- Q:How do I clean the grout on my tiled floor. It has become quite discoloured over the last two years, especially in the kitchen. I live in a company apartment and it is very important that it is kept sparkling clean. There are very pale, large, limestone tiles throughout with matching grout. Thank you.

- Laying tile isn't hard,go to Lowe's or home depot and get a tile saw,it doesn't have to be a high dollar one,they have Rhino board for the places that have to be stable and moisture proof,and get the trawl for it,it doesn't take a lot of the glue,you'll see the teeth on the side of the trawl,put some on the wall or floor,run the trawl(teeth side towards the surface,leave lines of glue about 3/16 s thick,that's enough to hold it,if it big tile squares make it a little thicker,they also have some spacers for putting between the tile,keeps it straight as well,then let it harden up and grout it,have several 5 gallon buckets of Fresh water(replenish the water when dirty) and a good sponge for wiping it down shortly after grouting.
- Q:The tile grout on my bathroom floor is white in some parts, but dark where husband stands next to the sink/toilet... How can I clean it without having to re-grout it? Can I just spray bleach on or will that ruin the tile?
- Bleach shouldn't ruin the tile but then again I don't know what kind of tile you have. There are grout cleaners at Home Depot or Lowes that should do the trick for you. Sometimes getting a professional to come in and polish the floor is a good idea depending on how much work is involved.
- Q:I accidently kicked in one of the tiles near the knobs on the bottom front of the shower. the tile is caved in and loose so i took it out and noticed the blue board behind it. There is a blue board and 6 tiles on the board. the blue board is easily pushed back and has little support. the 6 tiles are loose too and if i press the tile, it will go back a little. I think the blue board provided little support for the tiles and the tile cave in would of happened eventually anyway. either that or it was completely my fault because i caved in one of the tiles which made all of the other tiles loose?? I think the blueboard had little support and it wasn‘t completely my fault. should i fight my landlord on this?i just met with her and sat through a lecture with her accusing me of everything, from having parties trashing the apartment to the slightly black grout near the tub so im kind of worked up over this.
- The tile is installed incorrectly. Water has soaked the blue board and it was a matter of time before theu fell off on their own. Tile should never be installed this way and especially in a well used shower where a lot of use will make it go bad faster. Nothing less than a cement backer board should have been used. - Easy, put down the peel stick tiles. Pull up your carpet and vaccum the floor, peel and stick. . I would seal the sub floor with Bins or a urethane or shellac to prevent the piss smell from getting in the floor and if it already has happened this will keep the smell concealed somewhat but on those hot humid days the smell of urine will be there. - This is a great homemade tile and grout cleaner that is safe for frequent use. It also works well for removing soap scum and cleaning tile counters. 1/2 cup of baking soda 1/3 cup of ammonia 1/4 cup of white vinegar 7 cups of water subtract Combine all the ingredients in a spray bottle and shake well to mix. Do not use this in conjunction with chlorine bleach or where chlorine bleach has been used. (Never mix ammonia and bleach containing products.) Simply spray it on and then wipe with a damp sponge or cloth. No rinsing required.

- Depending on your budget I would consider having them professionally refinished. They can do a great job and even change the color. But, if you want to tear them out you will have to install new backerboard(like concreate, called hardiboard). It can be very tedious and time consuming, you'll also need to rent a wet saw to cut the tiles. It will also be very messy and your bathroom will be out of comission for a few sayd if you are doing the work yourself, so I hope you have 2.

- Put a piece of masking tape over the area to be drilled. Drill hole where desired with a masonry drill bit. Don't worry this is a simple operation. Just go slow with the drilling and the tape should keep the tile from cracking.
