My suggestion is that if you are noise aversive then you need to go down to Sears/BestBuy and try every vacuum they have yourself, don't rely on another person to tell you how loud a vacuum is. But as a general rule, the better quality the motor is and the less moving parts there are, the quieter the vacuum is. Also strong plastics, good quality construction, and tight fitting parts will also help in noise reduction. Over time cheap plastic bodies will start to rattle more as well as the screws that hold them. And duct tape does not fix everything, I’ve tried.

I have both a Bosch and Miele and they make great high-end vacuums (w/Hepa filters). They are also eerily quiet. Make sure you shop around online and check out Consumer Reports before you spend that kind of money.

Q:Can anyone please help me! I am soooo serious here...I have purchased two vacuum cleaners and they both SUCK. Bissel allergy one with the canister that you empty...It does not vacuum well at all, I can pick up stuff off the carpets better that the that. And then I bought a eureka vacuum from costco, not only is it hard to push, 4 months the screw came off the handle and is in the vaccum itself.....It is supposed to be industrial, and it is with a bag....and NEVER ever have I seen such scrap....I have new carpets so that is not the problem here...I also have pets....I do not want a tyson 3000 or whatever they are called...although they say they are good, and after what I have spent in these 2 vacuums I should have bought the tyson...So any suggestions or what you like would be appreciated...I am just fed up with picking up JUNK :PThanks you all..

I love my dyson vacuum. I can almost take it apart to clean out a clog tube or to clean the rotating brush. I have 5 animals and it picks up animal hair with ease. My son vacuums for me a lot.
