After hot-rolled the products shaped into coil and delivery as finished product, including round, square, rectangular, hexagonal and so on. Since most of the products are round, it is generally called wire rod. Carbon steel wire rod is widely used in construction and manufacturing. Carbon steel wire rod is mainly used for reinforcement of reinforced concrete and welded structure or reprocessed (roberts , nail, etc.) materials, especially used to produce wire drawing, welding electrode, nails, spring, electronic, precise machinery parts and so on.

Then the cross sectional area is π(R_Al)? for the aluminum wire and π(ρ_Cu)? for the copper wire: π(R_Al)?/π(ρ_Cu)? = ρ_Al / ρ_Cu R_Al/R_Cu = √(ρ_Al / ρ_Cu) = √(2.82/1.72) = 1.28 The aluminum wire must be 28% thicker than the copper wire in order to provide the same resistance.

- wrong wire is not wire. the gauge is the size of wire but the material and insulation determine the wattage it is capapble of carrying. cheap wire carries less current than non-cheap wire does.
- Q:Hi, I've got two new appliances (range hood fan/light and bathroom exhaust fan). Both are installed but not wired. My house is older, build in 1940s and the previous appliances were wired using the existing copper wiring which runs through the house. I'd like to electrically install these new appliances but am concerned about connecting the new appliance wiring (aluminum wiring i think?) to the copper wiring in the house.Is it safe to pigtail these two wires together? Or is there a better, more safe method?Thanks
- You might find a holy war of electricians on this topic but to simplify. It is not safe to connect copper to aluminum wiring when the aluminum is SOLID core. Many new fixtures come with a silver colored wiring that is STRANDED and these are connected to copper wires as general practice without any problems.

- The Remote wire is a wire (usually Blue or Blue/White) that comes out the rear of the Head Unit (CD Player) that supplies a +12V output when the Headunit is powered up and switches off when the Headunit is powered down. Some head units have a Remote and System Remote, in this type of system the system remote is as described and the Remote switches on and off when you switch between Radio and CD, this feed is usually used for an electric antenna or to power a booster.. -Daz
- Q:While updating the parents basement we needed to replace a very very old 3 way switch. However, the wiring to the Fluorescents seems extreme to me. Here is how i can describle the layout. Panel - junction box - double splice (one to light fixture and one to threeway switch below it)-. From that threeway switch 12-3 wiring to upstairs landing with other threeway switch resides. How should I make my connections to switches? If the other swtiches were not so old I would just copy them.
- A hot wire from the panel to the first three way switch on the common screw. Two runner wires between the two switches on the other two screws. A wire from the common screw on the second switch to the hot wire on the light fixtures. A neutral wire to the light fixtures from the panel. Look at Bert's pictures.

- It means the wire is #8 not #3/0. Also, be very leary of buying wire from unknown sources. A single pinhole in the insulation can lead to failure in a year or so underground.
