I noticed at Lowe's the other day a heater coil that was made to be put under the tiles to keep them nice and toasty for your feet. I spoke to the lady about them and she said that they were becoming fairly common place. I am tiling my laundry room, so I don't think I will heat it.

- Q: I want to know how to make tile based map in java. Retro games used tiled maps (to ease programming and memory management) but those games were created in assembly language. I know basic java. Now I want to make a 2d game in java, starting with a pretty basic 2d platformer type or top-down type. To do this, i need to know the technique required to make a map, a tile map.I have already searched in google and youtube and stack overflow, but none helped much. What I learnt is that I have to make some tile object and make a 2 dimensional matrix to store position of particular tiles. But this does not helped much. - I would suggest getting a good tile book at the book store or library and reading it. Despite what the first answerer says it is not quite easy. I have probably done 75 bathrooms and while it's not terribly difficult it does take some skill and some planning. Especially around corners and other transitions. As was suggested do not use drywall behind the tile in a shower. Study up and then make a decision. Good luck

- There are re-glazing products out there, or professionals who'll do it for you. You find them usually advertised for re-doing tubs, but you can use it on tile too. It's not a true reglazing in that it is still paint, but it's durable enough as long as you stay away from abrasive cleaners. If you do it yourself, make sure you do the following: Clean/scrape all the tile surface and grout lines. Repair lose/damaged tiles. Touch up all the grout to perfection -- let cure. Sand tile; completely and thoroughly clean off dust. Cover/tape off all edges/areas not to be glazed, including any hardware, trim, etc that can't be removed. THEN apply primer, let cure, and then paint. Don't underestimate the power of using quality tools. If you get a professional, the results are almost always better, since they use a sprayer (protecting everything that isn't to be sprayed). It really depends on your area and how much tile you're talking about, but professionally reglazing a tub usually runs around $300, to give you an idea. Call around though.
