- Q: I just bought an old drill press from a pawn shop, but there is no manufacturer info on it. All i can find is a model number, RY-6. My first instinct was Ryobi, but can't find anything about it from them, even though it does look very much like their press, just a lot older model. It's a little 10 press. If anyone can either confirm my guess, or point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it.

- Q: So i just got a French press and are a little unsure of how to use it properly. The directions and other websites have said to only use coarsely ground coffee in the press ( the directions said it would clog the filter and other how-to sites said it would go through the filter). My question is then this: is pre ground coffee (ex. fresh market Christmas blend) from the store not a good idea to put in the French press? I do not have a coffee grinder and am not planning on buying one.
- Unfortunately you cannot use ground coffee from the supermarket, or even coffee you grind in a regular coffee grinder for a French Press because the grind will be too fine. As you noted, the directions for the press tell you to use coarse-ground beans and the only way to really get a uniform grind is to use a Burr Grinder ... and they aren't cheap. The good news is that you can use your French Press for tea (using tea bags or whole loose leaves).
- Q: I want to know how to use a French Press and I don't feel like Googling it.
- Boil water. Now I use 1 1/2 scoops per 8oz cup because I think coffee should taste like coffee. I use a 16oz cup. So I put 3 scoops of coffee into the Press. When the water boils, I fill the Press to about 1 1/2 inches from top. I set a timer for 4 minutes and stir coffee once. When timer goes off press down and pour. Use a coarse ground coffee so as not to clog the Press filter.

- One large effect which you should include in your paper is the ability of the printing press to distribute the ideas of European church reformer Martin Luther after 1517. This was the Protestant Reformation fueled by printed writings of Luther and others. Luther translated the bible into German so people (who could read German but not Latin) could read it for the first time. Of course many could not read their own language in the 1500's, but there was always someone in the community who would read printed materials to groups of people. Books had been rare and unobtainable by all but the very rich until the advent of the printing press. The press allowed the spread of many ideas - religious and political being chief among them. I want to know, what is a really good garlic press that will give me nice pieces of garlic and will clean very easily?Do you have a website? - I have a Zyliss that I like. It came w/ a little cleaner thingy to clean the holes out . But normally, I don't bother. I just mash the clvoe on a cutting board w/ a wide knife, then chop finely. Works for whatever a garlic press would be needed for.

- That's close to what we now have on the Internet... and I'm all for it. It's up to the reader to discern the truth. The libel laws are important, but that generally does not protect major media figures. Swift boating uses stories about stories to get out negative impressions without lying. The neocons have funded this strategy repeatedly. The media just keeps reporting it. Unfortunately, the major media does not tred on very important and sensitive areas. RIght now the US does not have anything close to a free press because they are interested in high ratings and not offending the sponsors. This is nothing new. Unfortunately, money speaks louder than truth. The media has been used as a propaganda machine since its inception.
