Q:About 7 years ago I had new tile put in all around my bathtub. I knew I would not like cleaning this tile grout. It is way too much work now that I am a senior lady. I would love to replace this tile with something that has no grout needed. Other than Formica (Laminate) can anyone think of another product I can have installed without grout lines? Q:I am looking for some shiny gold 1 in tiles i need about 50-60 can anybody help me out. Asbestos is only harmful when inhaled into the lungs, so just leave it alone. I have never heard of having to abate asbestos when selling a house - if it was, housing resale in this country would grind to a halt and the asbestos abatement business would not be able to keep up. Just about any house that was built before 1970 has it.

Q:Can you lay down those adhesive floor tiles on top of existing tiles? If so, what kind of prep do you need to do to make sure they stick properly. I‘m not sure what type of tiles are in place now, but they are similiar to the types used in schools and other institutions. Very cheap, flexible, and bland. I want to lay something down in place of them, but don‘t want to rip them up. Is that possible? Thanks!: Clean the existing tiles with TSP and then rough them up so that the new tiles have something to adhere to and you don't get lift. You can sand them lightly then use a tack cloth to remove the dust or they sell chemicals at the home improvement store that de-gloss and prep the surface to take on the adhesive of the new tile. You can only do this once and if you decide to change the tile again you have to remove all of the existing layers.

Q:I‘m going to be putting in a tile floor in my kitchen (all cabinets and appliances removed). I have done my research and have a good idea of what I will be doing - beef up the subfloor with plywood and lots of screws for rigidity; use cement based self leveler to correct a mild slope; install backerboard or decoupling membrane (not sure which yet) followed by the tile.I have a plan, but plans tend to fall apart after their first run-in with reality. If tou have hard water you will get calcium buids up on porcelan.One way is Muratic acid (pool acid) deluted 10 to 1 The safe way is a pumas stone scrubber you can buy at any pool store. The vinigar will work but not as well. Lime away is also a good cleaner if you have hard water. If your installer didnt seal your grout do this first , the tile supplier can supply this. B^

I would also like to continue this to the hallway and under stairs. Thanks.: I have never tiled a floor but i have done a backsplash and it should be about the same. It was not very difficult and kinda fun. You will need something to cut tile with or you will waste a lot of tile.I have found that you can find how to do anything by doing a search on the internet--this is what I suggest you do. Now just my opinion--I would not want a tile floor in my kitchen because they are hard on your legs and back if you stand on them a lot and any thing breakable dropped on them will not stand a chance also they will crack if heavy object is dropped. There are many alternatives to tile, laminate that looks like tile or wood would be a good choice or hardwood.

Q:I‘m curious...How are Terra Cotta roof tiles secured to the roof?? It seems that if they were nailed down, the installer would risk the chance of cracking, or shattering the tile..Is there some type of nail set that prohibits driving the fastener too far into the pieces? Obviously, they just don‘t lie there...: here in the uk we dont use shingles ..not man enough to last ..so we have clay . ncrete ..and terra cotta roof tiles ...no point in putting on a roof covering unless it gonna last at least 100 years ..out roof tiles have hooks at top that sit behind the tile lathe ...most tiles are not actually nailed ..most are every 3 or 5 rows ..i have worked on dozens of roofs where not one was nailed ..the roof angles and tile weight prevent them from moving ..we fix with either galvanised or copper nails
