Your okorder.com/... You can get a hose connection adapter for your tap. You could make one yourself with a toilet float valve. Setting up a pump on a timer may cause you a flood or water damage. It's not a good idea to leave such a system unattended for a few days. You might be better off my leaving several water bowls out if it's only a few days. Good luck!

Remove the lower unit. Place the lower unit in a stand if available. unbolt the waterpump housing and lift off and over the shaft. Place new water pump lower piece on lower unit. slide the new impeller down the shaft and line up with shaft key and slide into place. place water pump upper housing on shaft and slide down over impeller, turning shaft a bit to bend impeller blades. Bolt down housing, grease shaft splines and put lower unit back on. You may find it easier to change the lower unit oil while you have it off.

12 hours on a civic DX. I am a honda mechanic and I will say that this job only takes 2 hours, 4 hours if your slow and never done it before. Mind you this includes timing belt, water pump, cam seal, crankshaft seal, serpentine belts, valve cover gasket, spark plugs if needed, Honda coolant, and valve adjustment. If you are 1 tooth off on timing your Honda will run, but it will run very rough. Sounds to me like they may have the timing 1 tooth off, 2 teeth off and the car just wont run and if it does it will barely run. This car needs to be taken back and everything i told you should have been done and done properly. What probably happened is the dealer let an apprentice work on the car, since this civic is the easiest to do a timing belt on. However its still their fault that it was not done properly.

ok well the water pump is a pretty easy fix if you pop the hood and look to the left side of the engine you will see your serpintine belt the water pump is the pully on top closest to the front of the car and that is prob like an hour to an hour and a half repair. now your thermostat is on the opposite side of the engine buried under your throttle body and is labor intensive possibly up to 3 hrs so if i was you, and i had a relitivly new grand am and the bearings were gone in the water pump i would leave the thermostat alone and fix the pump, why fix whats not broke especially if its gonna cost alot. chances are you dont need a thermostat. at NAPA it will cost like 25-35 dollars for the water pump. dont bother with the thermostat.

You need to get the large nut lose. It holds the fan/fan clutch to the water pump shaft. After you get that off it's all down hill from there.A large adjustable wrench will work on the nut but you will need to keep pump from turning to loosen it. I think it may be left hand thread. It is not on real tight. The book will help on this one.
