Q: Just moved into a new house and the basement is already wired for surround sound. The ends are two wires one silver one gold/brass wrapped together with plastic. Looks like they were cut at the ends. How difficult would it be to wore the speakers myself?
If the wire you are referring to is standard speaker wire, then you wire it to your speakers, at one end, and to your receiver, at the other end, the same way that you normally wire up speakers. In other words, always connect the same colour of wire to each positive connection, and the other colour to all of the negative connections.
Q: I'm trying to wire a Sony L410X stereo to my 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500. I don't want to use a wiring harness, so I'm trying to figure out how to splice the wires together. I don't know how to hook the power wires up correctly. Obviously hooking the speakers up will be easy. I've tried looking at the wiring diagram but it seems like on the stereo system diagram it's positive and negative whereas the truck wiring is not identifying the negative wiring, just 12v+ Constant and 12v+ Switching. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!
a wiring harness at you local wal mart is like 20 bucks and a lot easier and also using one of them will make sure you have everything hooked upped correct also all audio car dealers use them so there is nothing wrong
Q: hello,i have lots of 8 gauge wire resting at my closet. And i'm very interested on doing the big 3 upgrade to my 2000 mitsubishi eclipse gt. May i see any improvement with 8 gauge wire?...i know that at least 4 gauge is recommended...but i dont want to spend money.
4 gauge? LOL Go big or go home. 1/0 gauge or it didn't happen.
Q: I'm faced with a dilemma...I'm wiring my basement right now and all is fine, except for my living room. I want to have a 3-way switch setup, but with four light fixtures. I've already ran 3+ground wires in this order...Breaker box - Switch A - Fixture 1 - Fix. 2 - Fix. 3 - Fix. 4 - Switch B. I have done regular 3-way switches in the past, without much trouble, but I have no idea how to wire this, so well-explained instructions would be perfect. Thanks so much!
feels like in case you have sparks popping out of the breaker container you may desire to surrender what you're doing and step returned. A breaker container isn't a place for the susceptible at heart. That container is warm, electric powered clever. you probable have 220 volts coming in the suited of the container to the main which shuts each little thing off. i think of it could be clever to attend till day after today and flow to domicile depot. they have books on easy wiring.
Q: I am replacing an outside floodlight, the cable from the house has 4 wires (black, brown, grey and yellow), but the floodlight has the standard 3 live, neutral and earth fitting. How would I wire the new floodlight.. the wiring for the old floodlight is less than a year old on a house rewire. Thanks!
Four wire power cables used to be used for 2 and 3 phase power. You would normally provide floodlight power with the use of 3 wires. How long is the cable length from house to floodlights? I would look to see what your source wire colors are and try to match those. It used to be in the USA that the red wire was used to carry the 120/240 Volts AC (50 ~ 60~ Herz). The Black wire was considered the return or negative line; and if you have a green wire it is used to put an earth ground on all the shielding, metal jackets, etc.
Q: What's the thickness, or measurement for the last or thickest wire?
they change your wire according to how much your teeth have shifted around, so it just depends. the ortho needs to adjust the size of the wire due to your teeth straightening out and making sure the wire(s) are at a correct length. its really not that thick of a wire, so don't worry about it. :D
Q: have black (hot) and 2 whites from the house. Got Black,green.blue.and white from the fan. Any clues on how to wire this? There is a light switch involved. I know to match the colors but what do with the blue (light) wire is beyond me.
The blue wire is the supply connection for the fan motor, simply connect this wire to your homes black wire. ( blue and black from fan) to the black wire in the box. Splice the two neutral ( white ) wires together. If you plan on using a dimmer switch use one with motor control. Green is your ground connect it to the bare copper wire in the box or screw Its a good thing you picked up on that white wire at first glance I was thinking the fan had 2 whites, .. You will have two switches if one of the white wires in your box is a switch leg, if there is two switches, make sure you separate the wires in the ceiling box, place a marrett on each individual one for safely, turn the switches on remove one marrett a time test with a multimeter white to ground to identify you hot and neutral
Q: what if I use a 100 amps.main braker to wire my range and dryer
I'm not sure if you are asking if you can hook them both to a 100 amp breaker, or you want to wire them from a 100 amp sub-panel? A standard electric dryer is 30 amps and requires a 30 amp branch circuit using 10 gauge copper wire (10-3 with ground), and a standard electric range is 40 amps and requires a 40 amp branch circuit using 8 gauge copper wire (8-3 with ground). You need to hook them each to their own individual breaker.
Q: Just need a wiring diagram link that shows all wires and possibly steps on installing an aftermarket stereo.
300zx Wiring Diagram
Q: I know there must be a difference, and reason why some wires have a solid strand behind the rubber, or some have several strands. can someone explain to me how it works and the differences in wire. m trying to get my head into electricity. resources would be good too.
it just depends on your application, take for example your house has either solid 12 gauge or 14 gauge copper wire. solid copper has less resistance and can handle more amperage compared to say a stranded 12 or 14 gauge wire. you wouldnt wire your vehicle with solid wire would you? i mean theres no point, you dont need the amperage and the resistance of the wire is negligent here due to that fact there is not any long distances in your vehicle, plus it would be a pain to wire a vehicle with solid copper wire. in AC voltage they sometimes use square rectangular wire due to the fact that ac voltage travels on the outside of wire, rather than threw the entire middle, so a square wire offers more surface area.
