Q:I am about to redo my bathroom, and I Absolutely hate corners. They get dirty and are hard to clean plus I think they are ugly. So as far as tile is concerned is there something like a bent tile for an inside corner such as from floor to wall which will eliminate corners. Imagine if you will a quarter pipe use by skaters. If nothing exists where could I go to get custom tiles made.
American Olean, Summitville and I m sure there other makers make a cove tile meant to be used of flooring corners between the wall tile and floor tile. You can see them in commercial applications allot. I don t see why you cant adopt the same concept to walls. There is also a base tile used for showers called an A 3401 that you could use in the same way. There is a whole color range in in 4x4 and 6x6 tiles. These are nice but basic tiles . Many manufacturers make these, including Florida Tile, Dal Tile and Interceramic that I can think of. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
Q:I want to remove all the white tiles in my kitchen as some are broken, others don‘t match up and basicially who ever tiled it initially may have been intoxicated, some have come off easy, but others are stuck on tight, tried using a chisel hammer to smash them, but they would splinter and smash like glass, does anyone know a easier less messier way i can do this?
Try using the claw of a carpenters claw hammer. Slide it down the wall and drive it behind the tile. As others have said, make sure you wear protection. Tile shards fly off and are very sharp. Whatever method you use, its a slow labourious and messy job, especially if the person who fixed the tiles did a good job.
Q:self stick floor tile, vapor barrier
Staple the Luan over the tile make sure you use alot of staples to make sure your floor doesn't give at all and use liquid nails adhesive to help hold the Luan down. Also make sure no staples are sticking up because that would damage the floor tile. Then use a primer to paint on the luan to help the adhesive stick. I would also reccomend using addional adhesive. The adhesive on the back of the tile doesn't hold up very well. Spread vinyl floor tile adhesive over the floor and once it is tacky put your floor down. Make sure to let the floor acclimate to the room at least 48 hrs before installation. After you lay the floor it needs to be rolled with a 100lb. roller.
Q:iv just had tile laid on my bathroom floor, they are a rough slate type, There is grout still on then and i cant get it off, can anyone help plz
issues you’ll decide for: Oxygen bleach Water Knee help Step a million: make certain you place an overhead fan on if once you're cleansing your ceramic tiles. in case you're cleansing in any tiny areas, it quite is needed pass away the door open. Fumes could make you unwell in case you're employing stable chemical ingredients. Step 2: Get something mushy for once you're kneeling. you would be doing a brilliant variety of kneeling and scrubbing for the duration of the cleansing. Step 3: purchase oxygen bleach for cleansing the tiles. The powder is non-poisonous. Oxygen bleach can help sparkling your grout and make your flooring sparkle. Step 4: mixture the bleach with some water. enable the bleach to take a seat on the floor for 30-60 minutes. practice a number of this mixture to the areas of the floor you opt for for to scrub. you additionally can use this bleach on counter tops. Step 5: Scrub the grout in a mild way till this is going to become spotless. you ought to use a enamel brush or another kind of brush to scrub the grout. Step 6: Rinse your floor with water to scrub any residue from the oxygen bleach. Use towels to shine your floor and supply it sparkle.
Q:It‘s something I really want to do, I find myself longing for it often. Tile or ceramic, not sure yet. But, my house is 1485 square feet and I‘m wondering if anyone has a ball park estimate for what price range I‘m looking at! I know different variables like tile vs ceramic, etc, but just looking for a range if anyone can help. Thanks!
I advise using ceramic tile rather then regular tile. It costs a little more, but it's worth every penny. Also, you'll be really pleased in the end if you choose a mingle of darker earth tones. We removed all the carpet from our home and had ceramic tile put in. My spouse chose a gray-cement tile for the upstairs. I chose the mingled earth tones for the downstairs. Cleaning these tiles is like night and day. Everything shows up on the gray. Whereas the downstairs tiles have never appeared to be dirty even when they are sometimes. I think we paid between $1.50 and $1.75 per tile at an outlet store. Don't let people tell you that shouldn't buy tile that is no longer being produced, since if one breaks you won't be able to replace it. All we did was buy more than we needed. The extra box remains unused because none of our tiles have ever chipped or broken.
Q:I need tile removed from my shower
Start with a key hole saw, and saw all around the out side of the tile, cutting through the dry wall. After all the plumbing covers are removed, you can then start to use a pry bar and work the tile loose from the studs. This will work for tile over dry wall, over a backer board or even a mud job.. Cover the tub well, wear a dust mask and cover all areas for dust protection. Open a window if possible and set a fan there blowing dust out. Use hammer as little as possible to prevent razor sharp chips from flying and wear all safety gear, including long sleeve shirts, eye and ear protection. And most of all have the elbow grease ready. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
Q:I have tiles around all of my kitchen and would like to cover them. Can I skim plaster over them because it would take weeks to remove them? Is there any other way round avoiding removing them? Any ideas welcome. They are driving me up the wall, literally! HELP.
You can apply plaster to tiles but as they are non-absorbant you have to use a neat bonding agent first. Then apply the plaster when the agent is still tacky. Alternatively you can apply a slurry of 2 parts sharp sand and 1 part cement, mixed with 1 part bonding agent to 1 part water. Apply this with a stiff brush to give a stippled coating. When dry plaster over. Though I havent tried it I should think that using a builders adhesive you can stick plasterboard to tiles or why not tile over with new tiles. I did that in my bathroom with no problems.-just make sure tiles are cleaned of grease then tile in usual way. Hope this helps
Q:How to quickly remove the transparent tape on the tiles
Gasoline or Alcohol! If the best effect of gasoline! Wipe earn
Q:Dear Sir/Madami have question regarding installing tiles 30*30cm*2.5cm thick for hall and rooms my question is whats the min. and Max. cement mortar must be placed under neath tiles (i.e bond coat in between concrete slab and tile )please advice and thank for help and appreciated
If you're using ceramic tiles (very regular size and relatively smooth/even back), use a 1/4 square notched trowel, held somewhere between 45 and 90 degrees (vertical). If you're using natural stone tiles (e.g. granite, marble, slate), go for 3/8 square notched trowel and back-butter the tiles. Make sure the concrete slab is clean, sound, free of cracks and level before you start and follow the instructions for your thinset. You'll likely want to use a modified thinset which will help bond to the concrete better. If you have any doubts about the stability of your slab, consider installing an isolation membrane between the tile and slab. Schluter's Ditra system is the best of the breed for this. If you use an isolation membrane, use unmodified thinset (instead of modified).
Q:If you can tile on top do i need to prepare the old tile surface?
of course you can. You need to prepare properly and use the correct adhesives. For further information visit the tilerworld forum
