- Not unless you want to degrade its pressure rating! Bring it inside to warm it and attach the nuts, cones, and retaining rings, then take it outside to tighten to the fittings. If you can't bring it inside, gently warm with a hair dryer, but do not heat it too much. If it is too soft, the metal rings will cut through it.

- It would be best if you replaced it. The old one might not be long enough and when you try to use fittings made for copper (compression) more than once, they won't make a tight and correct seal. Also by using the new line, it would cut down on any chances of a leak on down the way. It's not that big of deal to just change it out, just do it and you will have peace of mind knowing you did a 1, professional job installing it.

- It will work best on porous surfaces like wood. It won't work well on plastic. Read the label for applications

- Dude. DO NOT smoke ANYTHING through PolyVinyl Chloride (PVC) pipe!!! It will f**k you up royally, and you will most likely die. There's a reason most bongs are made of glass (or even acrylic). If you're looking for something homemade, use brass, or even copper. You should be able to find enough parts, fittings, etc at the hardware store to rig up something suitable.

- Plumbers putty won't prevent a leak. Escaping water will be under pressure that putty like that won't hold. Pex pipe is very good stuff and if it's not leaking now under pressure it's not going to. If you won't to play it safe though you could wrap it all in a heavy gauge plastic sheeting . Then funnel that sheeting into a pipe that you run to the crawlspace or basement if you have one. If you're on a slab foundation you have to get creative as to where to route such a pipe. Still I think you're very safe. Pex pipe and the fittings are very reliable.
