Q: 10x7 ft room (70 square ft)I already took up the linoleum which was hard to do and there is some linoleum backing on most of the floor I cant get up that they will removethey will lay something on the floor that will prevent the tile from crackinggluing down the tile and grouting and sealing itI am in the southgrand total $1000.00 labor labor and materials is $15.00 a square ft
Tile stores often have phone numbers of tile setters who buy from them. I respectfully suggest you shouldn't pay $1000 to have $50 of tile installed -- if you want to pay $14 per foot for installation, I'd go for $6 - 8 per foot tile. Generally 2/3 of the bid should be labor, 1/3 material. In tile work, labor includes prep, mastic, grout, and cleanup -- everything but the tile itself.
Q: on to ceramic tile and was told by ace hardware to use acryl pro ceramic tile adhesive ive layed a few tiles but i dont think its right. need some help, is this the correct procedure?????
the first thing you should do is make sure your floor is smooth, by smooth i mean filling all the grout lines in the ceramic tile. the self stick tiles will sink into any places that there is an indentation. i would NOT recommend doing what you are. the only way i MIGHT do this would be to glue, using lots of liquid nails, new laun over the tile then apply the self-stick tile
Q: my tiles i am using are 13 inch, and i am doing a 4x8 wall,so i was wondering which is the best way to adhere it
This Site Might Help You. RE: what is the best ceramic tile adhesive? my tiles i am using are 13 inch, and i am doing a 4x8 wall,so i was wondering which is the best way to adhere it
Q: The interior of my shower is all glazed ceramic tile. I have always used Tilex for cleaning with no problem. Recently I used a Lysol Bathroom cleaner and now I haved horrible white streaks down the walls where I sprayed it. How can I get rid of the streaks? Is it the product that made them? I spent a lot of money building this shower. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!111
Sorry buddy.. The chemicals have eaten away at your tile, thus the white streaks. You will have to pay a proffesional to repair that. :(
Q: Hello. The office we work in has what we believe to be vinyl tiles, 12x12, with a white powdery substance that is always on the floor. It looks as though the tile has never been sealed before so I‘m not sure if this is the cause. I have read online about efflorescence. Could this be that? I‘m really nervous because I don‘t know if it is asbestos. There are a few people in this area, and our chairs are constantly rolling around on the floor. I would say that the floor is just worn down because of the high traffic but I just wanted opinions on what it could be. This powder gets on the bottom of our chairs and our shoes. Any help is appreciated!
first do not to panic 12x12s are not asbestos second yes seal and wax the tiles
Q: i put up glass tile on my kitchen backsplash. i grouted today. i am unable to remove the grout haze this evening however. it is causing the tile to look terrible. any tips? i don‘t want to scratch it.
When grouting glass tile, you should only use non-sanded grout, which is far less abrasive. then its wipe down multiple times. A tile store can possibly recommend a cleaner (used to remove grout) as well.
Q: I have a very outdated bathroom with pink tile covering just about every wall. I love to do DIY projects but can‘t afford to replace the tile. I can however afford to paint it. I read up on it and found the paint directions but don‘t want the end result to look tacky. Has anyone done this and liked the results?
I had probably the same tile in my bathroom. It was half way up all walls and around the tub.. When I moved in (5 years ago), I cleaned, primed with original Kilz, and painted 2 coats of Zinsser Perma White paint in a satin finish. After 5 years and at least 3-5 showers a day, I have had to touch up a couple spots. You can definately tell it has been painted with a brush and roller, I think it looks a lot less tacky than pink tiles.
Q: I was wondering about space between tile when laying tile floor. I have seen online and in person tile floors(don‘t know marble or porcelain or what) where it is completely flat and smooth and the tiles appear butted together. I prefer this look as opposed to the typical tile floor with grout lines that are shallower than the tops of the tile. I was wondering how to get this flat look when every where I have read online says you cannot or at least should not butt tiles together. I hope I described what im looking for accurately and am hoping to get some options. Again I am looking for a flat smooth surface nothing with the dips or recesses of the grout lines. how is that done??
=== you do not say if you want to try to lay those tiles or have a pro do the job == many floors have no grout lines and the whole complete total answer is to float the floor smooth and then lay the tiles on that float after it dries and you have a bit of
Q: Including the ground and the wall, need to pay attention to what aspects of the problem? Decoration has no experience, hope to say the details, thank you
Mainly disdain, and then knock with the key to see how much empty valley - the kind of sound is not real, and then look at the seam it. To be bad to see it
Q: about a year ago i had tile installed on my home but winter is here and i was wondering if i could get carpet installed over the tile without getting the tile damage
I would recommend just using throw or area rugs over the tile. To lay carpet you must tack the padding to the floor then stretch and staple the the edges of the carpet along the floor boards at the walls. The end results would be tack holes in the tile and after time (walking on the carpeting) the padding will stick to the tiles below and would have to be scraped off if removed causing damage to the tiles.
