- Q: I‘ve had a 2inch Sports Exhaust System put in my car about 4 - 5months ago and when my car is cold it seems to make a crackling noise as 1st i thought because it was new and had to wear in but it still makes it, is this all meant to be normal?Also there are days where it will sound nice and a deep sound, an then there is other days where i can hardly hear itI was told as well that you can get twin exhaust systems put in, my brother had told me about this Are you able to do this on any car?
- If we knew the year make and model of your car possibly someone bakes a true dual exhaust system. The noise you're hearing is common when you shut the motor off and the exhaust system is cooling down. It's an expansion and contraction thing going on inside the exhaust pipes and what ever type of muffler you have.
- Q: hi i have an acura rsx type-s and i recently bought an apexi world sport 2 exhaust from e-bay. i was wondering if installing this by myself would be easy. i have no mechanical background, but i read the instructions and seems pretty easy to me, also the exhaust does not come with gaskets so is that easy to get and where to get it. thanks very much!!
- You should get your gaskets from the exhaust supplier. If the instructions look easy then go for it. If you don't have a ramp to get over head high then don't bother because you will struggle.
- Q: My 2000 Volkswagen Passat has all kinds of nasty exhaust sounds, rust, and check engine lights going on. I was looking into replacing the left *half* that seems to be causing the trouble and I can get the pipes WITH catalytic converter that will just bolt into the muffler for like $320. My question is, would it be cheaper for me to just buy the cat. for $100 and have a local shop custom weld the rest? Or are custom muffler jobs pretty expensive?Thanks!P.S. if this is an ignorant question I apologize, I really don‘t know anything about exhaust systems.

- if you want flowmaster than go for flowmaster dual catback exaust.or even magnaflow dual catbackborla also has a dual catback which is greati have borla dual catback on my 04 ranger and the performance is GREAT.but the borla system cost me 650 dollars installedif you are worried about cost then go with maganaflow dual catbackit's cheap and you get the same results as you would with borla and flowmaster.

- it won't make you fail, as long as you don't remove the catalytic converter or O2 sensors. smog laws don't tell you you can't modify the exhaust system downstream of the catalyst. these mufflers usually do give you a small gain in fuel mileage, however if you keep punching the gas pedal to hear the sound you won't see any gain. face it, 454's eat a lot of gas

- I don't think so. But now the Mass Air Flow meter must be cleaned. That's probably why it shakes and stalls. Tell your mechanic to clean it. Make sure he knows to use special cleaner, not carburetor cleaner. It got dirty when the car was breathing dirty air. (New air filter too, if it's not very new.) You don't say what Mazda you have but a lot of them have a MAF meter.
