Q:and if so, can I just put the tile on top of the sanded laminate counter top?
Yes you can tile over laminate but remember that the base is what is holding the tile down and just caulk around the sink.
Q:How does the tile stick up? The benefits of stickers? What is the difference between sticky and wet stickers? Do i want to be thin
Want to thin point will wall flatness is good, the actual tile adhesive layer is less than 1cm; most of the thickness of the leveling layer, the general construction plaster 2 m error of about 1-1.5cm, then the actual paste tile gray The thickness of the need to reach 2-2.5cm, and then thin can not be friends, or paste in the glass is very flat on the basis of
Q:hello, this is my first tile and grout job, tiling is done now for grout. bought premixed grout, rubber float, sponge, started grouting last night, put grout on the float and applied to the tile. pushed it into the space between tiles, but it seems like alot fell off in the tub (its in the spaces between tiles) but is this normal for the grout to fall off the wall (i guess it would be considered excess?) but is that normal no sure how applying grout is suppose to look? i know i need to let it sit for 24hrs then do clean up then seal it when done. plz let me know if that grout falling in tub is normal or am i doing something wrong? ( grout is in the grout line though) just looks like alot is falling, or am i useing to much at one time? don‘t know? thx again for any info. mike
it is practically unavoidable not to make a mess when grouting tile on vertical walls (unless you are a pro). . .but, just like anything else, the more you do it, the more efficient you become. I wouldn't worry too much, as long as your joints are completely full. One concern would be the 24 hour wait period to clean up. . . After you fill your joints with grout it helps to hold your float at almost a 90 degree angle to wipe off the excess grout on the tile. The more you can wipe off, the easier it will be to clean. I usually start sponging with clean water after about 10-15 minutes after the joints are filled (depending on joint width). Fill a 5 gallon bucket with clean water and continue sponging the excess grout off the tile and cleaning your sponge as you do it. Once you are satisfied with how clean the tile is, let it set for another 30-45 minutes. There will be a light grout film or haze on the tile. Take a cheesecloth or the inside of a sock and wipe off the haze. . .wait a day or two then seal it. But, I certainly wouldn't wait 24 hours to clean the tile, it may be too late.
Q:I have an on going problem in my kitchen. Same time tile floor was done in our home but kitchen is the problem. It was done 3-4 years ago by a contractor, however he never showed up his face to help us. He left some grout with us and said if ever the grout pops up then we can mix it in the water and fill with this mixture. The grout from the kitchen floor always comes out. Underneath, the kitchen is wood floor. The kitchen is on the second floor. Our family room is also on the second level but no problem to that floor Please help.
When the tile was laid it didn't have enough mortar/thin set put underneath some tiles...If so then the tiles shift and the grout cracks..I am a 37 year experienced painter, but have done all phases of construction work..I was once being a helper for a regular tile man when the painting was slow, and he had a contractor that before he paidd them , walked around with a golf ball and from a little over waist high he dropped a golf ball on each and every tile..The ball will respond on a properly laid tile and bounce back with a good solid sound..when he reached one that did not bounce all the way back and made a hollow thud sound..he marked that tile and Brian had to pull it and replace it before receiving his check on a completed job.. The best tile layers will possibly have 3 or 4 in a house without enough thin set under them, but a poor tile layer can have 40 or 50 in a house improperly done..TRY THE GOLF BALL TEST yourself and see..before deciding on the points here..I bet one of the tiles on an area where the grout is coming up..will give you that hollow thud..keep in mind there are at least two tile next to the grout, if not 4 if near a corner..I just bet ...get a cheap golf ball and try this..You will see what I'm talking about..You can literaly pull any imporoperly laid tile up if careful without breaking it.. scrape the thin set off..and same for the thin set on the floor..and reset the tiles...Go through test all your tiles..then put one of them flourescent garage stickers on each improper one..then reset them
Q:Home decoration with what tiles better
Research a lot of tiles, online tattoo comments brand tiles are: the famous Dongpeng many Shandong Zibo OEM turn, just advertising to do bright! Shop out is not smooth! Marco Polo also has a lot of branded brick! Comments that gold pottery is rubbish, poor service! Commented that the generals serious uneven, I really experience from the physical shop what is the stone arch bridge! Commented that Samit was serious in the drum, I also deliberately in the physical store is indeed the case, I have been set and back! Online comment Nobel is not flat, this I did not see! Gold rudder is expensive! ... ... I want to buy a brand name of the number of friends to the brand Tucao finished, not scolded like only Hongyu and crown beads, so I deliberately went to the two stores looked, really fabulous, but hit Hongyu sound Crisp, may be good bricks, but the price is very expensive, in our reputation there is no crown beads, so into the crown beads shop, but also very expensive. I deliberately poured the floor of the small floor of the brick, actually did not infiltrate a minute, so I decided to buy beads, but the price seems to be as expensive as Hongyu, only buy crown beads tiles and toilet bricks, to save money, kitchen brick to buy A miscellaneous brand. Hope that the crown will not let me down!
Q:I would like to install laminated flooring in my kitchen. Two of the wall are tiled. Is it possible to undercut these tiles or is there an easier method to do a neat installation?
The box usually has pretty good instructions on it, otherwise ask the people where you bought the tiles. You can use the tiles themselves as spacers between the wall and the tiles so that there is a gap. Just place them on edge. Or you can get plastic spacers from any DIY store. This is to leave room for expansion so the tiles don't warp. You can then cover the gap with floor trim. Good luck. It is fairly easy.
Q:I need tile removed from my shower
Start with a key hole saw, and saw all around the out side of the tile, cutting through the dry wall. After all the plumbing covers are removed, you can then start to use a pry bar and work the tile loose from the studs. This will work for tile over dry wall, over a backer board or even a mud job.. Cover the tub well, wear a dust mask and cover all areas for dust protection. Open a window if possible and set a fan there blowing dust out. Use hammer as little as possible to prevent razor sharp chips from flying and wear all safety gear, including long sleeve shirts, eye and ear protection. And most of all have the elbow grease ready. Q:I live in Tennessee near nashville, I want to recarpet and ceramic tile in my house but want an estimated cost, of how much so i dont get jipped It‘s a 2,000 sq ft house and.. its two bath one kitchen for tile and three bedroom and living room and hallway for carpet.. anyone know where i can get help i dont want to overpay at all! also empire company has anyone ever done business with them? know if they are good at all///?
go to a warehouse, low overhead type of place, not a fancy flooring store. ask the sales person if the price on the tag is his best offer. they have some wiggle room in the prices.
Q:Is there a simple way to lay ceramic tile. It is for a small bathroom. Never laid it before but There is a first time for everything. Should I use small tile or large.About 50 sq feet
I am not sure but i know you can learn on line or at a store.
Q:i have ceramic tiles that are loose hollow underneath
Many possible reasons why.. To little adhesive used ( usually a thin set not a grout) .Thin set to dry. Thin set to wet. Under supported tile such as incorrect under layment.Under layment installed incorrect. Incorrect adhesive for the job. Thin set skimmed over during setting and didn t bond to the tile. Installer didn t press and twist the tile into the thin set correctly. Some one walked on the tile to soon after setting and the bond is broke between the thin set and the tile. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there.
