- Here is the recipe from my B H G Cookbook that I got in 7th grade cooking class. That would have been about 1950. I hope this is the recipe you are looking for. It sounds delicious. STUFFED ZUCCHINI SQUASH - BETTER HOMES GARDENS 6 medium zucchini 3 cups soft bread crumbs 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese 1 small onion, minced 3 tablespoons minced parsley 1 teaspoon salt Dash pepper 2 beaten eggs 2 tablespoons butter or margarine Wash zucchini, cut off ends; don't peel. Cook in boiling salted water for 5 minutes. Halve them lengthwise, remove pulp with spoon. Combine pulp with bread crumbs, cheese, onion, parsley, salt, pepper and eggs. Fill zucchini shells. Dot with butter; sprinkle with more cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Makes 6 servings.

- Q: I'm getting married soon and I really don't know a whole lot about cooking. I did find a Better Homes and Gardens Red Checked Newlywed Edition cookbook. Thankfully it has no red checks! It looked good, with information on setting up your first kitchen and color pics explaining different utensils, but I was wondering if the recipes were any good. Has anyone recently bought/ received/ used this or similar cookbooks? It's $30 so I would really like to know before I spent that much $. Please and thank you!
- I have used my Better Homes cookbook so much that the pages are falling out, and covered in all sorts of spatters from ingredients. I like it better than my Joy of Cooking for simple things. It gives you a good base to work from, and you can expand on most of the recipes to suit your own taste. I use The Joy of Cooking for reference (great info in the back) and when I want to try something more unusual. When I left my parents' house, I could bake up a storm but didn't even know how to make a casserole! Now, my friends love it when I decide to throw a dinner party!
- Q: any advice?what do i need?i've never done this before.....
- You'll need: space: whether you just dig a square, or use containers, you'll need a good amount of space. 6-8 hours of direct sun for most vegetables and flowers. soil: good soil is needed: compost, etc. water: to get started, you will need to water the plants until established. Tools: a good, sharp shovel, a hoe, some hand held implements to put in the plants Plants: for your first time, I'd go with things from a discount garden center like Lowes or Home depot. Buy a few things and put them in the ground, have fun dude! Experiment. But, you can't go wrong with good soil, water, and sunshine.
