- Q:For example, how many large solar panels would you need to operate a greenhouse with lighting for simulate sun during cloudy weather, a scheduled sprinkle system and other such things?I'm looking for a very in depth answer.
- if you are talking electrical solar panels, they are rated in watts they generate in full sun. usually these panels are used in tandem with batteries, so they charge up during the day and the batteries hold a reserve of power for later use. If you figure 8 hours of useful sunlight per day, then a 40 watt panel will light a 40 watt bulb for 8 hours. you can also measure capacity in watt-hours. this would be 40x8 = 320 watt-hours. the general method is to determine how much electricity demand you have over a 24 hour period to get the total watt-hours. then divide that by the watt-hour capacity of one panel to get the number of panels needed.
- Q:Can solar panels be installed on a data center or server room?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on a data center or server room. In fact, many organizations are increasingly adopting solar power as a sustainable energy solution for their facilities, including data centers and server rooms. Solar panels can be mounted on the roof or surrounding areas of the facility to generate clean and renewable electricity, reducing reliance on traditional energy sources and lowering carbon emissions. Integrated with appropriate infrastructure and storage systems, solar panels can effectively power these energy-intensive environments, making them more environmentally friendly and cost-effective in the long run.
- Q:our school spends around $0,000 dollars on energy.we want to know how much money would installing solar panels on the roof save our school.
- I can tell you for a fact you can save money with solar panels. I have a system. I have a 3.74 kw dc system which cost $26K, I got a $0K rebate from my utility and a $2K fed tax credit. I will break even or get ROI in 6-7 years. My system generates about $2K of energy per year. The benefit of a school is most of the energy will be produced during the time that the students are using the facility so you may see a better return. I still use much of my energy when the sun goes down. All businesses get a 30% fed tax credit when they install a system, and many states offer larger rebates to businesses. There are many factors that will determine the efficiency of the panels, my orientation isn't ideal so that drops my production a little. Shade can reduce the number of hours a panel can produce. The number of hours of sunlight and the number of days it is cloudy can affect production as well. Your utility policies can have an economic impact, not all utilities allow the meter to run backwards or buy back the excess energy you produce, most schools are out of session during the longest most productive days. The biggest problem for solar is the large initial payment, without grants or loans it is unlikely a school would have the money to put up a large system. There is no need to zero out the bill, even a partial system can save money.
- Q:The average solar panel produces 0% of the energy that is put into it. What is happening to the other 90%? Is it being reflected or is it being obsorbed by materials that are not a part of the solar cell? Is it possible to one day have near 00% efficient solar cell technology?
- intense frequency waves alongside with x-ray or UV are additionally particularly intense lively while in comparison with the soak up-ale wavelength (which i think is many times infra-pink). so if we are able to make panels that soak up those wavelength rather of the warmth of infra-pink waves, we'd in all danger be getting a lots larger performance than 0%. desire it helped
- Q:I had an idea for new parabolic solar panels shaped like horseshoes. They can install them outside buildings facing the equator. They could angle them from the ground based on how many degrees latitude the location and rotate them according to seasonal changes. The disadvantage of photovoltaic panels is that they are not all capable of receiving direct sunlight. That is the quintessential reason I believe horseshoe solar panels are more effective than flat rectangular ones. One side could function in the morning; the middle could perform at midday; and the other could operate during the evening. That method seems more sensible than hourly positioning. I'm certain horseshoe panels could save and produce more electricity. A football stadium, shopping mall, or outlet center would be a fantastic place. What do you think?
- Well here would be the problem with a horseshoe panel... Due to its shape, you will get a seriously uneven distribution of solar charge. Since the horseshoe shape resembles a parabolic function, the majority of the electrical photovoltaic cells will be spanned over the larger rise/run, meaning the two ends of the parabolic shoe. A way to combat this is that as it approaches 0 from both sides (0 tangency) is to put a higher concentration of photovoltaic cells in comparison to the two ends on either side. An even better design I would say would not to use a flat panel or even a horseshoe, but instead, use a sphere shape. It's globe-like shape would never need to be adjusted. The side pointing towards the sun would absorb and the remaining 360 degrees of shape would absorb ambient light which can trickle in tons of ambient charge. It is an eyesore but the round shape would be the most efficient. If you think about it, nature is the best example to model. Just look at a tree. It's general tree shape is rounded so that all the leaves can pick up some sort of light throughout the day.
- Q:How do solar panels affect the roof's structural integrity?
- Solar panels do not typically affect the roof's structural integrity. Properly installed solar panels distribute the weight evenly across the roof and are designed to be lightweight. In fact, they can even offer some protection to the roof by shielding it from the elements. However, it is important to have a professional assess the roof's condition before installation to ensure it can support the added weight.
- Q:if I have a battery bank of of 6 L-6 Trojan batteries, 6V 390AH, wired in series parallel to give me 2V at 70AH (or 4,040WH) what kind of solar panels should I purchase assuming I have 8 hours of sunlight, a solar tracking system and I want to make sure I can fully recharge my batteries everyday if i use up all the power every night?i understand there are efficiency issues to consider which i have not calculated in yet. thanks.
- If okorder /... yet, it's worth browsing the off-grid section. 8 peak equivalent sun hours a day on average is very achievable with tracking, but are you sure you really want to spend on tracking? It's a lot of trouble and expense - might be cheaper just to get more panels. Also be aware that when you have a lead-acid battery bank capable of (say) 000 Ah, that is the capacity that the batteries could supply as a one-shot deal. If you ever took that much from them, they would be ruined. Typically, you would try to take only 20% of the capacity before recharging, although some batteries let you take 50%, with reduced life. Have you considered wiring the batteries as 36 volts? There would be more efficiency, and less problems with equalizing the batteries when charging. Unless 2 volts is really the output that you need most. Sorry to redirect you, but I can't recommend that forum too highly. Lots of considerations.
- Q:Can solar panels be damaged by hail or other elements?
- Yes, solar panels can be damaged by hail or other elements. Hailstones can cause cracks or dents in the panels, impairing their functionality. Other elements like heavy rain, strong winds, or debris from storms can also potentially damage solar panels. However, most solar panels are designed to withstand typical weather conditions and are often tested for durability.
- Q:Can solar panels be leased or financed?
- Yes, solar panels can be leased or financed. Many companies offer leasing or financing options for solar panel installation, allowing homeowners and businesses to enjoy the benefits of solar power without the upfront cost. Leasing or financing arrangements typically involve monthly payments over a set period of time, making solar energy more accessible and affordable for a wider range of people.
- Q:I am heading to Nepal and do not want to lose power on my cameras but they can only be charged via quot;plugging inquot;. A USB connection does not work. Looking for a solar panel to clip to my bag or carry that I can plug in the charger as if plugging in to wall outlet. Thanks.
- Solar panels require a charge converter before it can be used by an AC source. There is no direct solar panel with built in charge converters that I know of because, when purchasing panels, you must purchase the wattage requirements of the job (this can be several panels linked), and a charge converter that will handle the <? panels required. A chain of stores up here in Canada have a portable battery pack that has a solar panel to increase its charge capacity or duration, but its not something you would want to lug around for long periods of time, because is weights in about 3 lbs.
