Q: Let's say you're on 3rd gear and there's a speed bump or a pedestrian crossing ahead and you have to slow down. Do you have to shift to a lower gear or can you just slightly press the clutch and the and the break? Also, it it possible to go from 1st gear straight to 4th, skipping 2nd and 3rd? Or do you have to change to each one at a time?
I've never heard of such a thing, but there probably is! Otherwise, you could get a job as a photographer for a newspaper, and take pictures of not just fires and stuff, but other large, local events!
Q: I have been with my girlfriend for four years and if we have a terrible argument and I end up making her cry, I feel like the biggest bastard and try to apologize and comfort her, but whenever I try to, she locks herself in the bathroom for over an hour and avoids speaking with me. Half the time I sit there by the bathroom door, waiting so I can fully apologize and after wards she doesn't try resolving anything or explaining what I did wrong to upset her and she just goes straight to bed leaving me baffled and unsure of what to do next. Why does she do this? It makes me feel so helpless half the time, because I really dislike upsetting her and seeing her cry.She does the same thing if I watch a movie with her, where she finds it heartbreaking. She'll quickly rush off into the bathroom and then a minute later she'll come out and it'll be obvious she was crying and she'll deny it. Do you think she just doesn't like showing her feelings in front of me?
you can buy a set of manifold guages online. - typical high side pressure (thats the smaller line) will range between 200 - 300 psig. Depending on the outdoor temperature. Instead of reading the pressure on the gauge read the temperature / number on the inner dial for R-22 that correlates to the pressure. That number should be 20 to 30 higher than whatever the outside temperature is. Low side should read between 60 to 70 psig depending again what the temperature is inside. - No. No static pressure test. the units needs to be running and the conditions should be atleast 70 F outside. And checking pressures alone will not tell you if the systems charged or operating correctly. A superheat check will give you an idea. Take the temperature of the suction line / larger pipe minus the pressure/temperature of the coil. Ex. 50 F line - 70 psig (roughly 40 F, found on the inner dial thats green) 10 F superheat. This is only enough to give you an idea, a good superheat check alone will not tell you that the systems is charged correctly, ecspecially if there is a TXV. Pressures, temperatures, superheat, subcool, will all very based on conditions (outside temperature, indoor wet bulb, airflow) Pressure and temperature readings which may be acceptable one day may not be another day as conditions change. When hooking on your hoses bleed the air out at the ends, and if you don't have low loss fittings expect to loose apprx. 3-5 ounces of refrigerant when you take off the high side which will be liquid refrigerant spraying out for a few seconds, so be sure to wear gloves, or learn how to recycle the refrigerant back into the low side from the high side before taking off your hoses.
Q: Were there fire hoses on the top floors of the Asch Bldg? What was the source of water and water pressure?
If the govt. wanted to refund my 35 years of lay away payments to Medicare I would have no objection to it's abolition.
Q: any fruit that has a fiber that can help resist fire like that of a fire blanket
Forktail is wrong you do NOT need a MC permit to take the class. You need only to be able to ride a bicycle and have a CA driver license. Oh, and have a pair of boots that COVER your ankles, a pair of sunglasses, a long-sleeve shirt (or jacket, since it is getting a bit colder), and jeans. Also needed is a DOT or Snell-approved helmet (buy one if you're serious, or borrow a friend's) and (motocross, riding or leather) gloves that are full-fingered, not fingerless. I should know I took the class at Palomar College. It is three days of fun, but you have to look at it as fun, or you will fail. If you take it seriously, you will have little, if any, problems. My 3-day class (Fri-Sat-Sun) was 5hrs class on Fri, 5hrs class Sat, 5hrs riding Sat, and ~5hrs riding and testing Sun. Class is easy you're given a workbook, and go thru motorcycling that was very interesting, not boring stuff. Riding was really fun. You use 125's or 250's and you are really taught from the very beginning how to mount a bike, turn it on, ride it, basic riding skills, drills and it culminates to a riding test you MUST pass to get your safety license and that is important because it gives you a free pass at DMV from taking a riding test on a bike. You only need to take the written. Know that when you do march into DMV with your motorcycle safety certificate, when you take the written, you WILL take half of a driver test (to check if you still know the rules of the road as a driver of a car) as well as the motorcycle part of the test. Highly recommend going to DMV before class and get the motorcycle handbook (and get the automobile one, in case you are nervous about that part of the test couldn't hurt to just pick one up). Doing this class is probably the smartest thing you can do prior to riding on the street. Good luck to you!
Q: What are the national standards for pipe connections (R (PT)) with tapered tubes at both ends? Thank you
60 degrees taper pipe thread: NPT3/4 "55 degrees taper pipe thread: external thread -R3/4", internal thread -Rc3/4"
Q: Most people have seen the model of the lung with a balloon. How is this different from the actual lung itself? Also what is the advantage of the actual structure of the lungs?
It depends on the surface on which the lightning strikes, the material surrounding the impact zone (wood, mettal, plaster, etc) allso the earthing of the house.Normaly the electronics which ate plugged in will be destroyed (also dengerous if using wirelless phones on the exact moment), generaly on buildings without lightning rod's a small flame occurs at the impact zone but rapidly extinguishes.
Q: I'm going to school at UC Davis in a month and bought a 9 inch kryptonite u-lock for my bike but I'm not sure if it is long enough. I found 12 inch u-locks online and thought maybe those would work better? Any help/advice?
Because they don't have YOU as a shining beacon of hope. Is 12$ your not-very-English speaking way of saying $12? Edit: Bikes aren't supposed to be ridden on sidewalks. Where I live, we have these things called bike lanes (that are even panted green through intersections) and their use is pretty strcitly enforced.
Q: When braking at low speeds (like 10 MPH), a click emanates from underneath the front of the car. A second click comes when I release the brake.I can hear this same sound when driving over bumps at low speeds. It is a little louder, and more of a clack, but sounds like it is coming from the same spot.I do not ever hear it at higher speeds, but this could be because of background air friction and traffic noise. It is faint when I have the windows closed, but very noticeable when the windows are open. This has been going on for a while, but I have noticed it more because it is warm enough to keep my windows open. Brake performance appears to be unaffected. The vehicle is a 2001 Ford Taurus.
Most hardware stores carry them as they are worn in construction also.
Q: Every time we turn on the heat, there is a terrible oil smell that comes up from the basement. It gives everyone in the house headaches, irritated throats and eyes. Can anyone explain why and how to resolve this?
They don't mind them in UK. Our fire hydrants are flush with the ground. However, dogs here seem to dislike trees(and my back once when I was sitting on the ground).
