Q:An electric generating plant boils water to produce high- pressure steam. The steam spins a turbine that is connected to the generator. Can anyone help me with this please? I used pv=nRT and got 4.53 mol but im not sure how to get the liters of water out of that.
( 1 ) You need the volume of the boiler. ( 2 ) The Ideal Gas Law does not work well for such a high pressure. ( 3 ) Assume boiler volume, VB, is 100,000 L. ( 4 ) Steam Table for superheated steam at 5.0 Mpaa. ( 50 atm. ) and 400 C gives a steam specific volume of 0.05784 cu. m. per kg. or 57.84 L. per kg. ( 5 ) Steam mass, m , is: m = ( VB ) /( v ) m = (100,000 L.) / ( 57.84 L. per kg. ) m = 1729 kg. steam / water needed ( 6 ) If the liquid water is saturated liquid at 5.000 Mpaa.( 50 atm. ) , liquid specific volume from steam table is 1.286 L. per kg. V = ( m ) ( v ) V = ( 1729 kg. ) ( 1.286 L. / kg. ) = 2223 L. ---------------------------- You would need 2223 L. of liquid water at 50 atm. vaporized at 50 atm. and superheated to 400.0 C to fill boiler with a volume of 100,000 L.
Q:How do Boiler Systems work?
Go okorder and type in boiler. You'll see a long article with pictures that explains. I think the best article you may want to read there is called something like how to troubleshoot a boiler.
Q:why do my radiators cycle hot and cold in the winter
Just like a forced air furnace, your thermostat controls the heat in your apartment. When your apartment cools the thermostat tells the boiler and a zone valve heat is needed. Your zone valve opens on a call for heat allowing hot water to flow through your radiator and cycle in the system heating your apartment. After the desired temperature is reached the zone valve closes shutting off the flow of the hot water so as it cools from not being cycled through the boiler is why your radiator cools until there is a call for heat again.
Q:ok so im making reindeer bark tomorrow which is a dessert/ food. basically im gonna melt some white chocolate chips (nestle toll house premier white brand) and then sprinkle in some crushed up peppermint candies and then put it in the fridge to harden. I don't have a double boiler so can I just boil some water in a pot place a glass bowl over top with the chocolate inside? will it start to cool off too fast and turn all half melted gross? should I add some butter or will this make my reindeer bark gross. how exactly should I go about this
Your idea is actually pretty good. Another option is to microwave. Be sure to check it every 15 seconds and stir. It doesn't have to be melted completely. Take it out of the microwave and stir until completely melted.
Q:The boilers water pump does not have enough pressure to top up pressure through filling loop have to do it by manual water hand pump
The two matters to which you refer are totally unconnected. The pump in the boiler is to circulate heating water around the heating system. If you cannot pressurise the system with the filling loop properly then the boiler should not have been installed in the first place. A combi boiler needs a minimum working pressure and flow rate to work properly. I would suggest firstly you get the installer back if its just been fitted or contact the water board to see why you pressure is so poor.
Q:Plz explain the difference and applications for both boiler. If any pictures available means kindly send .in
There are fire tube boilers where the products of combustion travel through the tubes to heat the water. These are sometime called Scotch marine boiler. There are tube type boilers where the water is in the tubes but the tubes are connected at top and bottom by drums. The bottom drum is called the mud drum and the top is the steam drum where the water level in the boiler is maintained and the steam is separated from the water. The coil type boiler is a special version of the water tube boiler in that the tubes are formed in a spiral. The links below will give some additional information.
Q:does any one know why?
sounds like your boiler may need serviced. I have seen some boiler do that on shutdown but your pilot flame is probably weak and lazy, where a clean pilot would most likely not go out. have it serviced
Q:what is a steam boiler?
A boiler or steam generator is a device used to create steam by applying heat energy to water. Although the definitions are somewhat flexible, it can be said that older steam generators were commonly termed boilers and worked at low to medium pressure (1–300 psi/0.069–20.684 bar; 6.895–2,068.427 kPa) but, at pressures above this, it is more usual to speak of a steam generator. An industrial boiler, originally used for supplying steam to a stationary steam engineA boiler or steam generator is used wherever a source of steam is required. The form and size depends on the application: mobile steam engines such as steam locomotives, portable engines and steam-powered road vehicles typically use a smaller boiler that forms an integral part of the vehicle; stationary steam engines, industrial installations and power stations will usually have a larger separate steam generating facility connected to the point-of-use by piping. A notable exception is the steam-powered fireless locomotive, where separately-generated steam is transferred to a receiver (tank) on the locomotive.
Q:My water runs hot then turns cold on my combi boiler, what can i do, help please.
If the boiler is sufficient for heating but doesn't produce enough hot water, ask your plumber about adding a separate hot water holding tank, which uses a small amount of fuel, usually gas or electric, to hold a large amount of water ready for those long winter showers.
Q:The workflow is as follows
And then down the pipe down to the water wall into the collection box, the formation of soft water mixture rose back to the drum, through the soft drinks separator
