Q:I just hung my tv on the wall and replaced the video and audio cables with an hdmi cable. Now the cable remote no longer controls the TV volume and I have to use the original TV remote to control volume. I have checked all the settings and I cannot figure it out. Does anyone have a solution here other than calling the cable company and getting the run around?
The cable remote likely controlled the analog audio out on the box. It has no such control over digital out, which HDMI is. You need to re-program the remote to control the TV, including volume.
Q:Along with my cable box, I received a universal remote control. I programmed the TV fine but I can't program my DVD player. On the back of the manual (where all of the codes are), by brand of DVD player is not there. It is an Avion. Does this mean that I can not program the remote to work with the DVD player? Or is there another way to program it??? Please help!
I do not know of any other way except for that.
Q:By default the comcast remote channel buttons control the cable box tuner as expected. I know there is a procedure to get the remote to control the television tuner instead. anyone know how?
1. On the remote control' Press CABLE once. Then press and hold SETUP until the CABLE key blinks twice, then release Setup. 2. Enter 9 7 3 . Press CH- once. The CABLE key will blink four times. 3. Now, the remote control will provide TV or cable channel control capabilities while in the TV or CABLE mode.
Q:I am asking this bcos I bought new LCD just 2 weeks ago and when I hooked my TV with cable box through AV cable I got the bursting sound. I thought it is bcoz of bad speakers then I exchange my LCd and unfortunately I have the same problem with the new TV. Now I am ready to exchange this one too but trying to find out if something wrong in my home like the way I am doing connections or something wrong with the cable box. Pls suggest. I dont wanna mess up my new LCD again. Thanks
Set cable box volume to 92 percent. And don't turn the volume of the TV up too loud.
Q:I just plugged in my HDMI cable and everything is working fine except I don't have any sound. I have a Sanyo TV screen that I have plugged into my PC computer using my new cable. I tried hitting input on my remote so I can switch volume control over to HDMI but instead of showing me a list of things to choose from it changed the channel. I have also tried switching from HDMI-1 to HDMI-2 but that didn't give me sound either. If there is anything you know of to help I would greatly appreciate it!
It could be one of two things that I can think of. First of all check that audio output of your laptop is set correctly (you should find them under control panel) you may have to experiment with the settings. secondly you have to find the audio settings on your TV they should be under a menu somewhere and look at those. It's hard to be exact as not all models are the same.
Q:I got a new tv. All this stuff was hooked-up to old tv and worked fine. when I got the new tv and hooked everything up, the dvd/vcr player will no longer play on the tv and the cable in my bedroom no longer works, however it does work in 2 other rooms in the house besides the main tv. Does anyone know of a service that will come and check this all out, and hook it up right so everything works? Thanks for all your help.
Call your local cable TV provider, or an electronics store that does custom installations.
Q:I have a Sony DCRTRV900 and I used to have a Sony laptop as well with video editing software and Adobe Premier. The computer is old so I need to connect it to a new computer. Is there a firewire to usb cable? And if I use a program like Premier will it control the camera or how do I just import videos and then save or edit? Also, is this camera even worth using anymore? I remember it was about $2800 new, but I'm sure you can buy something new for a lot less.
MiniDV tape vcams, like your DCR-TRV900 still abound these days, in fact most professionals still use this format/media. The DV format is least compressed and is still one of the best std. def. format for video editing. I have my consumer model since 7 years still working well. Most have commented that firewire/ USB doesn't work haven't tried myself. Transfer/upload thru firewire is the best method. And Yes the video editing app remotely controls connected miniDV vcams on playback during capture/import. These days you can get a new one for less than $200, smaller, lighter, but your model is relatively sturdy and is still used as back-up camera by some prof. Oh and Premiere's latest is CS4. I still have a copy of Premiere 5.

Q:I replaced the intake manifold on my 1989 caprice with a Holley high rise high performance manifold. Everything came out right but now the car aint shifting right. The machanic told me that the original bracket that holds the TV cable/gear cable couldnt be used so he had to use the bracket that came with the new manifold. He adjusted the gear cable all the way but the car would take a while to shift so he added some sip ties at the end of the cable to tighten it alittle but now I feel it's shifting to soon. Is it because it needs more tighten? Should i add another sip tie? Should the cable be tight or have some slack?
Shorter cable will shift sooner, longer later
Q:i pulled the cable tv hook up out of my tv can you help me please.
My understanding of what happened is that the Cable In jack on the tv broke. I'm trying to think of the cheapest way for you to solve this without special equiptment. This way is a bit annoying but it would work. If you have vcr many can recieve a cable signal. What you would do is run the cable cable to the Cable in on the vcr then run a composite cable (yellow, red, white) from the vcr to the tv. This way requires the tv to be on an av station or channel 3/4 (depending on the tv),the vcr must be on and the vcr remote would control the stations. Plus to this way is no need to increase cable services or rental fees just because the jack busted. Otherwise I would recommend considering a cable box or finding a way to fix/replace the tv. Depending on your cable company boxes can either be rented or bought. They are connected to the wall jack with a screw in cable cable. Then you have the option to use and hdmi, composite, or component cable (green, blue, red, red, white) to go between the box and the tv. Honestly a cable box is the best cable to hdmi hook up out there.
