if your check engine light is on then there must be engine trouble code stores. Get it scanned and do proper diagnostic. Just guessing is going to cost you $$$. You can go to many auto parts store (like Autozone) and have it scanned for free. And they will tell you what might be the problem As for the water in you oil, that sounds like blown gasket. That's gonna cost you (no cheap fixes). I did my budd's gasket about 2 weeks ago for the same problem. Good Luck.

. I think it might be illegal to tamper with your lights, but maybe that's only in Canada. But I imagine any shop that can install a car alarm could help you. ...for maybe $400. NAPA or some auto parts store might have some module you can just solder in but it's unlikely.

They mention different codes while none of my mechanics cannot find anything wrong in the systems and the car runs fine. I have spend money on diagnostics and replacement of parts to then few months later have the light on again.Are they tampering? Is there something wrong that has not been fixed? One of my mechanics said it could be anything small, such as a leak, or something loose. He says he cannot find it. The Toyota people obviously neither.Any idea?

Probably a bad sensor that works most of the time then acts up again after a while. O2 sensor Bad fuel or cheap fuel. Loose connection or frayed wires.

Q:Ok so I was driving and out of nowhere my engine light comes on and when I would complete a stop on a light my car would shake. It also kinda wanted to turn off on me but it didn‘t. And when I was in a stop and then accelerated my car would take out white smoke out of the exhaust. Also when I would try to accelerate it would have trouble accelerating it didn‘t want to go. sounds like blown head gasket. white smoke good indication. the engine probably fuel injected? so engine trying compensate gas to the mix. the computer tries adjust the fuel mix in the engine apparently can't do it. so be my best guess. though could be other things too. if not head gasket maybe get compression test done but sounds engine internal.

the check engine light does not stay on for no reason First are u sure its the check engine light? If it is then there is a code in the system. You may have to take it to a more qualified person i have not had good luck with auto zone. To clear the light you will need a scan tool. A auto shop has a scan tool. Some people say disconnecting the battery will clear the light, but it wont the computer still stores the code.
