Try to really be careful about not knocking it. You're only going to get a keloid if you are prone to them, if you've never had a keloid you likely won't get it. It's hypertrophic scarring that is pretty common with industrial piercings which is why taking care of the piercing is really well. If you're using regular salt then that is a problem - it needs to be non-iodized sea salt. Soak the piercing twice a day for 5-10 minutes each soak with a mixture of 1/4th of a teaspoon of the sea salt to 8oz of hot water. Make sure you're not moving the bar around at all. Take ibuprofen and ice it for the swelling.

Q:I got an industrial/scaffold piercing a few months ago and currently have captive bead rings in (The piercer put those in after he pierced it). The piercings are now healed enough for me to change the piercing, and I found an industrial bar on ebay which I'd really like to order. Only problem is, it has two choices on the gauge thickness and length, and I don't know which mine is.The gauge sizes available are 1.2mm (16g) or 1.6mm (14g) , and the length options are 32mm, 35mm, 38mm.Does anyone know which would be the best to get? Q:Im in college football, I would be puting on and taking off my helmet, I usually keep it on though during practice...but would it be wise for me to get an industrial piercing a couple months before 2 a days and the football season...would the sweat maybe infect my ear, but I am a very clean guy? thanks, if you have an answer it will help my decision.....: trust me, bro. bad idea. industrials are very tempermental at best. your helmet will cause every problem possible. any descent piercer would tell you the same. don't do it. they take up to a year to heal soif you really want one, quit football or wait til you're out of school.
