- Q: last year someone gave me a rear windshield wiper motor from their eclipse they soldi have the base model that came w/o a rear windshield wiper, but it has both the connectors for the motor and for the switchbefore putting a hole in my rear hatch i wanted to make sure it would worki hooked both of them up, but no activity from the motor. do i need to put a fuse in the fuse box for it, or is the motor more than likely junk?
- This is not an easy install. Messing with you fuse box could cause your whole electrical system to blow. You will have to string wiring from the back hatch to the dash. Then hotwire the switch and the wires to test your motor. You will also need to find a open spot in you fuse box and clip in the wiper's power to the fuse box. I think a 10 amp will be sufficient. If your motor will not work, then use a amp meter to test if you did the work right. In my opinion, the rear wiper is a good thing to have during the winter months, but this install is not worth all the trouble.
- Q: When I was a little kid I remember windshield wipers pointed towards the center of the windshield and went up and down opposite each other in a staggered fashion. Then at some point they started pointing in the same direction and moving up and down at the same pattern and rate. I‘ve always wondered why this changed.Does anyone know what I‘m talking about? - Yes I agree that the windshield got cleaner the old way. However, the auto makers found out that it takes less components to make a windshield wiper assembly with the wipers going the same direction. So the bottom line was cost.
