Q: I am trying the carb cycling or atkins diet what ever you want to call it but I am having a hard time finding very many recipes for phase 1 or no carbs what so everAny will be greatly appreciated.
You COULD run a series of beams across, then hang joists from itThe beams are necessary when using rafters rather than trusses to tie the outside walls togetherDepending on the span, you may need posts under the center of the beams, which would require posts or a beam under the floorHope this helpsEDIT: It seems that people here are confusing rafters and trussesThere is no bottom chord on a pair of raftersThere is a ridge board, collar ties, and ceiling joistsThe joists can be eliminated if continuous beams are installed at the appropriate intervalsWhat these intervals are would need to be determined by an architect or engineer, and approved by the building inspectorThey also need to be supported, as I statedGood luck.
Q: I'm sending a package over to someone in IraqI want to include some baked goods, but I'm worried about them spoiling or going staleI heard about getting one of those big vacuum bags and put them in that, suck out all the air, and then put some of the silicon beads in the box with it to keep the moisture awayBut I wasn't sure if that actually worksSometimes the lids on plastic containers pop open easily so I don't really want to use thatI was thinking about putting the vacuum bag of baked goods in a tin container but I'm not too sureAny suggestions?I asked this in Food Drink but no one answered.
I am SO glad I took the time to read the full questionWhen I read that first line I was sorely tempted to respond with something like, A good piece of a is as close as the end of my armBy the way, that is the title of a real song I know.
Q: A beaker of water sits in the sun until it reaches an equilibrium temperature of 30°CThe beaker is made of 100 g of aluminum and contains 165 g of waterIn an attempt to cool this system, 100 g of ice at 0°C is added to the water.(a) Determine how much ice remains after the system reaches equilibrium.(b) Determine the final temperature of the system if instead 45 g of ice were originally added to the warm water.(in °C)
Assume both a) b) are reversable processes (isentropic and adiabatic)This allows you to consider the ice and any of it that melts independently from the water in the beaker (even though they mix)a) Assume all of the ice DOES NOT melt, therefore the system (beaker + water ice + melt) final temp T20 CFor the water initally in the beaker and the beaker to cool to 0 C, that energy has to be absorbed by the ice cube, some of which meltsNow you needs some data: Given: mw mass of water initially in beaker 0.165 kg ma mass of beaker 0.1 kg T1 inital temp of beaker system 30 C You also need some reference data: Cpw specific heat of water 4.186 KJ/kg Cpa specific heat of aluminum 0.9 KJ/kg Hsl latent heat of fusion (water) 333 KJ/kg mi mass of ice that melts (unknown) Q (leaving the water/beaker) Q (melting ice) mw Cpw (30-0) + ma Cpa (30-0) mi Hsl solve for mi: mi [mw Cpw + ma Cpa] 30 / Hsl mi [0.165 4.186 + 0.1 0.9] 30 / 333 mi 0.070 kg 70g melts therefore mass of ice remaining at equilibrium is just 100 - 70 30g Since only 70g needed to melt to absorb all of the energy lost from the 30 C beaker + water, the assumption that all the ice DOES NOT melt was a good oneb) In this part assume ALL THE ICE MELTS, therefore the final system temp of everything is in the range 30 C T2 0 CThe energy (heat) leaving the beaker + water system still has to equal the energy absorbed by the ice cube system; however, after the ice cube melts completely (at constant temp 0 C), the resulting water is then heated to T2The consevation of energy equation has one additional term: mw Cpw (30 - T2) + ma Cpa (30 - T2) mi Hsl + mi Cpw (T2 - 0) where mi 45g 0.45kg and using all the same givens data from a), everything is known except T2Substituting and skipping some math: 0.781 (30 - T2) 14.99 + 0.188 T2, solving I get T2 8.7 C Good Luck!
Q: My niece requested aluminum stirrups for her birthday. I told my sister I would get them for her, but I've NEVER EVER had any experience with them. Not even any of my friends. Are there any pro's and con's?I just want to make sure she isn't going to cause any damage..on anything..I doubt that they would though. I mean from what I've read they only weigh about 2lbs. WOW I started babbling in that last sentence..Thanks in advance.
