Q:I was offered a job in the same general posistion for a YOUNG company that has offered me 15.00 more a hour, lead position, training in a differnt brand of the same product I work on and, basicly the freedom to choose my own hours (avg. 40-55 hrs). Or do I stay where I am at were I have some stabability, lead position, unstable hours (avg. 40-65 hrs plus nights away from home/family), possabilities of advancment and, a since of loyalty to bosses. I could be wrong, but it depends on how many years you've been working there and how many people depend on your steady paycheck. I don't know the industry your working in, but it's possible that those hours could be the norm for a person in your present position. Sometimes, casual promises, of better pay or hours are worth what you pay for them and are not a guarantee. If you aren't having trouble communicating with your boss, have a talk, tell him how you feel about it. He might surprize you!. Good Luck!

You would simply use a step-up transformer capable of handling 240V and about 8A. The transformer would be a transformer with 2 secondary windings for every 1 primary winding. This will double the voltage from the primary. 1000W is 1000W no matter what the voltage is. So (in a perfect world), you would get 1000W after stepping the voltage up to 240V. But you would actually get around 80-85% efficiency. But there is always a safety span built into the rating of generators (a 1000W generator could usually put out about 1400W without much of a problem). 1000W 120V * 8.33A (or 110V * 9.1A) 1000W 240V * 4.16A ---Realistically, you should be able to safely draw about 4A @ 240V. If you are talking about the truck (traction) motors on a locomotive, then whole power system! diesel engine, generator, exciter generator, truck motors, can range anywhere from seven hundred horsepower for a switch engine up to several thousand horsepower for a line haul locomotive. The traction motors get their power from the generator which is connected to the diesel engine. There is no direct mechanical connection from the diesel engine to the wheels. All the diesel engine does is turn the generator. The power from the generator is what running the traction motors which in turn drives the wheels of the locomotive. That is where the term diesel over electric comes from. In short the diesel engine drives the generator. The power from the generator drives the traction motors. The traction motors drive the wheels. The wheels drive the locomotive. The amount of power the generator puts out is controlled by two things. How fast it is turning (number of RPM and how much excitation voltage it's fields are being excited with by the exciter generator. Both the RPM's and the excitation voltage is controlled by the engineer. The advantage of using diesel over electric is they can tandem several locomotives together to pull long trains and be able to control them all from the lead engine. (Locomotive) As far as size Look at the trucks on the locomotive. The area between the wheels is pretty muchly taken up by the traction motors. Here is another fact. The generator is a DC generator and the traction motors are DC motors. Most of the time they are series wound DC motors for better starting torque since they are always coupled to a load. Here is another fact from the been there done that file! Traction motors are nasty and dirty to work on like when you have to change brushes and seat the new brushes and horne the commutator

You should consider a data center if you are going to do anything more than low traffic personal web pages and brochure-ware web pages. Data centers provide more reliable connectivity with a massive economy of scale. They also provide physical security, cooling, and power reliability you would not be able to achieve as economically. While you will eventually want to own the hardware, starting out you may not have the volume to justify it. How dose the cash flow series of buying compare to leasing at the beginning of your business? Depending on where you add value it may even be worth while to start as a reseller. Before you decide to host locally talk to your telco about leased lines, Service Level Agreements, and minimum committed bit rates. I hope this helps.

No damage. truckers do it every night to run the A/C or the heater. There is a cheaper way; generator or wind charger or hydroelectric. My honda generator can do 4 hrs on about 1/2 gal. If you need DC only you could build a gen using a car alternator (internally regulated, one wire) and a lawnmower engine.
Q:i recently bought a reflux still it requires a 120 volt water pump to run it so my problem is i have the pump i just cant figure out how to get power i cannot use a gas or diesel generator cause it is to loud moon shining is illegal so the generator will get me caught i need a way to power the 120 volt water pump quietly and i don't got a lot of money in my budget so i need a way to power it for under a hundred dollars
You need a 12 volt to 120VAC inverter that can power the pump. If you can get your car near the still, you can hook the inverter to your car battery. You need to start the car every so often and recharge the battery. I hope you car engine is quiet enough. Might want to have a spare battery in case you run it down too low to start the car.
