Q: Hello Everyone. Im a 23 year old female and I joined a new gym in which they have a bench press club. All males have to bench press their weight in 8 reps, while the woman have to bench 65% of their weight, 8 reps as well.I was a 3 sport athlete in high school and a collegiate softball player as well. I just graduated in December...I thought I think I wanna live up to the challenge and try to be in the bench press club. I weigh 148 which means I have to bench press 96lbs 8 times. Which doesnt seem like alot the only problem is I dont really know how to I train for this?? I always do cardio everyday, but dont bench press or light weights and its been 5 months since I lifted actively while I was in college playing sports.Granted they do have trainers at the gym, but their arms as as big as my head and I dont want to make myself look like a fool, lol! Can anyone help me??? please?? thanks :)
its very nice you are willing to participate in such a fun and great way to excercise as lifting weights......now to answer your question bench pressing involves 3 major muscle groups working together to lift said weight, those muscle groups being the pectoralis major aka your chest.... Tricep aka the back of your arms.... . Front Deltoid aka the front of your shoulder... improving your bench press weight is NOT that difficult, i would personally recommend selecting a weight you feel comfortable with and start practicing we shall call it....try to learn proper form, how it SHOULD feel in each muscle group to lift the weight to full exstension, once you get proper form down start to gradually add weight as you do this more and more....youll find yourself getting stronger and stronger each time.... i would personally recommend a session of lighter weight/ higher rep 4 sets of 15 lets say on monday and then a session of higher weight/lower rep for friday....doing 4 sets of 6-8 the lighter weight higher rep will improve your endurance while the lower weight higher rep will improve your strength.....make sure using the lower weight and higher weight you should be FAILING at the max reps i suggested, once u hit 8 reps or 15 reps you should be tired....give yourself a 1-2 minute breather and knock out the next set REST IN BETWEEN AND EAT WELL....both very important things hope i helped

Hi, It could be bad if your fan is no longer working (not cooling the CPU). What you need to do is take the side panel off of your computer and look inside while the computer is powered on. You will see a fan about four inches across with the blades facing you. If the fan is not spinning shut down your computer and take it to a repair shop or look online for a replacement. Q: Does the press work better with cold cookie dough or room temp cookie dough? So far room temp has been hard to work with and won't come off the plastic disk easily. I use my cookie dough at room temp. The best way for the cookie gun is to chill your baking sheets in the refridge for 5 minutes becuase the dough will then stick to the sheets and come off the gun easily. I uasally give the trigger 2 squeezes then tilt back and pull up on the gun. Don't grease or use any parchment papper at all.
Q: why does it seem that the bench press is targeting my arms. I could feel my arms weared out after a set and not my chest. Could it be I'm doing it wrong?? I dont know its pretty hard to do the bench press wrong if I'm not mistakened.
Well the bench press works mainly with the chest but definetly does work the arms also. The reason that you probrably dont feel it as much in your chest area is because you arent bringing the bar low enough. Once your elboe goes lower than your chest, your arms will need more help from the chest. Another possibility may be that your chest is stronger than your arms and it just feels more sore in your arms since they are working harder.
Q: Hi, I just wanted to ask a question about basic press-ups.For the last few weeks i've been doing 100 press ups a night, in two sets of 50 (with a good few minutes break in between), anyway i noticed a huge difference at first, but for a while it's not actually improving anything. Anyway i was wondering if it would be effective to switch this exericse to alternative days, and on the other days to do 50 normal press ups, 10 narrow ones (with hands together touching) and 10 wide ones (with arms considerably far apart) or other amounts depending on how difficult it will prove; so my question is would this prove effecitve and is it worthwhile? Otherwise i'll just continue with 100 press ups.Many thanks
the best thing you could do to get results with press ups at this stage (seeing as you can do more than 50 pushups) is to condense your workouts one set once or twice a week doing as many pushups as you can till failure. that's it. each time you do pushups try and do more than you did previously and that will help you get results. another good way to go about getting results with press ups is to switch to a more difficult variation whcih will decrease the number of reps you can do. you can also try wearing a backpack with weights put inside to weigh you down as you do the press ups.
Q: I just started bench pressing twice a week. I want to build muscle on my chest. I also do flat bench though so I'm not desperate to see results quickly. This is my second week of bench pressing twicedumbbell flies. I love doing them because I can feel the workout a lot on my chest. I see what you are going through because I am going through the same thing. I do dumbell chest flies and dumbell chest presses, lateral raises, each consisting of right now 3 circuits of 20 reps of each exercise(3 times a week) and for me i did not start seeing results not until after 3 weeks . answering your question you should be seeing results at around 3-6 weeks. because it depends on many factors e.g what you are eating? how many times you do your exercise a week? and your body type. I would also suggest you doing 20-30 reps of lateral raises into your work out. going to your second question.as far as protein drinks i have the same fear as you have. that is why i don't drink it right now.(eventually I am going to give it a try) but I hear it doesn't make you fat. I helps you repair give nutrients your muscle tissue during your off workout hours. I hope that this information helps you. and remeber don't expect your body to look the way you want it to be over night. it takes a long time to get it there.
