- Q: About 7 years ago I had new tile put in all around my bathtub. I knew I would not like cleaning this tile grout. It is way too much work now that I am a senior lady. I would love to replace this tile with something that has no grout needed. Other than Formica (Laminate) can anyone think of another product I can have installed without grout lines? Thank you for your suggestions.

- 108x61 is same as 9ftx 5ft (close enough!) So--4 in. tiles would be 12 per sq ft--9x5 =45 x12 =540 tiles. Plus 54 for breakage. You should always add 10% for breakage. Unless tiles are very strong and can`t break easily when cutting to fit! But at least 10% gives you extra for future repair or mistakes when installing.
- Q: The tiles are textured and it seems that the high spots are wearing and can not be cleaned. Is this caused by inexpensive tiles?Texturing? Will I have to replace the floor? What product should I use? Any information will be appreacated.
- Sounds like whoever installed the tile did not use floor tile, they are the same color top to bottom, throughout. The tile you now have sounds like wall tile and only has the coloration on the top of the tile. You have two possible solutions to this problem. Replace the tile, or a cheaper fix that will not be permanent, is to finish the floor with semigloss polyurethane which will also wear out. High gloss will be very slick when wet, but depending on the sheen of the current tile you may decide to use that instead. The polyurethane will slightly change the color of your floor, and should be considered when you make your decision.
- Q: i used the baskup board, the adhesive, then put the adhesive on each tile.
- i am more familiar with tiles falling off the wall. but yours are glued on so good they wont fall. The wall must be warping from water or steam and heat and the tiles wont bend with it so they crack.

- Professional here, are you talking about Slate tiles, Spanish tiles, or shingles ?? Flashing around vents requires a pointing trowel with the end tip broken off, makes it easier to apply around flashing, I would use Karnak brand myself, have used it 20 yrs commercially. You would require skill to get this right even if you try. Replacing any so called Tiles also requires experience, if you never walked a roof, you could kill yourself. If your in the NYC area. email me, I'll either tell you how to do this yourself or do it for you for a charge.

- you can do either if you paint you need to prime it 1st and use 100% acrylic paint
- Q: We have an installer, whom seems to be doing it wrong. I can‘t find any website that explains how to install tile the way he is doing it. Can you tell me if this sounds correct?First he puts mortar on the bare cement floor, then put down versa-bond or a bonding agent.. and then he puts more mortar on the tile and then lays it down.. - The last floor I did has been with spacers. The tiles were very uniform and spacers make it go very quickly. Once in a while I need to remove one or two spacers to let an irregular tile fit in without making my lines bulge. I have seen every-day tile guys do it with and without, sometimes with great results and sometimes the opposite.
- Q: I‘m trying to re-tile two small bathrooms. One is ~20 sf. The other is ~35 sf. I already have the tile, don‘t want any special designs, and have normal rectangular shaped bathrooms with a toilet on one wall (i.e. very few weird cuts). There is already tile on the floors that will have to be taken up. How much should I expect to pay to get someone to install it?
- I don't know where your from and prices varies Tilers charge per square yard. find out with your measurements what the square yard is. be it.. 20 , 25 i don't know. then ring a tiler and ask him how much they charge per square yard. multiply their answer with your answer. that's your price. in Ireland it's 15 per s yard so...... (10 sy X 15 = 150) remember when measuring that you subtract the windows and doors as tilers should not include this in price. also count your bags of adhesive as tilers steal the left over stuff thats not needed. I know this because I am one.

- Having recently removed a s***load of tile during a kitchen remodel, I wish you luck in saving a whole lot of them! Carefully slide a prybar under the edge of the tile---wiggle til it loosens then use the prybar as a lever to remove the tile. It worked for me. Surprisingly many remained whole without chips or cracks, and I wasn't trying to save them. Just didn't want the huge mess involved in the sledgehammer method. LOL
