- Q: I ordered this recently only to find that it was just the HDD, no cords whatsoever. I've never had to buy cables for an HDD before, and I'm especially not used to SATA (I didn't make the jump from IDE to SATA until this year.)
- You will need to buy a data transfer cable to connect to the hard drive at one end and onto your motherboard at the other end to carry data to and from the hard drive to your computer. The cable is simply called a SATA cable and they are about 18 inches long or so. They are usually either red, orange, blue or yellow in colour and they are about half an inch wide or so. You can buy them from your local computer store for about $ 4.00 or so Canadian. They do however come with your motherboard (you usually get two of them included in the box when you buy it). For the power end of it you will need to find an empty non-connected Molex connector coming from your power supply unit in the computer. Just simply connect this Molex power supply cable to the hard drive at the back of it where indicated. That is all there is to it. Good luck
- Q: my mom just ordered the kinect package for $149 but i didnt realise until after that i needed the extra power cable for the kinect controller (motion sensor thing)... and i dont have the $50 to get it either so if anyone has purchased this already does it come with the power cable or do i need to start trying to sell my xbox to upgrade to the slim?
- the xbox slim does have a different power cable and a speical slot for the the kinect cable as i brought one the other day you would have to buy the new xbox slim i should think
- Q: My laptop works gr8, but the power cable when plugged into the machine is quite loose and just falls out sometimes which is very annoying. Has anyone with this laptop had the same problem and fixed it? if so how? an what do you think i can do to fix it?
- contact dell maybe theyll help u
- Q: Hi! I want to buy I new Hard Drive but I've got a problem. I have the IDE conector but I don't have the Power Cable. It is connected to my Video Card. Can I add a new one? Can I use a power cable from a optical drive(CD/DVD)? Thanks!
- All you need to do is pop down to your local computer store and get a power splitter, just make sure you get the right type, IDE and SATA drives have a different kind of power connector, so just make 100% sure before you buy!
- Q: Also i want to add more power cables to power my hardrives WHAT SHOULD I BUY !!?
- You buy internal SATA cables from a store like Micro Center. You can also buy adapters that plug into your hard drive power supply connectors and then your SATA drives. But you could also buy a new power supply that has multiple SATA power connectors
- Q: I've had this laptop (Dell Studio XPS 1640) for about two and a half years, and I've been through three power cables. The first one was a no-brainer, since the end was wearing a lot and you could see the wires. The past two have basically just stopped working for no obvious reason. The blue light on the end of the cord still lights up blue, but my computer says plugged in and not charging. I just bought a brand new one less than four months ago and it's worked perfectly until this past week. Has anyone else been having this problem with similar laptops? And if so, is there anything I can do besides wasting more money on a new cable?
- I would suggest your take your adapter in to your local computer store and they can check it out. If your adapter is working but your still not getting current then the problem is inside your computer and it will need to be sent for repairs... Source(s): CompTIA A+ Computer Professional
- Q: My power supply cable to the motherboard is only 20 pin and the motherboard has a slot to take a 24 pin power cord. The 20 pin will fit but 4 slots are just left empty. The motherboard LED light comes on showing it has power. When I try to boot up the motherboard runs but the hard drive doesn't boot or the screen isn't working. Could this be b/c of not having a 24 pin power cable?I know the video card and HD work b/c I just transfered them from another motherboard that was a 20 pin. Any ideas?
- Yes it will work, but it may affect your system's performance.
- Q: I have an IVI Checkmate receipt printer, but do not have a power cable for it. Where can I get a power cable for this receipt printer?
- Hi.. I think for all your power cable and cable accessories requirement this site can be helpful
- Q: I have a white Xbox 360 system (elite maybe). I have it hooked up to a 26HD TV in my room. When I have friends over to play, we like to move the xbox downstairs to a 52TV so we can play split screen mode without squinting! The unplugging of cables creates such a hassle, and I was wondering if it was possible to use another AC power cable and more video cables downstairs so I only have to move the console itself. Can someone tell me if this will work if I purchase another set of cables on OKorder and or give any specifications about what need/should buy? Please help, and thanks!
- you certainly can do that. the only problem is that the power brick is like 100 bucks but if you think it's worth it then you certainly have that option. if your tv is an hd tv, then buy an hdmi cable. i got one from the apple store for 20 bucks and it works great. just the power is so expensive.. OKorder is different. if you went to the store and bought a new one, or if you ordered one directly from microsoft, it would be 100 dollars. i'm sure people sell used ones on OKorder or craigslist for much less but it's your call if you want to risk them ripping you off or something. hdmi is the high definition equivalent of component or av cables. it feeds the video and audio to the tv. it doesn't provide power. if you do get hdmi, don't forget to go to your xbox video settings and change the output from standard 1080p
