- A diesel power plant is a stationary installation incorporating one or more diesel generator sets with controls and switchgear. Diesel plants are usually used as emergency backup systems for military installations, hospitals, and other vital installations that depend on reliable electric power. There are also diesel power plants that are the only power supply for remotely located installations and communities; for example, remote radar stations and island resort towns. In a diesel plant, there are one or more diesel generator sets, consisting of a diesel engine and a suitable generator. A typical arrangement would involve three generators of which any two can handle the peak load while the third can be held as a standby unit or dismantled for major maintenance at intervals. There will be a switchyard that contains the electrical contactors and safety devices for connecting the generators to the grid as needed, and there will be control panels for the individual generators, as well as synchronizing gear to keep the generators in phase. In many installations these controls are computerized and can be operated and monitored at a distance over the internet or other communications arrangement. Also, there will be arrangements for handling the fuel required by the engines. Often there is a large tank and separate day tanks for each engine. This type of arrangement helps ensure that the entire supply is not lost in case the fuel plumbing or day tank for one generator set springs a leak.
- Q:For hydropower how much MWh can be generated with same capacity plant?. (Because plant never run for 24 hours of the day we need a factor to calculate above value)

- You need a 12 volt to 120VAC inverter that can power the pump. If you can get your car near the still, you can hook the inverter to your car battery. You need to start the car every so often and recharge the battery. I hope you car engine is quiet enough. Might want to have a spare battery in case you run it down too low to start the car.
- Q:I guess the batteries are just extra weight - I'm not looking for an exact math answer, I could do the same thing. Or use a different gen, etc. to increase HP. I'm just interested in this concept of using the generator to move the vehicle along till real power is contributed by a battery bank.
- As you increase horsepower, you increase weight. Refer back to your original question, I listed some useful answers that apply here as well. The basic principle you are thining of is exactly the principle of a modern Diesel electric locomotive short of the battery bank. As a concept- it is very workable. 3 Phase power has an advantage to it of space and weight savings for the horsepower versus single phase.

- To answer your second question first: no it won't work. These systems are nothing but a cruel scam designed to con people out of their hard-earned cash. Yes, you'll find plenty of people (some who will no doubt post answers here) that claim it works, I'm saving .% after fitting it to my car. Go to for more information But they are invariably lying. Why are they lying? Because these scams work by recruiting affiliates who are effectively paid to lie about the system. When they tell these lies and convince people to visit those sites, they earn up to $50 for each sale that's made. My investigations have revealed that virtually none of the people who join these affiliate schemes and promote these hoaxes save any fuel -- and that's because they don't even have devices fitte to their own vehicles - they're only in it for the money. But if you want to find out more about the scam and why the claims made for these water powered car systems are bogus, visit the site I've linked to below. And as to your first question: you can not build an HHO generator because there is no such thing as HHO gas. When you perform electrolysis on water (regardless of whether you use straight DC or pulsed DC), all that you get is a mix of H2 and O2. This mythical HHO gas they're talking about simpy dos not exist because unless they're in a plasma (ultra-high temperature), hydrogen atoms immediately bond to form a hydrogen molecule (H2). So there is *no* magic HHO gas, just a mixture of hydrogen (H2) and oxygen (O2) molecules in a 2:1 ratio. What's more, since only a tiny amount of this gas can be generated using the avaiable electrical energy your car's alternator can deliver, it does *nothing* to improve your fuel efficiency and in fact will *reduce* the efficiency. Now just sit back and watch the scammers try to tell you otherwise and refer you to their websites so they can make some money out of you. :-) Please tell your friends and family about this scam so they don't get conned too.

- All construction work is dangerous. Oil drilling is more dangerous than most construction because it is done in very hostile environments. All of the easy oil has already been pumped. Oil also creates situations of political instability that adds to the problem, such as in Nigeria and Iraq.

- Q:I have a bunch of old diesel left over from y2k, a family friend stored 10k gallons and its turned a brown color, it dosent small funny at least to me, still looks red if you put it up to the light but it is not vivid red like it used to be it has a dingy brown color. It was originally RED diesel.Im afraid to run this in my generator, is there any additive I can add to clean it up or fix it that you have PERSONAL experience with.?
