- Q: I just dropped a candle on my light colored carpet and red candle wax is everywhere. Any ideas on how to remove it?
- Use a butter knife scrap off as much as possible. Next use some paper, such as news paper or typing paper put an iron on low heat....use the paper over the wax heat it with the iron. The heat will draw the wax into the paper...be very careful ... don't leave the iron for a long time ... keep checking how it is doing ... as it draws into the paper ... keep changing it with fresh paper so you don't spread the wax ... don't melt your carpet with high heat settings. Good luck.

- according to the size of the rug, place cookie sheets with water in them around the edges. cats hate water and will turn away from the rug. they wont forget and you will have your rug back.
- Q: We are trying to get the carpet in one of our bedrooms in our house replaced, but we are on a tight budget. We went to home depot and they said they would have to charge us around $900 to replace all the carpet padding and install the new carpet. we said that we would leave the same padding (to save money), but the woman told us that it is an ohio state law that carpet companies MUST replace the padding if they are going to replace the carpet too. another company we called said this isn't true. was the lady at home depot just trying to get more money out of us, or is there really a carpet padding law? I cant seem to find anything about it. any help is appreciated.
- Bull Hocks. You will not find anything written because it's simply not true. Your salesperson is not telling you the truth. She is probably just trying to jack up the price so she can make more money. Or she may be ignorant. Any carpet can be loose-layed or glued directly to the sub-floor. In many cases it is necessary. For instance, it is difficult for someone that is wheelchair bound to roll over a floor made too soft by carpet padding. And some people put carpet into wet areas such as a kitchen or bathroom. That carpet is not attached to the floor so it can be pulled back easily in case of a water spill. Attaching carpet in this case over a pad underlayment would be ludicrous. Find another salesperson or better yet, go to another store.

- This rug has been abused on many occasions with so called cleaning/deodorizing powders. There are several of these products on the market. They are all a rip off, as they do not vacuum back out as the directions say. This rug will continue to bleed off these powders as long as you own it. Sorry, but the manufacturers of these products are practicing a scam on the general public, who are trying to save a buck or two by not having the carpet professionally cleaned when it becomes dirty.

- Carpet, avoid direct sunlight, but can not prevent wood drying, dehydration, still may crack.

- 1. assume d carpet is so tightly rolled dat it can b treated as a right circular cylinder 2. let the radius of this rolled carpet be R width W, then volume V = pi*R^2*W 3. measure thickness of carpet accurately, say = t then V = W*t*L 4 equating the two, W*t*L = pi*R^2*W or L = pi*R^2 / t u don't hv 2 measure d width, only R t [ actually, better 2 measure D use R = D/2 ] happy new year !!!

- Empire carpet is just one who will come to your home and install the next day. Why drive around? USE Google or any online search in your area. Pay for the carpet, not the gas. If they are not in your area ask them for a lead for your area if they know one. If all else fails use the phone book. smaller areas don't use the internet.
- Q: I have talked to 4 companies about re-carpeting our home and all they can do is dog on other companies and say how they are the best. They all give contradicting advice. - Stain Master is just a name. You pay a bit more for Stain Master because they advertise on T V .Almost all stain blockers are the same.They cover the same types of stains and you treat them the same. Like any product ,carpet is a competitive market so you will get competition. What you have to do is compare carpets from one place to another. Compare warranties,the weight of the carpet and the wear warranties. Once you compare apples to apples only you can get a fair judgment. Compare installation costs, is furniture moving and rip out of the old included? See in the installers are certified. This may cost a bit more but worth it. Non certified installers can some times void warranties. Not all carpets have stain blockers , most do but not all. Take all warranties with a grain of salt. - Dark purple is quite a commitment for wall-to-wall carpeting! Think about how long you plan to live with this color scheme before you make such a bold leap. You might consider a neutral carpet for the wall-to-wall (or a hard surface like wood or tile) and then use an area rug with all the colors of the room in it. Area rugs anchor a seating area and are also great at the foot of the bed. Rugs with pattern create visual interest and don't have to be expensive. You can get a 5 x 7 rug, in nylon, for under $200.
- Q: can anyone offer some advice on how to get wood stain out of california berber carpet?
- What colour is the carpet? When we moved into our house there was a very dark brown stain in the middle of the pink carpet. We'd had the carpets cleaned but it remained. I got some bleach and a pink Chux (I don't know whether you have this product where you are but it is a think cleaning cloth). The bleach removed the stain out of the carpet and the pink from the Chux was transferred to the carpet. You can now not tell at all where the stain was.
