- Did a lot of tiling with my father...and id be the one who would have to clean. This is wut u do. Take a 5 gallon bucket or just any bucket. Fill it with warm water. Take a big sponge and wash the tile. you are going to have to do this a lot of times. probably about 5 times. if there are big pieces of grout, u should be able to pick it off with your finger. DONT USE A RAZOR! you will scratch the tile. just warm water n a sponge. change your water frequently and make sure ur sponge is clean!

- Ceramic or a vinyl tile in a property renovation? Vinyl tiles , I d use a VCT or a pure , color all the way through tile. Proper maintenance and keeping in sealed and polished is the way to make this tiles last a long time.. Ceramic tile work great too but the cost and installation product will add up but the tile will out last almost any thing for durability. The slip rating I d suggest nothing less than a 4.. And BTW.. Grout is a lot cheaper per s/f than any average tile, so don t let that bother you. Proper installation is the key to a long lasting ceramic til job. - Several types of tile are made in the US. Some include Florida Tile, American Olean some Laufen tile are made here. You don t necessarily need a 12x12 , you may want to consider a smaller tile in that space. Even some of the makers listed above import the tile from Turkey, China, Italy etc. Over the years I haven t done much China made tile so I can t honestly comment on that. Almost any tile made ( almost) will be fine in a residential bathroom setting. Porcelain tiles are fine but normal ceramics will also work well. Vinyl sheet goods will also work fine in a bathroom. They come in 6 and 12 ft goods, so a 6x7 foot pc will work excellent for you since you won t scrap out much and you ll be seamless. - best way to remove the tile would be a heat gun or a propain torch the torch can be dangerous, a good heat gun cost is,nt that much, get youeself a 3to 4 in putty knife and the heat gun and awawy you go , what are you going to replace the old tile whith .???
- Q:I have a tile floor in a basement bathroom. These are small 2 inch tiles and I would like larger 8 by 8 inch tiles on the floor. Do I need to remove the old tile or can the new tile be laid right over the old tile? The subloor is concrete slab.
- If down secure you sure can but there are a few extras you have to do. First the top tile must be clean ,dry and oil free.You must use an extra strong this set, at least stronger than you normally would. Third and very important. You must allow at least 1 extra day for the thin set to dry before any foot traffic. I like to do 2/3 days if possible. If you don t let them dry, they ll seem hard but the thin set bond can break w/o you knowing and he tile will fail at a later date.
