Q:Solar Panel Wiring in SERIES?
Wiring the panels in series should be ok as long as they are exactly the same. Different impedance's could damage the panels. Remember that Voltages and Amperage's are indirectly proportional meaning that if you series your panels your voltage will rise but the amperage will be reduced.
Q:How long does it take to charge a 2v deep cycle battery with a 0 watt solar panel?
a 0w solar panel means at peak efficiency ( high noon, panel pointed flat at the sun, hitting it at 90 degrees), you will get 0 watts (at any given second). Watts = volts x amps a 2volt battery needs an incoming current of at least 3 volts to charge it; 3.5 volts is better. so if the output VOLTAGE of the panel is less than 3 volts it wont do anything. Even if it is, 0 / 3.5 = .74 amp.( three quarters). It will take forever and a day to charge a deeply discharged deep cycle battery.......... consider that a small 0v battery charger is putting out 3-5 amps ( or 3 x 0 =330 Watts) and the alternator on a car is putting out 20 to 50 amps at 4 volts ( 280 to 730 Watts).
Q:Why are solar panels made from silicon and not magnesium?
Si is a neutral semiconductor, and, when combined with the other metals in the solar panel, it the panel polarizes, and releases electrons form one end, and accepts them back at the other. Like a water pump. Mg is not the major ingredient because it doesn't have the easily altered semiconductor properties Si does. To put it simply, Si is easier to work with.
Q:What would be a good battery for this solar panel?
How many batteries you will need depends on what you are planning to do with them which you did not mention? Sunforce makes a 30 amp charge controller part no. 60033
Q:Computation of Solar panel requirement?
The power output of a solar panel uses a formula to determine kilowatts produced per hour per square meter per day. This calculation is important because, if you plan to install a solar power system for your home, you will want to know how many solar panels will be needed. To calculate solar power requirements correctly, you need to gather the data that is needed for the calculation. First you have to find the average amount of solar radiation available for your area. You can use a solar radiation chart. This can range from a 4 to a 7 depending on the area you live in. Write the number down on a piece of paper and indicate it with the letters RA. Next is determine the amount of electricity that you use daily. Add the kilowatt-hours used per month from your utility bill. Multiply this number by ,000 to get the watt hours in a month. Divide the total by 30 for the amount of electricity you use daily. Write this number down and indicate it with the letters DE. Determine the percentage of your home that you want to power with the solar power system. Write this number down and indicate it with the letter P. Determine the system inefficiency factor for the solar power system. You should be able to find this on the brochure for the system or from the manufacturer's web site. Write this number down and indicate it by the letter I. Determine the power or yield that is required for your home. Use the equation P = I x (DE x P) / RA to find the power requirements in kWh. Divide the number from Step 5 by the peak wattage for a single solar panel to determine the number of panels you will need for your home. Goodluck! :)
Q:Do solar panels float?
I'd presume they do. They seem flat enough to generate enough surface tension to function as a raft. Not sure if their weight would cause them to sink should the raft capsize though. For what it's worth, there are floating solar panels that are being tested for water-based solar energy plants. The cost per panel is the same as standard solar.
Q:0000 watt Solar Panels?
About 2500 Sq. Yd.s
Q:Solar Panel Watts?? help!?
Ok, seeing your icon is a female, I'll take a chance and offer a possible conversion factor. In diets, you count calories. When you exercise, you burn calories per minute or hour. In one exercise session you burn a total number of calories. And remember, 000 calories = kilo-calorie = food calorie. Same with solar panels and electrical power (same stuff, different units). Solar panels come in many watts sizes, like different foods and portions have different calories produced. When these panels are exposed to sunlight, they will generate this amount of watts for as long as you expose them (the units are kilo-Watt-hours), basically, like burning calories on a bike for an hour burns a total of x calories for that hour. If you have a 2-hour day, then a 00 watt panel will generate a possible total of 2 hours x 00 watts = 200 watt-hours = .2 kilowatt-hours. Just like calories burned during regular exercise varies over the year and your mood, the solar panels will generate varying level of power (watts) depending on the weather. And just like you burn calories at different rates by age and lifestyle, an average house power use is dependent on geographic location, size of house, number of occupants, etc. No real typical profile. I would recommend you get some personalized help in sorting out your power needs, A contractor/installer can give you a quote/estimate or general class of use. A second or third quote would keep you first estimate honest. Good luck!
Q:Has anyone had roof problems caused by rooftop solar panels?
Rooftop solar panels might cause all sorts of maintenance or poor installation problems but I rather doubt at this point if we can say that there is an issue with solar panels in general that will cause a problem with the roof. Rather solar panels tend to shade a roof on its most exposed side. Without solar panels southern facing roofs will wear out faster than northern facing roofs. Installed solar panels will tend to make the roof last longer.
Q:How would you connect a solar panel to a fan?
Wire is always good. You may need some electronics to convert the voltage put out by the solar panel to what is required by the fan. Some batteries might be nice so that the fan will run when the sun is not shining.
