The rotation direction
Viewed from motor, the direction of the pump is anti-clockwise,that is the suction in the left, the discharge in the right.
The rotating direction of the type pump is clockwise, that is the suction in the right, the discharge in the left.

- Stop leak does work in some cases but not for a water pump the leak is coming from the seal on the shaft as for it being $600 for a water pump? find another shop as for a pump from a salvage yard? no the seals are most likely dried out they drain the fluids when they salvage a car . what happened to cause the leak? chances are that when draining the old fluid from the system the fluid was thick from age and holding it togather this is common with cooling systems and transmissions as if u wait to long to change its fluid it will cause the transmission to fail. the pump may be 10yrs old time to replace (not for $600) stop leak while has its places wont work on a moving part (IE water pump shaft)
- Q: 1998 Toyota Camry 4-cyl.Engine starts and runs, but makes a horrible, random clunking sound that seems to come from the water pump area. Coolant was seeping from front cover, appeared to be from water pump area again. engine idles, but wont rev up at all.My guess is that a bearing let loose or a vane broke off the water pump and is bouncing around inside, triggering the knock sensor which pulls out all of the timing, not letting it rev. Sound right?If that is the problem, what all is involved in replacing the water pump? Its my roommate's car, but I told him I would fix it if possible to save some money. I'm a fairly competent mechanic, but I don't have the best setup here while I'm away at school, so any info on how involved this will be, how many hours of labor is listed for that, or anything to watch for from someone who has had a similar problem before would be greatly appreciated.

- the only way to check it is to have a well pump service pull the pump and check the verticle lines. they tend to rust out. you can have them replaced by pvc lines now. when our pump went out we had all of the lines replaced because several of the galvanized lines had pin holes in them

And your P0303 is a cylinder # 3 misfire and is not related to your water pump. You did not provide the vehicle information, YMM (year, make, model) which is absolutely necessary when trying to diagnose a vehicle problem. NOTE: If the engine has been hot, you will also need to have a CO2 test performed on the vehicle to see if it is worth fixing!