Aluminum Stirrups
Q: My brother recently made eggs in a skillet and despite overnight soaking and scraping with a metal spatula, and scrubbing with a metal-flecked scrubber, some of the fried-on eggs are still there.I need to make some chicken liversI wondered if I boil them gently for 45 minutes in a the skillet if that will loosen the residueThe skillet is stainless steel.
How many omnivores do you know that are trained in nutrition? How many do you know that researched almost everything they eat on a daily basis? How many do you know that even consider the thought that maybe meat and dairy just isnt that great for you and is uneccesary to a humans health? How many adults do you know that question the ludicrousy of still nursing at their age? if you really do major in nutrition, why is it you dont know the answers to these questions? Or did you mean you took Health in high school 1 hour a week in p.eclass? also if you are going to copy and paste a website, be sure to copy it all not be so selectiveGood sources of vitamin B12 for vegetarians are dairy products or free-range eggs? pint of milk (full fat or semi skimmed) contains 1.2 ?gA slice of vegetarian cheddar cheese (40g) contains 0.5 ?gA boiled egg contains 0.7 ?gFermentation in the manufacture of yoghurt destroys much of the B12 presentBoiling milk can also destroy much of the B12 Vegans are recommended to ensure their diet includes foods fortified with vitamin B12A range of B12 fortified foods are availableThese include yeast extracts, Vecon vegetable stock, veggieburger mixes, textured vegetable protein, soya milks, vegetable and sunflower margarines, and breakfast cereals EDIT lol, where are your sources there geniusYou gave us a link to the vegetarian societies web page, and thanks for thatBut if that info wasnt good enough for you why did you use it??Given you didnt address the fact that you edited out the last half of that page?
Q: I'm redoing my kitchen from the floor upI will have a 3/4 sub floor, then hot water tubes running through aluminum channelsThis leaves a surface that is very flat, with just small unevenness at each tubeIs it enough to lay 1/4 plywood over that, then the vinyl flooring? Or does there need to be a thicker plywood layer at that point?
I would have left it whole, then seared it in a pan, then put on the ovenYour way will work, although 45 mins is too longCheck after 20 mins (I don't know how thick your slices are).
Q: My regular cake pan is missing, and I need to make a cake asapCan I put aluminum foil in my square, glass casserole dish and use that to bake the cake instead? If so, do I need to make any adjustments to the temperature/cooking time?
It does get hot, but foil is so thin, it cools that quicklyAluminum as a metal doesn't hold heat long anyways, and when its that thin, it can't hold it long at all.
Q: i wanted to no what the colors are for each year of anniversarys i no 75 is like gold or something? I wanted to no 1-100 or whatever lol and also i wanted to no what was the gifts i heard paper for the 1st year? I ALSO WANTED TO NO WHAT IS THE TRADITIONS FOR THE GIFTS FOR THE BEST MAN AND MAID OF HONOR AND THE GROOM?? and bride to give each other ?
The air-activated heat pads are the best! Just place them on top of your socks and you'll have warm toes all dayI use them for skiing and triathlons too, after swimming in cold water; sometimes my feet go numb on the bike and with the warmers they always stay warm I have poor circulation in my feet and that's usually the first part of my body that gets coldThey also work great as hand warmers.
Q: for mini pies? flour ? oil ? i don't have any parchment paper so i need another substitute.
oil the pan OR use aluminum foil
Q: Is it possible to use aluminum foil as a substitute for a pie crust in cooking?

Aluminum foil is not typically used to make a pie crust, as it lacks the necessary structure and texture that a traditional pie crust provides. A pie crust is usually made from a dough of flour, fat, and water, which when baked, forms a flaky and crispy base. Aluminum foil is a poor substitute as it doesn't have the same properties and can't be rolled out or shaped like dough. It also conducts heat differently and may not cook evenly, potentially leading to a soggy or burnt pie. For best results, use a proper pie crust recipe or a pre-made crust.
