- Q: I know you you have to tuck in your shoulders for flies but do u hve to do it for press also...?
- Flies and presses work the same muscle group at a different angle. If you are lying down, you just need to make sure that you are straight, tummy pulled in, and the arm movements are strong and controlled. arms slightly bent throughout the whole movement (don't lock elbows).
- Q: When I do a chest workout.. bench press, incline bench press, pec fly, it feels like the outside of my shoulders are being worked and not my pecs.I do my presses with dumbells. What might I be doing wrong? Thanks
- It sounds like you might not be isolating your pecs. I'd suggest you actually lower your weight and focus on your pecs doing the work. Relax all other muscles. Even your grip, don't hold the bar but rather let it rest in your palm, then contract your pects and bring them in. When you've improved your form, add more weight.

- Q: I've bench pressed for many years and encountered this problem over the past 2months.During my first set I will get pretty intense pain in my right bicep. It will be fine after the 2nd set but never the less it is very uncomfortable, could lead to joint damage and reduces how much I can do on my chest during the session. How can I resolve this problem? Why is it happening?
- Well first off it could be from any number of things, now you say you have been lifting for years so im sure you know that the tricep is the secondary muscle when benching, however depending on how wide your grip is, and what the position of your arms are at the bottom of the press can put more strain on muscles other than your chest and tris, therefore your biceps could be called in to the press, ask someone to watch you and when let them know when the pain starts, is most intense, and when it starts to go away throughout the rep. then try moving around your grip and and relying on stricter form and have them watch you again and see if the point of pain changes, lessens, or increases. None the less you should talk to a sports injury specialist, NOT YOUR GENERAL PHYSICIAN, nothing against them, but those that are in the sports medicine field study specifically that.
- Q: This specific chest press machine.Does it work the upper chest?thank you
- No, it wasn't designed for that. However, the machine will work the entire chest with the emphasis on the mid pec. If you want specifically target the upper pec, use an incline bench and do flys and dumbbell presses. And, just the opposite for the lower pec....a decline bench. You'll feel the burn in the anterior deltoid if you're working the upper pec. You'll get a more diverse and thorough chest workout if you do all three...flat bench, incline, and decline. It's also worth mentioning that the exercise and equipment only get you in the ballpark and what has the final say in what muscles are being worked is the brain. For example, a bench press uses both the pectoral and the triceps as major movers. How much of the motion is pec and how much is triceps can be controlled in part by your brain. It requires that you understand the muscular activity and can control the muscles individually when at rest. Flexing the muscles individually at rest and with no motion is one way to help train your brain to understand how to contract the muscles individually. Then, if you focus on working the stronger muscle (pec) more fully throughout reps, you'll help prevent the triceps from failing prematurely and keep you from quitting before you have a good pec workout. Where I worked out many years ago we called that putting the mind in the muscle...mentally focusing on the target muscle so it gets the greatest possible workout while saving the weaker supporting muscles for the last reps. Good luck and good health!! ?
- Q: Hello, my bench press max is 285 I don't do dumbbell bench press often but I realized that I should put it into my workout to work the stabilizing muscles so how much should I dumbbell bench press? also for my incline bench press, I do 200 for 12 reps but should I increase it by 10 pounds?
- Well, only you know how much u can handle an how strong u really are... just do a weight u can lift for 4-6 reps or 6-8 and do the dumbell press on a incline you should be good to do 75- 90 lbs im sure... on the incline so try that... see how it goes.. u can also drop down if its a bit much yes increase your incline benchpress.. its too easy for u... correction on the dumbell incline press when i say 75 - 90 lbs.. i mean 75- 90lbs dumbells in each hand.. not 75- 90 lbs total weight.. just making sure u know... lol :)
- Q: I need to know the definition of partisan press for my government exam, does anyone know what it is?
- This Site Might Help You. RE: What is partisan press? I need to know the definition of partisan press for my government exam, does anyone know what it is?
- Q: For the first time in nearly 2 years of being natural, I am getting my hair pressed today by at a natural hair salon!! I am excited!!! But how do you protect your pressed hair? Its starting to get warm/humid here (Baltimore, MD) and there is even a chance of rain this saturday. Also, I am going to a cabaret saturday night but I want to make my press lasts its longest! Any suggestions? Also, how do you keep pressed hair moisturized? I am a 4a/c
- I am not a hair care professional but I have been thinking about doing what you have done and had conducted some research. When I asked around I could not find any consistent answers. The fact that pressing hair removes moisture from our hair, the few ways I understood this dryness could be remedied were a combination of things as follow: 1) From the inside, do adopt a diet that allows your body to provide fatty acids to your hair roots and a balanced diet to keep you in great health. Drink a lot of water as this is necessary to regulate normal body functions anyway. 2) Daily use a small dab of natural oil over the hair such as Jojoba. 3) Wash the hair often- do not stretch a wash beyond 3 weeks. Use a silk protein shampoo paying attention to clean the scalp well and always have deep conditioning treatments paying attention to the ends using natural oil products like the Carol Daughter's line 4) Just like we did by resting our hair for a couple of years, from time to time it is recommended that we allow the hair to rest from the excessive heat of the hot comb and flat iron. I plan to find a wig close to my hair style to use in my rest period 5) When styling hair, try not to put excessive stress on the hair by pulling for eg. in a pony tail. Hope this helps. I plan to follow that regimen myself so let's hope it works for both of us.
- Q: i want the information about the fat reducing press.
- This is a really obscure question, and I'm not at all certain that I've found the correct answer to it. The meaning of the patriotic fat reducing press of 1790 was ... I think ... the process during the French Revolution in which the monarchy was overthrown and the King (plus his family and chief advisers) was imprisoned. The King was referred to as a fat hog, because he grew fat off the labors of his subjects. His imprisonment was the patriotic fat reducing press, because it prevented him from growing 'fat' in that way any longer. My explanation for this answer lies in the following excerpt from an article by Katharine Macdonogh in History Today magazine, Vol. 46, August 1996. The widespread use of animal metaphor during the French Revolution provides insight into the mentality of a predominantly rural population living in a pre-industrial age. Hebert and his sort released metaphorically the wild beasts from the famous Versailles menagerie and caged the monarchs in their place. Marie Antoinette is ever the 'archtigress', or the 'Austrian she-wolf', and her children are 'the little wolves'; Louis XVI is most frequently likened to a pig -- Clery recorded seeing graffiti on the wall of the Temple promising 'we shall find a way of reducing the great hog's fat'.
- Q: I work for a country-western media company and would like to get hold of press passes for an upcoming concert. Now this would be my first one, so what steps should I take to obtain a press pass?
- Assuming you're actually a member of the press -- meaning you're going to write or broadcast something about the concert -- your first contact would be the concert promoter. They may be able to arrange press credentials, or they can put you in touch with the band's management. Be aware that having a press pass does not necessarily give you access to the performers. You can ask for an interview, but they're under no obligation to give you one. If you're not a member of the press, but just want to get backstage, you'll have to come up with a pretty convincing reason why you should be there.
