Q:My parents talked to this guy from Express Home Solutions that's based in Garden City, NY about help with modifying their home loan and such. They wanted me to research the company to make sure it wasn't any kind of scam set up before they did anything with them, but I can't find much. There seems to be another company with the same name out of Texas, but I don't know if they're the same people. Has anyone dealt with this company or heard anything about them? Any help would be great! Thanks.

I don't know anything about this company but when I Googled the name, the first site that comes up is Rip off report so I'd be leary. There are many scam companies out there right now who will take the money up front not do much for it. Your parents don't need to hire anyone to help modify their mortgage. It can be time-consuming because so many people are looking for modifications that the lenders are overwhelmed. Q:I had someone repair my car at his home in Garden Grove, CA, he said he has applied for licensing and this is his quot;shopquot;. HE TOTALLY ripped me off with the repairs, they weren't done properly argued constantly w/ his mechanic. They were supposed to finish the job (I took my car home after 6 days of this bs with the generator light on just to get it out of there) he told me to order the parts to finish it, I did, Sat. I get a call later in the day on my cell that he and his mechanic are fighting that mechanic won't be doing it at all. Next day I get a call and he tells me that he doesn't owe me any thing and will only fix 1 item, he did not give me a written estimate before hand and wanted me to sign in 2 places an invoice that also stated he gave me an estimate, of course this is all after I paid him (just to get the car away from him). I refused now I know he is endangering a disabled person by doing a conversion on his car, this man mechanics are maniacs. HELP!

you,ll have to check the zoning laws in your area ,chances are it may be legal for him to do this,not all mechanics are bad though, there are a lot of good ones also,just a few that are like this,good luck.

Absolutely not. There may be a very few buyers who would find it appealing, most would just rip it out. Either way it would have no effect on the market value of the house. Do what makes YOU happy, since you intend to be there for several more years.

Yes, it is possible. In fact, there was a case a few years back where Monsanto was taking some farmers to court because their neighbors were growing GMO soy beans and Monsanto thought the others' soybeans may have been cross with their GMO soy beans. Since the farmers Monsanto took to court were saving seeds from their crop Monsanto claimed they were benefiting from their GMO work without paying for the benefit. In essence, the companies making GMO seeds can claim you owe them for using their product even if you did not know your crop had been crossed with their modified plants' pollen if you saved seeds to plant the following year. There are also some organic growers suing Monsanto for contaminating their organic and heirloom crops with GMO pollen as this would change their foods and seeds status, possibly (probably) making them unusable for their intended purpose. Personally, I hope they win and Monsanto has to pay such a large award they have to abandon their GMO projects entirely. Google 'Monsanto sues farmers' and read about the Canadian farmer they sued and the end result of the suit; it is very interesting. Good luck and enjoy!

I would firstly recommend a live trap, as I believe the killing of wild rodents is inhumane. These can be found at farm supply stores and some pet stores, and also rented sometimes from your local SPCA or animal shelter. If you are intent on killing it, use an edible rat poison and do not allow your other animals or children to handle or eat it. Rat poison works very well on rats since they cannot vomit. The only problem is they usually crawl back to their holes to die so it may die in your walls or another place you wouldn't like. Try removing any food that the rat can get into so he has no choice but to eat the poison, or leave to find food elsewhere. Please do not use glue traps or mousetraps, as they are very inhumane and often do not actually kill the rat, just make it suffer until it starves to death.
