- Q: Hi there,My apartment is getting so cold. Since I can feel the cold air coming in through the windows I decided to buy a plastic kit that may help me on this situation. When I read on the back it says that it can not be done on drywall (there are not frames around the windows just the draywall). Any suggestions? I would really appreciate it.
- Install heavy drapes on each window. This will cut down the draft. If the windows are in that bad shape you should ask your landlord to replace them.
- Q: I bought a halloween plastic poster of a black cat for a window and it ended up melting to the window, I took as much as I could off but there's quite a it left and the ink also left behind..put rubbing alcohol on it and tried scraping..not the best solution there. Thanks for any easier solutions you may have!
- Best way it to use window scraper (used to remove paint from window) try using a hair dryer to warm the plastic first this will help it come off cleanly and make it easier
- Q: Does that thin plastic window covering people use during the winter really help any?
- Yes! I leave it on many windows all year 'round. It makes your home quieter also. I also put caulk on the edge of the window frame next to the wall/sheetrock to block out more heat-loss. When you install the plastic, don't initially put the plastic on too tight. Use the hair-dryer to smooth out the wrinkles on the plastic. If your windows get a lot of sun, the heat from the sun will also smooth out the plastic. Before you install the plastic, clean the windows well and use clear caulk at the edge of the window glass and the window frame. Caulking the window first, makes your plastic covering work even better.
- Q: Do they get melted down with the paper particles or is there someone that removes the plastic parts? Just curious.
- These bits of plastic get caught in the screens that filter the water out after the paper is pulped, since they are no good for making new paper. These filters take out all kinds of contamination that would be bad for the new paper. The sludge left on the screens is usually discarded in the landfill, but in some areas it's composted.
- Q: I own a 323i bmw convertible. I just replaced the top but the back plastic window is already starting to cloud. I was recommended a wax called ziond or something along those lines. It worked the first time but is now turning the window yellow. I dont wish to replace the window so i was wondering if anyone knew an easier option? such as some home remedy to grease it off. idk ive tried everything!thanks!
- it's not too hard. It's the same thing that happens to headlights, condensation gets in and discolors the plastic. Go to your local Advance or NAPA or even sears, just pick up a thing of headlight restorer. All you have to do is rub it on and rub it off five minutes later. It's pretty cheap too, like 12 bucks max. hope this helped
- Q: So I have a 88 celica convertible and the back window is made out of plastic can not see anything out of it. I replaced it a few years back havent driven it in a while now you cant see out of it. Is there something out there I can use to clear it up?

- Are you aware that bullet proofed platics are more expensive than normal glass. And they are unbreakable, not like glass where you splintered them and cut your hands on it and bleed, ...... and of course, unless its bulletproofed, explosioned-proofed, splintered proofed and whatever proofed, glass or plastic, its purely econs, heard of recycled plastics ( hydrocarbons and moles.......molecular structure, la ) and recycled glass ( silicon, calcium etc....)? Yours is .....not to wonder but know!
- Q: Is plastic on my windows just as good a drapes for the winter?
- Much, Much better -- and wait -- 3M makes a plastic just for windows -- just get right size -- cut to size, tape, and use hair dryer on it to tighten it. I'm telling you that people can't even see that it is there. I've had it on a 6' X 4' bay window in living room and left it up during summer it was so invisible. It's clear as a window and tight as hell.
- Q: I put up fly nets with adhesive velcro strips (were included in the package) on my plastic window frames. That was last year. The glue on the velcro has now turned to dust (literally) leaving dark, pinkish black stains on the white plastic where the sun hit the velcro. Is there any way to remove or bleach these stains? I tried chlorine but that didn't work.
- You can get rid of the glue residue with Goo Gone. Wipe on. Let sit for about a half an hour. Then scrub with a plastic dish scrubber and wipe off with wet paper towels. Good luck. -
