Thanks!: A very simple and old design for a water pump is called the ball-chain or bucket-chain pump. A google search should show you what they are. Building one should be fairly straightforward and simple.

If it's leaking from the water pump drive, yes, you need to replace it. If its running hotter than normal, it could be a number of things, but still could lead back to the waterpump.

Q:Our water pump had a leak in one of the pipes which kept making us Los the prime. I've replace the piping so it no longer leaking but I can't get I to work. The pump runs but the water doesn't move-. The pressure says it is at 50 but nothing. Also its a sahllow well pump jut bought last sprig.Any ideas? Sorry for the bad grammar new to this tablet.: The pressure says it is at 50 which means there is water at that point or you have a faulty gage(happens all the time with those gages). Replace the gage and then you can determine if the pump is pumping and if there is a clog after that point in your line, which is actually quite common when one works on these systems., if it isn't pumping, could be a bad foot valve, pump, well ran dry, needs to be primed, ect...

Q:Water pump for 98 Venture?: To replace the water pump on the 3.4L Venture calls for 1.3 hours labor (about $130) and the pump is about $30 and it is a good idea to replace the thermostat and flush the cooling system to get maximum life out of the pump and your cooling system about $100 so you would be looking at about $350

Q:Can I put in fluid and drive to the Service Station or should I have it towed? The fluid flows out as fast as I put it in. Thanks!: Have it towed, the $60 towing bill is lot less than a new engine, the 1st thing that will happen is one of the heads will crack, next water will mix in with the oil, next engine stops from overheated. Don't have the car pushed, the newer transmissions won't allow this. Ask if who's doing the repairs can tow it free if they fix it, or cut the cost.

Q:when i drove my truck after about 15 minutes i was parked and let my truck idle afetr about a minute of idling my truck stalled and when i turned it back of it was squeeking and made some noises for about ten seconds and then stopped. I noticed that the pully on my fan coming from the water pump was wobbling. my tempuratue was still normal what could cause this i am suspecting taht the bearings in my water pump went?: you are likely right, usually the pump will leak a bit of water by this point, i did mine in my van and can be difficult cause you must seperate the fan. do not let this problem continue cause u will be broke down. replace the thermostat, bypass hose and check clutch and all hoses that are getting weak, and if possible do a power flush of the system..

Q:I Have a 1982 Suzuki DT8 Outboard motor, i rebuilt the water pup, new impeller, wear plate, all that. This is the first time iv run it in a barrel, it wont pump water now. But here is the thing, when i take the inspection cover off(the little round cover that lets you acces the shift linkage), and i run the motor, it will pump water. i noticed that wile i have that cover off all the exhaust comes out that hole and not out the bottom, is the exhaust getting sucked in the pump and stopping it from circulating water?: Suzuki Dt8 Outboard
