Q:on this link.. uld someone please tell me what color glass tile is on the first and the second photos of the bathrooms?the top bathroom looks more like a pink base and the second bathroom has the dark gray tiles and the purple walls. also, what kind of walls are these? it looks different than just regular paint. i need a link to the tiles that both of these bathrooms have. i think the first one is more of a pink base and the second is more of a silver base.
Are these beads seed beads? Really beautiful
Q:Which tile is best Porcelain or ceramic for a concrete floor?
Either will be fine for a residential setting. Installed properly both will last for years to come. Neither will break if installed properly if something is dropped on them. You can possible get top chips if a heavy object is dropped and both will show the inner body core unless you buy a true porcelain and not the average porcelain glazed tile. Unless you have major moisture problems tile can be used any time. Some moisture ( if any) will wick up and dissipate as normal. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
Q:I went to the Home Depot website and for instance, baking stones are like $25 each. I heard that some flooring tiles do the same job, though some of the types (like terracota) can expel some poisonous gases when heated; also, that I should avoid enameled tiles or anything with coating.Should I get a baking stone instead?Thank you.
Quarry tiles are genreally considered safe to bake on. The concern is with glazed tiles which may contain and may release lead in your oven - not a good thing! Unglazed quarry tiles are thick and are made of fired clay, basically as it comes from the ground. Thus it has other things in it besides clay. Ceramic tiles are generally thinner and but stronger. This is because they are made from refined clay in a powdered form. The end result is a more uniform tile, thus it is stronger.
Q:i need to cut a hole in ceramic floor tile. i have tried many things such as dremel with different ceramic tile cutting attachments and a carbide hole saw.what should i try next?
Grinds that carbide right off the bit, doesn't it? One of the previous posts has one technique, that being, drill a small hole in the tile (carbide, diamond-tip) at a slow speed with some sort of lubricant such as water (also cools the bit, but don't electrocute yourself) on the tile. Then you would thread the carbide grit hacksaw blade through the hole and hook up a hacksaw frame and cut away - - slowly. Then the tile will usually break when you are almost done. There are tile hole saw blades made, but they are not cheap, as they wear out relatively quickly. They will work up to a few inch diameter size. If it's any bigger than that, you'll probably want to find someone with a water-jet machine, like a countertop fabricator - person. A water-jet cuts just like it sounds - with water. It'll cut stone up to several inches thick. Hope that helps
Q:the bathroom at work has lenulium sheet. I slip when it rains, b cos it is wet. I want to replace home carpeting with tiles or vynal. which one is less slippery? thanks
I m assuming you mean ceramic tiles. Texture or not even tiles can be slippery. What you need to check on tiles is the COF rating or slip resistance. There are tiles that are smooth and can have a rating of 5 ( highest and very few have this rating) which is a commercial rated tile, good for malls and where the public walks on them a lot. 3/4 is the most common for residential and you can find these are very common. Most all tiles 8 or larger is at least a 3 rating. Not all but most all. Take into account all hard surfaces are slippery when wet or you have wet feet and there may also be a sealer or coating on vinyl at work ( especially if theres an out side janitorial service cleaning them) that is making the surface slick too. But over all ceramic will be less slick than vinyl, Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
Q:I am doing a research project at school on erosion, and one of the members on my research team said something about underground tiles that run water into the nearest body of water. We have been trying to locate a source, or ANY piece of information on this subject, but have failed. Is there anyone who can help us?
These aren't erosion tiles, they are drainage tiles. Do a web search on tile drainage and you'll find out all you need to know about the subject. BTW, tiles and tile lines are just underground pipes with holes in them, used to lower shallow water tables. It wasn't clear to me that you understood this, so sorry if I'm pointing out the obvious.
Q:How is oriental Paul tiles?
7 test slip resistance This may be most of the staff of the tile shop will show you, so you directly on the tiles surface trample, feel slippery slip, but we think about what circumstances will be slipped on the floor tiles? Should be when there is water, some brick surface will be a very slippery water, will fall, so the test should be in the tiles surface sprinkle some water to simulate the real situation, and must personally step on the brick test , Some brick water will be more slippery, and some tiles will be more waterproof after the water, recommend this type. Before the test should first tile surface clean, because some of the brick surface to protect the wax, will greatly affect the accuracy of self-test. 8 other details In the process of selecting the tiles I suggest that we must go to the store to see, color and quality is difficult to see from the Internet, you can go to the store selected models, and then to the Internet to buy. No matter from which channel to buy, and businesses must be sure who is good delivery, is sent to the downstairs or sent to the home, is not free replenishment replacement. Because tiles such building materials is really very heavy, with their own simply can not move home. But also in the handling process is very likely to cause damage to the tiles, it is best to let the business to your handling, so that a problem can find him, if you find the construction team workers to move you, that tiles in the handling process is damaged, the basic It is your own money to replenish the goods. Finally, in fact, if you really do not want to bother to identify the quality of the tile, the most easy way is to buy big-name tiles, such as Nobel, Dongpeng, crown beads, etc., big brand tiles really trustworthy; but you still afraid of their own Can not buy good tiles, then you will pay more attention to our evaluation of the bar, if there is a good tiles we will recommend you to buy directly.
Q:We are planning small home improvements during the next year to prepare our house for sale. I would like to switch out our 4 year old formica countertop and replace it with granite tile. A slab is out of the question due to cost. We have a small kitchen and would need about 40 tiles. When I looked on the internet for costs, it seems I can get these tiles for under $300.00? Does that sound right, I think that‘s less than what we paid for the Formica. Also, my next question is can you use the same tile for the entryway, which is next to the kitchen, or it that a little too much of the same thing?
Chinese granite tile.
Q:I have never laid tiles before and I would like to work from the ceiling down. In the shower I am going to use thin set. the rest of the bathroom is green board. which I intended to use a tile adhesive.the reason I wanted to go from ceiling down is I think the layout will look better
The best way to lay it would... measure from floor to ceiling lets say that its 8 ft. if the tile you are using is 12in then you know that you wild need 8 tiles from floor to ceiling. but you have to add 1/4in gap in the tile or what ever size gap you pick. so with 8 tiles 12ins plus 8 gaps (not counting the top and bottom gaps) you will have an extra 2ins that you have to figure for. It would look really bad if you had to cut the top tile to fit cutting the bottom tile will look much nicer. So the best way to do it is use a spinning laser level to find 2 ins off the floor and mark with black lines. Use nails to hold up your til to that line. Start laying the tile up form that line. Uses spacers to get the gap you would like. side note is that tiles are not all 12 by 12ins some can be as much as 1/4 bigger or smaller than that so if you get a tile like that use a nail instead of a spacer to fit the gap so all the tile are even. your eyes won't see a thiner gap but they will see tiles that aren't even. once you get to the top adjust the spaces to make all the tile nice and even at the top. once your done and the thin set is dry remove the nails holding the bottom tile in place and cut the bottom tile to the size you need. you can't really use the floor as a guild goin up cuz most bathroom floors are slopped and some sides are Higher that others and that will mess you up in you start from the floor up. hope this helps
Q:If you can tile on top do i need to prepare the old tile surface?
of course you can. You need to prepare properly and use the correct adhesives. For further information visit the tilerworld forum
