Q: How much space do solar panels require?
The amount of space required for solar panels can vary depending on factors such as the type and size of the panels, their efficiency, and the energy needs of the system. On average, an average-sized residential solar panel system typically requires around 100-400 square feet of roof space. However, ground-mounted systems can require larger areas, and more efficient panels can generate the same amount of electricity in a smaller space.
Q: Can solar panels be installed on concert venues or music festivals?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on concert venues or music festivals. In fact, many event organizers are increasingly adopting solar energy to power their events, reducing their carbon footprint and promoting sustainability. Solar panels can be installed on rooftops, parking lots, or even as temporary structures to generate clean and renewable energy for the venue's electricity needs.
Q: Any feedback on solar panels?
They work. If you have realistic expectations of them, understand their limitations and have a good knowkedge of electronics, you will be glad you have them, and you will also likely want to add more as you can afford them. If you need someone else to install them and you know little to nothing about electronics, your installation cost will be much higher. However they are not always a total solution, and for those wanting to continue using energy the way they do when attached to the grid they will be disappointed. You do need to make some changes to how you use energy. Get them for the right reasons, and at some point you can unplug your house from the gtid. Grid tir is fine for some, but highly overrated by those who wish to social engineer society to have things both ways- tied to the grid to produce power while letting the power company do it's thing to your appliances,
Q: I have 2 20 watt Solar panel. I have it hooked up to solar controller and batteries to inverter. Am trying to figure out how much watts am getting. I found the voltage but how do I find the amp reading on a mutimeter?
While you can measure voltage on a like without a load, the measure of amperage is more closely related to the amount of power that is being drawn. The amperage is measured with the meter in series (not parallel like voltage) with the load. What it ends up measuring is the load that is being drawn from the solar panel and not the potential of the panel.
Q: hi, i got a pond and i am planning of putting some lights on it during night time. but i want to use solar panels and i have done a bit of research about solar panels and i know how they work, i know that the common voltage to use is 2v so you can use car batteries or deep cycle batteries, but my question is:. what wattage of bulb can you recommend2. how long it would take to drain my battery (can i have it overnight)3. and what wattage of solar panel should i get enough to recharge my battery the next day.hope anyone can help..thanks
select 2V, and it will tell you how big of a battery bank and how big of a solar panel you need. For my example, I need a 7ah 2V battery and a 20watt panel.
Q: I know there's different brands of solar panels and they cost different amounts. But if anyone know the average price of one solar panel could you help me out? Also could you please list the size of the solar panel.
Hard to answer, it really varies. A rooftop electric panel will typically be about 200 watts or so, and an installation would have many of them. Here's an example: Suntech STP 200 These Modules Provide: 200 Watts VOC 33.40V VMP 26.20V ISC 8.2amp IMP 7.63amp Width Height Deep 39 58 3/8 3/8 $488.00
Q: Was looking at 0w solar panel kit. Does this mean, all I can use is something like a 0W CFL light bulb and nothing else?
No. The way to set it up is to store the power generated by the solar panel in a battery, then use the battery to power your lights, radio, etc, when you need the power. A standard deep-cycle marine battery is typical for panels of this size (WalMart for approx $90). A 0W panel will generate between 30 50 Watt-Hours of power over the course of a day (May-Aug weather-dependent), so this would equate to running a laptop for -2 hours, or a 0W CFL light for 3-5 hours, or a 20W stereo for .5-3 hours, etc. I find it is much easier to speak in terms of watts. Divide the watt-hours by the watts of the appliance to get the number of hours it can run. Hope that helps!
Q: Can solar panels be installed on the ground instead of a roof?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on the ground instead of a roof. Ground-mounted solar panels are a viable alternative when roof space is limited or unsuitable for installation. Ground installations offer flexibility in panel orientation and tilt, making it easier to maximize solar energy production. Additionally, ground-mounted systems are often easier to maintain and can be expanded more easily than roof-mounted ones.
Q: I own a townhome in the Phoenix area (my power company's SRP, if that makes a difference). Phoenix is a great place for solar. I could probably save money, in the long term, if I got some solar panels. But I am currently extremely broke, so I can't buy solar panels unless I will more or less immediately be paying no more than I am now per month, with little or nothing down. And most of the solar leasing places won't work with me, because (as is common for townhomes) I don't technically own my roof. I have permission to put things on it, but the property management people (or whoever actually owns my roof) won't sign the lease or whatever.Anyone know of either a way to buy solar panels without paying significantly more per month than I already do for electricity, or a solar leasing company that can work with the restrictions I have?
Nope; I see no escape. Best advice I can give is this: sell out and move to a single home residence that has no HOA. If you want solar, I believe the main roofline should run east-west, so that the south exposure of the roof can be easily and economically populated with panels. APS is better than SRP wrt solar ....maybe. Im not sure, everythiong around here is APS so there's no balance. Ive occasionally heard rumors from SRP folks who are unhappy.... check into it before you buy.
Q: I am planning to buy some solar panels for my cabin and i want to be able to store the electricity. what kind of batteries should i get? i will be running simple things like a tv and radio. where can i buy these batteries? where should i look for the best batteries?
If you will be storing them outdoors, you can use auto batteries. Indoors, use sealed marine batteries. Number and size depends on your needs. You will need a charge controller between the solar panels and the batteries to get the maximum power out of the array and to avoid damage to the batteries. And you will need an inverter to convert the 2 or 24 volts to 20 or 240 VAC. One large lead acid battery will supply about 000 watt-hours of energy, enough for 200 watts for 5 hours. You have to look at your loads and decide on how many batteries you need. Frequently it is cheaper to buy new appliances that use less power, as that power difference can save a lot of money in batteries, inverter, charge controller and solar panels. But it sounds like a few thousand watt-hours will be enough, or 2 large batteries. The real limiting factor is how much money you want to spend for the solar panels themselves. .
