- Q: Can solar panels be used in combination with other renewable energy sources?
- Yes, solar panels can be effectively used in combination with other renewable energy sources such as wind turbines, hydroelectric power, or geothermal energy. This combination, known as hybrid renewable energy systems, allows for increased reliability, better utilization of resources, and a more stable power supply.
- Q: Can the solar panels available be coated with a material (to improve it's looks) and not alter it's efficiency?
- No. The only coatings I am aware of are those that reduce reflection so more light gets through the protective surface to the actual cells. Anything thing that affects appearance is going to be reflecting light back to the viewer and the photons of that light are not available for electricity or heat. If the appearance of the panels offends you, then they need to be concealed by a fence of panels around them that do not throw shadows on the panels.
- Q: I'm writing a post-apocalyptic story in it the main character finds a warehouse. Eventually he finds out the roof is covered with commercial solar panels. Given it's been over a year since the majority of the world died no manainence was done, do they still work?
- In my experience working with solar panels, I've found that the panels themselves are robust and can last years. How that energy is transferred from the panel to perform work (sorry for the boffinism) is where the complexity emerges, namely due to the fact solar panels produce DC current, and nearly all of our electrical appliances use AC current. In most cases, solar panels will either send energy through a DC/AC inverter directly to be used for appliances, or stored in deep cycle batteries, then converted to AC using an inverter when the user wants to use his/her appliance. Now to answer your question: the solar panels will be fine, and could conceivably be in fine working order with AC current available IF... and I cannot stress this enough (namely through years of field experience dealing with solar powered scientific instrumentation that was working well and then mysteriously not working)... IF rats and other rodents haven't eaten through the wires. This is probably the most likely reason that a set of solar panels wouldn't be working in your given scenario. Hope this helps, and good luck!!
- Q: my dad met a guy representive for a solar panel company at a swapmeet Scam?
- Hard to say. Solar panels are becoming more common these days. May want to ask if the vendor is licensed and bonded contractor (if he's doing installation as well as panel sales). Find out the name of the equipment that this guy is selling (panels and other hardware) and do a search. For that matter, get the guys name and do a search on it to see he pops up elsewhere.
- Q: Solar panel packages have different levels of power. For instance you can get a kw system but is this kw per hour or day. How does this work?
- kW is the unit of measurement used. kWh means you have kW steady for an entire hour. In the case of solar panels, say you are using 00W panels. That means at any given time assuming ample sunlight is hitting the panel, it is producing 00W. You wanted a kW so you will need ten panels at 00W (less or more depending on the rating of the panel) this will give you kW. That means at any given time you can get as many watts as needed up to kW (000W). Say the sun hits the panels for eight hours a day, you will have kWh each of those eight hours, or 8kWh per day. Unless you have a system of batteries to capture unused power, you will only be able to use up to kW (000W) at any given time, any unused power will be wasted. Solar panels alone are not like a generator, they do not slow down or speed up depending on demand. Even with no load on them, they will produce as much power as they are able, and without batteries that power is lost. To simply answer your question, if you get a kW system, that means kW per hour.
- Q: we are doing a fundraiser to have students pledge to make donations for a solar panel instalation on one of the school buildings. I am looking for a slogan for the campain.
- Solar Energy Is School! It's School To Go Solar!
- Q: how to build a solar panel
- Can you show us how to build a solar panel ?
- Q: Can solar panels be installed on a warehouse or industrial facility?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on a warehouse or industrial facility. In fact, these large structures often have ample roof space, making them ideal for solar panel installations. Installing solar panels on warehouses or industrial facilities can help offset energy costs, reduce carbon emissions, and contribute to a more sustainable energy future.
