- Q: Suppose load is 100KW, length 50m, how to calculate cable size. If we know current Is any easy mathod to calculate cable size.
- There are two issues to consider, cable heating and voltage drop. Of the two, voltage drop is by far the easiest. You need to determine what the allowable voltage drop in you cable is. The voltage drop is just I x R where I is the current and R is teh round trip cable resistance. The specification of 100 kW isn't enough. If its a high tension 100 kV line, the current is only 1 amp and a run of 16 AWG wire would deliver about 99,999 volts out of the original 100,000 volts to your load. If its a 100 volt system then a 4 AWG wire would only deliver only 20 volts to the load. The formula for wire resistance (in AWG) is that 10 AWG has 0.001 ohm/ft. Each increase of 1 in the gauge increases resistance by the cube root of 2 (about 25%). You calculate by picking what voltage drop you can live with, for the known current figure the resistance, knowing the length figure the resistance per foot, and then pick the AWG using the above. The second concern is wire heating. Although you could do the heat transfer calculations, instead look up the allowable ampacity for any wire in an electrical engineers or NEC handbook.
- Q: I need 600W of power for my new computer, but all I have is 2 300W, 20-pin power supplies. What I'm wondering is if I can combine the 2 20-pin connectors and turn them into 1 24-pin connector?
- comput... repair las vegas
- Q: So i found a old monitor but cant find the power cable what cable do i need?
- Look at the monitor - there should be a label or imprint or something telling you which input the monitor requires. Without that it's impossible to determine the correct adapter. Copy all the information (Volt, Watt, Ampere) there should also be a symbol telling you if the center is plus or minus. Or make good picture of the label. With all that information go to a good electronics or computer store and ask for a power supply unit that covers those requirements. You should also know which plug to use or get a power supply that has adapters for the plug. Easiest would be to take the monitor with you to the shop to avoid troubles. You can also try to google the monitor and see if you can find a spec sheet.
- Q: Hey! I bought a new sound system for my truck including 4 new speakers, a sub, a 5-channel amp, and I'm running all new wiring. So far I've got the 3 RCA cables ran, along with the blue remote turn-on wire along the right side of my truck. I plan to run the Power wire down the left side and then to my amp.I've heard that you put the power wire and RCA cables on different sides, which is what I've done, but is it ok for my speaker wires to be run beside or close to the power wire(4-gauge fyi)? For example, the right side speaker wires wont be near it, but the left side speaker wires will be...Will this cause any weird noise from my speakers?I don't have the names/etc of all my gear right in front of me, but if u rly need it, I will quot;add detailsfor you! Thanks!!
- Good....That will depend on how tremendous the amp is. An extension twine has either 2 or three wires inside of at someplace between sixteen and 12 gauge wire. You could twist the entire conductors together and be good up to about forty amps with three 12 gauge wires. The obstacle with amplifiers is present now not voltage. The thicker the wire the extra present it's going to manage. Most any wire you purchase is rated at least 120V. Determine what measurement fuse the amp requires, whether it is greater than 30 to 40 amps i would buy the correct size single wire for the amp. Additionally, fuse the wire at the battery. Fireplace shouldn't be our friend. :)
- Q: what cables do i need (besides a power cable) to start playing?
- you need the standard a/v cables. If you have a HDTV then you want to buy the HDMI cables
- Q: I know Ethernet cable is much more susceptible to electromagnetic interference than fiber optic cable, but is fiber completely immune to it? I want to wrap a fiber optic cable around a 230 volt power line going through my attic for about 150 feet. Will this cause problems?
- Different wavelength.
- Q: I live in the Arizona desert, on a flood plain. Most of the time things are pretty dry. But during monsoon season the area I live in experiences flooding. I am planning a shallow, square, sunken pond. The main pond will be 4.10' L x 4.11' W x 3' deep. I plan to build an 8wide wall around the pond to keep out flood water. The wall will be made of standard red bricks. I plan to make the wall 2-3 bricks high. This would make the wall itself around 5-7 inches tall. The foundation for the wall will be concrete. Do I need a waterproof concrete sealant for the foundation? I plan on installing a power cable for my submersible filter between the EPDM liner I plan to use, and the mortar for my brick wall. Should I use sand between the mortar and the cable to protect the cable from the mortar? The cable will be encased in PVC as well.Thank you.
- You should use a concrete sealant, it can't hurt. Put the cable under the foundation in PVC and it will be fine.
- Q: Low voltage power cable telemetry insulation resistance, the number should be used to shake the table? The More
- ZR-KVVRP-500 is mainly used for transmission control, measurement signals and other cables. ZR: Control cable KVVRP: PVC insulation 500: Rated voltage 500 V or less 1 × 2: Two core 1.5: Wire diameter
- Q: i have a 01 grand prix gt and i want to run the power cable to an amp , anyone know a good spot to run it?
- In that vehicle the battery is located on the passenger side of the engine compartment. There should be a large, rectangular rubber grommet located at the front of the passenger side footwell, with a large wire bundle running through it. I usually route the power wire through that grommet, or drill a hole right next to it. It's important to carefully route and secure the wire in the engine compartment so it can't touch hot or moving engine parts. You'll also want to make sure you seal up the hole around the power wire because it's easy for water to get in at that location.
- Q: if I buy a new 4 pronged power cable how should i install in the dryer, what should i do with the extra 4th wire of the cable, pls help Thanks
- It sounds like you have a grounded wall outlet. I have seen these in trailer homes and modular homes. You need to buy a new power cord that has 4 prongs and make sure the round one goes to the ground in your dryer. Some dryers have the ground wire under the neutral wire, that will need to be moved over to where it will ground to the cabinet. There should be some directions with the plug or check you operators installation manual.
