Q:What is best to plant in a home garden? Keep in mind it is not huge and we would like to plant things that will take up the least amount of space but yield a nice harvest. So I guess I could ask, what plants give you the most bang for you buck? What are your thoughts?
Tomatoes and zucchini are the most prolific by far. It's a little too late for radishes (they get too hot), spinach and lettuce (they'll blite), but they're pretty cheap at the store anyway. Peppers will give you a lot, too, and only take about a foot or two of space, while tomatoes take 2-3 feet and zucchini take about 3. Carrots will give you a lot of seeds per packages, and you thin them to about 2 apart. The same is true for beets, onion sets, and Swiss chard, but the problem with these is that once you've used that one, it doesn't reproduce, while with tomatoes, zucchini and peppers the one plant will keep producing all summer long.
Q:My mom used to make banana pudding I've lost the recipe..I know it's milk, eggs, sugar vanilla, but that's all.thanksx
Ingredients 1/3 cup all-purpose flour Dash of salt 2 1/2 cups 1% low-fat milk 1 (14-ounce) can fat-free sweetened condensed milk 2 large egg yolks 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 3 cups sliced ripe banana, divided 45 reduced-fat vanilla wafers, divided 4 large egg whites (at room temperature) 1/4 cup sugar Preparation Preheat oven to 325°. Combine flour and salt in a medium saucepan. Gradually add milks and yolks; stir well. Cook over medium heat 8 minutes or until thick, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. Arrange 1 cup banana slices in bottom of a 2-quart baking dish. Spoon one-third of pudding mixture over banana. Arrange 15 wafers on top of pudding. Repeat layers twice, arranging the last 15 wafers around edge of dish. Push cookies into pudding. Beat egg whites at high speed of a mixer until foamy. Gradually add sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, beating until stiff peaks form. Spread meringue evenly over pudding, sealing to edge of dish. Bake at 325° for 25 minutes or until golden. Note: Banana Pudding may be a bit soupy when you first remove it from the oven. Let cool at least 30 minutes before serving.
Q:I asked this in home gardening, but I think this is where it should be asked. I need a quick fix on how to ground outlets so as i can hook up my satalite receiver computers. Cant afford an electrician to rewire a rental, the landlord is no help.
There is no easy way to ground an ungrounded receptacle. That involves running new wires from the electric panel to the receptacle. That is the only way it can be done. You can replace a 2 prong receptacle with a GFCI receptacle, or buy an adapter, but you still will not have a ground. You will just have a 3 prong receptacle to plug into.
Q:This is my first gardening experience. The tomatoes turned out nicely. But now what do I do? If I leave the plants, will they grow more tomatoes again?
whilst they're purple, yet no longer uninteresting darkish purple. purple, enterprise or each so somewhat giving. they'll ripen indoors. So those picked on the giving somewhat degree could have a tendency to get overripe without postpone. i could purchase underripe tomatoes on the save, so why difficulty to p.c.. them early? test with the varieties you planted. you will discover some do greater advantageous picked on the giving somewhat degree, others do no longer seem to enhance whilst they shade as much as vivid purple. i think you will basically could sacrifice your style buds to establish what you like superb. complicated job. in case you're turning out to be salad tomatoes......the tiny adult men.....they consistently style the excellent eaten interior the backyard, nevertheless heat by making use of the solar........yum! the bigger ones do too, even nevertheless that's greater messy.
Q:I'm looking for the buckeye candy recipe from he Better Homes Gardens Christmas Cookie publication from 1998. They had a 50-State salute that year, and the buckeye was the recipe for Ohio. If anyone has this, please please post it for me.
Candy Ingredients: 1 stick softened butter 1 3/4 c. (1 18 oz. jar) creamy peanut butter 1 tsp. vanilla About 1 lb. confectioners' sugar Chocolate Coating Ingredients: 1 (12 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips 1 tbsp. vegetable shortening Directions: Cream butter, peanut butter, and vanilla together, adding confectioners' sugar until the right consistency is reached. Roll candy into 1-inch balls and place on a wax paper-lined cookie sheet. Melt chips and shortening together in the top of double boiler, and keep the chocolate mixture in the double boiler over low heat while dipping the candy. Using toothpicks, dip each ball into the chocolate mixture, covering 3/4 of candy. Place candy on the cookie sheet to cool. Makes about 8 dozen pieces.
Q:i have a water garden that has running water like a river and there's moss??? how did the moss get there?
Moss will grown anywhere that is damp/wet and shady.
Q:As a college student, the daily trips to Starbucks are breaking my bank. I would like to purchase an espresso machine for myself. I would prefer to spend under $100. I know that this won't allow me to get the best quality, but it's the most I am able to spend. I really only need to be able to steam the milk and produce 1-2 shots of espresso at a time. If anyone has an espresso machine that they love/hate, I would greatly appreciate any recommendations or advice. Thank you.
There are two recommendations I'd like to contribute: - Senseo is a great product. We love ours and the coffee tastes great. You can also make great tea. We love the Starbucks Chai tea that comes in the little pods. And the Cappuccino pods taste great as well. - A real italian espresso maker for under $30: Bialetti Moka Express Stovetop Espresso Makers. They work great, they are real, and authentic. We bought ours in Italy and used them for years.
Q:I have looked at Lowes, Home Depot, Garden stores and I still can't find replacements seat and canaopy cushions for my outdoor garden swing do they even sell replacements?
Yes, I live in the midwest I see them all the time at Walmart, Lowe's, Target. You might look online have them shipped to you.
Q:My son found a stranded crab in the edge of a river. He brought it home and put it in the garden somewhere. The garden has a mango and an orange tree. It also has varied types of nature and flowers. I have seen it oftentimes trying to get into the house. Is it dangerous to have it there?
If you and your son have crabs I seriously don't think you should be looking after him. I don't want to here about your garden with the mango and oranges either. Disgusting
Q:we tried ours today at grandparents house.. they have the hgtv... and nothing worked... (works fine at home) any ideas?
HG? As in Mercury? Or Home Gardens? Or do you mean HDTV? If the TV has a yellow RCA jack on the back (for composite video cables), you use the cable that came with for a standard-definition (480i) signal. The Wii is capable of enhanced-definition, progressive scan video (480p), and that requires a component video cable (where the video signal is split over 3 RCA cables - usually colored red, blue, and green). Most HDTVs have component video jacks on the back. Usually you have select what input jack you want to use on the TV.
