Q:and if so, can I just put the tile on top of the sanded laminate counter top?
You can, but it is not recommended. Your tile cuts would need to be almost perfect in order to not look bad. Then you need to silicone caulk around the sink to prevent water damage to the original counter top.
Q:Theres only a doorway no door separating my bedroom to my bathroom? Should I finish it with the Wood flooring or go with a ceramic tile?
Wood okorder
Q:What kind of tiles good? How to look?
Good quality tiles it is thick, low water absorption, high wear resistance, but also to no pollution, no radiation.
Q:I am tiling my kitchen countertop and want to put in some wood trim pieces around the front edge like is in newer homes with tile countertops. What I want to know is, where in Lowe‘s can I get that? Is it going to be with all of the moulding, etc., and am I looking for something inparticular? Thanks!
It's in the tile section at the back end of the row, at least in most of their stores. If its not there just ask someone in the flooring department, unlike Home Depot, Lowes actually has employees you can find. One thing to watch for is depth of the store bought moulding, make sure it doesn't hang down too far and inter fear with your drawers, if it does you can rip off the excess on a table saw
Q:hi!i hate the tiles in the house i‘ve just taken.they are blue with white dots.My landlord does not mind changes, but i can‘t afford to change the tiles.is there anything i can do o make them look different.can you paint tiles for instance?thank you for your answers
I would make sure with your landlord about painting the tile first, He/she may have meant that he didn't mind you changing the tiles, but doesn't want them painted. If you paint them and it start peeling off, you've then left your landlord with a headache to deal with after you move out. This can lead to small claims court.
Q:after grouting a new tile floor (about 400 sq ft) and several moppings the finish is still somewhat dull. how do i clean the tile to bring back a nice glossy finish? Thanks
It most likely needs to be dry wiped with a few rolls of paper towels or cheese cloth. Try to dry wipe it then mop it. If it still seems hazy then you may need a product like Lithofin PowerClean. I can't imagine the dry wipe technique not working unless you didn't grout it properly.
Q:I have plain jane 4 white ceramic tile and it does not go with my new room colors for my bath....can this be painted?
Any ceramic tile can be painted no matter if it is old or new. The most important thing is to make sure the tile is perfectly clean. Repair any cracked tiles and crumbling grout. If you need to regrout, do so before painting the tile. Regrouting will damage the paint. Water-based paints that contain a urethane resin are good paints to use. Do not apply it to ceramic tile that gets wet on a regular basis. Examples of this are tile surfaces inside a tub or shower area. You can use a roller to paint a ceramic-tile floor. I suggest a roller with a low nap to keep bubbles and texture to a minimum. You can also add products to the paint that allow them to flow well and attain a finish as if they had been sprayed. If you have a sprayer, you absolutely can spray the tile. Be sure to protect adjacent surfaces from overspray.
Q:My kitchen floor tile has a number dings or chips caused by something heavy falling on them. Is there a way to repair these without having to remove/replace the entire tile?
Sorry to hear that.. Any tile will top chip inexpensive or not.. Just some more easy than others.. This depends on the type of tile..I ve always had people touch them up w/ an enamel touch up that you repair appliances with.. This will depend on colors of course .. Finger nail polish is a tougher touch up product to help too.. Not a cure or a fix but a hide.. Should you get more tile in the future and want to avoid this get a pure porcelain were color go all the way thru and not a porcelain bodied tile there is a difference GL
Q:I heard that ceramic tiles absorb water and we have ceramic tile in the downstairs bedroom. After I wash the tile floor how long do I wait until I can move our dressers and furniture back on the tile? Because once I bring in the dressers I don‘t think the tiles will have a chance to dry because it is fully covered by the dressers, right?
it depends on the ventilation in the room tiles will dry quickly because they do NOT absorb water
Q:We had redid our cupboards a couple years ago and still have to properly cover the hole that was left for the vent on the previous vent system. It looks like they used staples of some type but the way it is just needing 1 and a half (or less) tiles it‘s awkward.
Most ceiling tiles have a tounge groove so each tile fits into another. When you are piecing in tiles it's impossible to get the tounges in the grooves without breaking them. I would suggest, cutting off the tounges with a razor knife and install with Liquid nails or some other construction adhesive. To keep the tiles in place while the glue is drying, cut a 2X4 long enough and put it under the tile while the glue sets up. You might want to put a towell between the tile and the 2X4 to keep from damaging the tile. For the 1/2 tile, score the backside of a tile with a razor knife then break it in half.
