- Q: so i bought tile but not the bull nose end pieces cause they did not have them for that tile. I tiled all the way out to the edge of the counter and now need a way to finish the edge. I have seen wood edges but what is this called and how do you do it? does it butt up against the tile of does it go over? is a wet tile saw supposed to leave ugly, chipped edges? bought a Brand new blade and it did not help.
- some cheaper tiles will chip regardless of your wet saw blade. forget the wood surround. it so 70's. i typically rip those types of tops OUT of houses. go to a reputable tile distributor, and purchase a nice glass tile you can apply as the counter surround. you can bring the glass tile up high enough to cover the bad tile edge and grout the gaps in to finish. also, a better tile distributor, not lowes or home depot, may have a bull nose that matches or have a differing idea, but for SURE would have ample choices for glass.

- I've been working construction with my father since I was 5. You will need, the little plastic x's that are spacers, compound, tiles (obviously), water a sponge and optional a straight line lazer, a spatula and a long spatula with teeth, and a tile cutter, and measuring tape. First, put up the lazer to form the straight line where you want it. Next mix the compound with the amount of water you need, read the instructions on the back. Apply the mixture to the wall with the spatula, next put up the tile and if needed measure and cut the tiles to how you need them in order to fit. use the plastic x's as spacers to have them equally spaced out. after you have put up all the tiles wait at least 30 minutes to an hour for the compound to dry then with the grout of your choice apply it to the tiles and get them in between the cracks good. let it dry and then with the sponge wet it and clean the tiles so that it looks nice and thats all.

- Cover the whole porch over w/ cement as to cover cracks keep porch even then lay tile. Best bet wold be to remove all old cement w/ cracks and start over. It seems everything wants to crack. - you need some space in between for the grout because in the long run it will make it more durable. when you lay your tiles, they need to cure/dry before you apply your grout making sure they won't be moving around. simple as that!

- Asbestos floor tiles aren't a health hazard as long as you don't try to remove them. The best way to prevent any possibility of a problem is to cover them with another floor covering. Follow Up: Asbestos based floor tiles were manufactured as late as the 1970's, and existing supplies were allowed to be installed into the early 1980's. Lead paint wasn't an issue then, and asbestos pipe insulation wasn't either. It would depend on the age of the house, but if disclosure noted the tiles and nothing else, it is unlikely there is a problem. Real Estate agents are under considerable liability if they fail to disclose such things. I know because I used to do C of O repairs for a Real Estate agency.

- Definitely get tile. My brother and his wife got a harwood floor in their kitchen. My dad and I tried warning them against it. If you have kids that only increases the chances of stuff like that happening. Tile is much more durable. If you don't like the feel of cold tile on your feet, then add a heater wire under the tile. You can set the floor temperature to almost any temperature you prefer. You only have to seal the tile about once every 3-5 years. With a hardwood floor you'd have to wax or seriously clean it that often anyway. With tile, you also don't have to really worry about stains unless you use a light grout and don't seal it well. Grout comes in a wide variety of colors, so you can color coordinate the grout however you please. An tile isn't that hard to clean with a mop. My brother is big into farming and very meticulous about everything. It'll be funny to watch when his kids want to start playing with Ertl tractors on the hardwood floor.

You will probably need a tile cutting tool for area where you cant use a whole tile. That is just a basic idea of what ull need to do.
