on one switch wiring. Except in this situation the two wires are coming from two different switches.
